Forget for a moment what they look like, where they live, etc. What is this story about? It's the coming of age story of two boys who are both struggling through adversity, and yet society tries to pit them against each other because they can't see past their superficial differences to realize how alike they are. Isn't that exactly what the folks against "identity politics" say they want?
