You are right. There was a band named "Free Will" later 'Jukin' Bone' fromcentral NY who were real good and never got the breaks due them. They have stuff on the internet and you can see they had the goods. Same time period. I last saw them in 1971 when they opened for the Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna in Rochester.

If you didn't know, Bleak House is waaaaaay more wholesome than you could imagine......Universe where touring at the time in norway, when their tour van broke down....It turned out that the house they broke down outside, was a guy that happened to have a recording setup, and invited them in to stay and record some stuff for them, which this album is the result of. I only just realised myself that Bleak House is literally just the band thanking the person/persons that let them stay with them and share their food and wine. They only made 300 copies from that recording and thats what this album is. Makes the song even sweeter and happier knowing the story!

A few corrections, they didnt actually break down outside the guys house, i think they broke down in the town and the guy heared a band had broken down and helped them out and let them stay at his place as a fellow musician. The guy is the one in the stripey shirt with short hair!

@@Goubi92 Only just saw your comment while re-listening to this great album! I love all these obscure stories about long gone bands who in most cases only made 1 or two albums. There's another great band from a similar time called "Grannie"they made the self titled album, after paying for 1 session in a recording studio with a deal to get 99 copies (and one master) record form the session and that's the whole album. All just done in 1 session. They started touring round the UK while selling those 99 copies at gigs. After only a few gigs they came out one morning to see the whole van with all the gear gone! They had no choice but to pack it in and break up the band. Now those few copies that sold, and some of the rest left with the band are insanely expensive records. I ended up managing to get 1 of the 2012 re-release copies, 1 of 750 i believe. Got it for £20 on ebay, not even a single other bid. Defintely a treasure to keep, has some nice pictures and the full story of the band with the certificate of authenticity. Another great (albeit terrible quality as a result of far too many scratches) is this cheeky little album buy a band caled "monk" might even be the album name. The guy that uploaded the album on youtube (thumbnail is a lp with a yellow lable saying "monk") put the story in the description of him finding it in a charity shop and buying it for 50p. Couldnt find anything about them anywhere, and it's likely the only lp of theirs in existence, likely a lp given to the record company, but they decided they didn't want it. Its a real beautiful 70s's album. I still search every now and then to see if i can find anything about them or even try and find if those talended dudes are still even alive these days. Anyway, i just love these old stories about obscure bands, makes me feel like keeping them going, keeps the spirit of these bands alive after all these years.

Wrong!! Totally Wrong!! The mid to late sixties into the early 70s was an explosion of talent never to be repeated again. The turmoil of the times inspired and motivated the groups to write songs with feeling and meaning. Those specific times and events are gone and will NOT be repeated. Also with what they call "talent"today do you honestly think it will come back around?? Hardly! It's an insult to the greats of that era to even infer that.

Very interesting album. I remember one day when I've listened this one first time, maybe 5-6 years ago. Then I didn't like this album. I usually searched albums as heavy as Black Sabbath or Budgie. Today my music preferences is more wide. I can say :I like this one 👍👍👍 every single song is different and I can hear lots of influences or styles, but still heavy! :) very very interesting experience! ❤

'Cause they have some nice ideas but the recording was badly done (not top-notch). The vocalist is not that good (despite the band being awesome).. And they have lots of "more of the same" bluesy songs.. That's why they couldn't compete with Led Zeppelin or other bands. That's my explanation. Don't get me wrong, I like it.
