Tip for KTM: I have owned 9 new KTMs in the last 5 years or so. I currently don't own one. Some have been great, some not so great. Something that would go a long way to getting me back as a customer would be KTM offering the option of a significant factory warranty, like the Japanese manufacturers do. For example, with my Yamahas, I can (and have for the more expensive ones) bought their 4 year factory extended warranty, which can be renewed for 2 additional years beyond that. Now, I turn my bikes over for new ones every couple of years, but still, it shows that Yamaha has enough confidence in their engineering and quality control processes that they will stand behind their product for many years. KTMs are comparatively expensive, and are arguably a premium product. But the absence of the company willing to stand behind that product for a comparable length of time, combined with the brand's well-earned reputation for putting out product that hasn't been as thoroughly proven for longevity as Japanese product, along with hit and miss QC, has been keeping me away from buying another - despite the fact there are several current KTMs I would like to own. Give me the option of a reasonably priced no BS factory extended warranty, particularly on the higher priced models, and I would like to get back to riding orange.

PLEASE tell me you redid the horrendous switch gear from the 1290 SDR and 1290 SADVR. It was so annoying it was a primary reason I sold both of those bikes.

I have a gen 3. People dont buy for Track Days. Mainly for every day ride. windy roads and hilly areas. We have very few flat and straight roads. From New Zealand

KTM was once more performance then a Ducati for a lower price. Now this bike with tech-pack cost almost the same as a Streetfighter V4S (in the Netherlands). They need to lower the price a lot to be competitive again (KTM dealers still have gen3 1290's in stock because they didn't sell well).

Bummer seeing Binder go down leading the Sprint today. KTM out front was super, if it was only for a bit. Love my Gen1 . Lucky to have had the opportunity to ride a 990 in 2016 in Houston at a Demo event. Been a Lc8 fan ever sense. Love my SDR 16.

The bike is pretty but very impractical for high speeds since you have to fight the wind turbulence from it being a naked without fairings. A naked is practical from a 700cc downward. Going above that then it becomes a choir to ride.

Then don't buy a naked. High performance nakeds still give superb performance at road going speeds. The wind is not that bad, just put ear plugs in and you will not notice it.

@@malcolmabram2957 Not about wind noise. It's about wind turbulence. It's far less efficient to maintain high speed with a naked compared a bike with fairings. Night and day difference. Nothing wrong with naked bikes if you are just going to 100mph. Going beyond that and it's quite foolish.

Schönes Motorrad. Aber andere Hersteller bauen auch schöne Motorräder. Und außerdem fehlt es an Möglichkeiten so ein Motorrad auch auf der Rennstrecke zu fahren. Sehr schade. Und sehr schade auch dass es viel zu viel Neider gibt wenn man so ein Motorrad kauft. Auch sehr schade.

You talk a lot about increased safety with this motorcycle. Can you explain the increased safety of not having a dedicated rear stop/tail light please.

Are you under the assumption that other vehicles are looking for the brake light in a specific location or that the brake lights they integrated in the indicators are not bright enough? Maybe you should see them in person. They're quite visible.

@@A.J.1656 what I was getting at is, like BMW and a lot of modern cars, when the brakes lights are on, they are bright enough to make the indicator difficult to see. Imaging slowing down to turn right (UK) with your brakes applied and your right indicator on, some impatient being behind decides to overtake you because they can't see you indicator just as you decide to peel in. That's what I was getting at. It's a stupid feature that to many are adopting. Aftermarket techies have identified the issue and have starting selling gizmos to combat it. That's speaks volumes in itself. How it passed tests and deemed legal and safe I'll never know. Rant over! 👍

Great bike, but WAAAY overengineered. I do not want to pay for that crazy playstation suspension, that probably alone costs around 6k ... I need a simple good yss suspension and I'm good. If the bike is 6k cheaper that is definitely better for me! Make this bike cost 12k and I'll buy one tomorrow. I need this engine, the power, abs and tc are nice to have. But wheelie control... why. If you cant handle a bike like that you shouldn't buy one. I also like a analog rpm gauge , i dont want this playstation stuff. Please think about a low end floor model, back to basics. Think: NAKED bike, no fancy crap, no fairing.
