The current Nissan Patrol has been around for a long time-14 years-and it was the second generation Nissan Armada that brought it to North America almost unaltered eight years ago. That may be a bit of a stretch, but thankfully the company is working on a new model. Is there any similarity between it and this independent design study?
Based on the 2025 Infiniti QX80, unclecars created these drawings of the forthcoming vehicle for Kolesa. As a result, the full-size off-roader shares the same general design as the more opulent QX80, but its front and back fascias are very different. The enormous front grille of the 2025 Patrol is significantly bigger than the one on the outgoing model. The new headlights, which have two C-shaped LED daytime running lights on each, are situated on either side of this grille. The Patrol will be slightly more practical and more durable than the QX80. Because of this, Kelsonik has portrayed it with conventional door handles as opposed to those that, like those on the Infiniti, sit flush with the bodywork. The new model has a tailgate at the back that is shaped and sized like the QX80, but it also has a full-width light bar and two updated LED taillights. The new model will ride on a ladder-frame chassis, just like its predecessor. But instead of a 400 horsepower 5.6-liter normally aspirated V8, the new QX80 will have a twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 50 horsepower (336 kW / 456 PS) and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque.
Although Nissan isn't presently working on any diesel powertrains for the new vehicle, one of the company's ePower hybrid systems might eventually make an appearance in the lineup, especially in areas where the Patrol is available. Late last year, Ivan Espinosa, Nissan's worldwide head of product strategy and planning, revealed that the 2025 Patrol's chassis and steering upgrades will result in significantly better "driving dynamics" and "overall performance." It should also have greater off-road capability than the current model. The Nissan Armada competes in the full-size sector in the United States with the Chevy Tahoe and Toyota Sequoia. Its main competitor outside of North America is the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, which isn't available here in the United States where the slightly less luxurious and smaller Land Cruiser is available.
