This kind of stupidity has been working inside the US for a long time. The US has the lowest tax burden in the industrialized world. Debates are discussions with proponents for *both* sides presenting their cases. Arguments are dissertations of theses supported by evidence. In a true debate, both sides present their arguments. In this case, we have one side demanding that their thesis be accepted as axiomatic (regarded as true with no evidence in support of it) and they're just drowning out any other views with their shouting their thesis. Crazy story: as a college kid, I knew Iraq was bs. I didn’t need a PhD or a McKinsey analyst to tell me that, because it was blatantly obvious. But people wildly supported it (for the first year or two) because they had their heads so far up media’s dark place, they couldn’t tell whether the sun was shining or not. College kids lack the kind of “experience” that makes adults prone to some of the most horrific things.

The girl that claimed she knew she and her pals were on “the right side of history” said it all. This is an attention grab. A virtue signal. This is them wanting to feel like they’re doing something for the world like previous generations. They want to feel important and part of something, but they’re so misguided in their approaches. Like somehow turning their campuses into homeless-looking encampments and skipping class is going to change what’s happening on the other side of the world. They have absolutely no concept of what brutality is. The most discomfort they’re feeling is potentially having no WiFi in their tents. I don’t even have the words to fully describe how cliche this is. They want to feel like they’re part of history like previous generations, even though previous generations were fighting for change within their own country. I’m so glad I chose not to have kids.

And there are so many horrible human rights issues around the world that these enlightened college students never responded to... the response to dissidents in Syria… Iran… Russia… the Uyghur Detentions in Xinjiang, China… One might wonder why such disparities in response exist. Are these protests genuinely grassroots, or might there be other motivations or influences at play? Additionally, some participants in recent protests have made extreme statements, including "Death to Jews" and "Death to America." These instances, which go beyond free speech into incitement, deserve scrutiny and raise concerns about the underlying agendas of these movements. While protest is a vital part of democratic engagement, the focus and conduct of university protests should reflect a commitment to true debate and consideration of all human rights violations, regardless of geographic or political alignment.

With a Jewish last name like mine, I’m grateful I graduated years ago. I feel and for the people being harmed in the name of people suffering on both ‘sides’. They’re making it worse
