Thank you. I appreciate that you like my videos. I don't want to burden people with commercials while my channel is growing. It would probably only make me about $100 a month at this particular size anyway. I'm hoping that some of my subscribers support me on patreon and use my Amazon links for all thier shopping. I'm just not a fan of cramming advertisements down everybody's throat. I'm not going anywhere and I plan to grow this channel as long as I possibly can. I've had mine for years I am on filter number 2 (got mine in 2010) and still using it daily in my RV - can't use salt water that's the only no no

Katadyn single liter filter bottle for 40 bucks or so. much cheaper. I can see using this for a group of campers but not one person.

Thanks for the video on the lifesaver. I recently purchased this same system. I was wondering if you could tell me using this vertically as you were when filling your rv how much water can get out of it before you have to lay it down to finish emptying it? Thank you

Almost all of it. I would guess around 95 percent of the water can be extracted using the pump and filter.

We used these in the military. We used cheese cloth to filter out algae. It was bad at clogging the filter. Not cheap. I have 2 cans and 4 bottles.

@@johnshorba yes that is what he meant, watch other videos a high percentage of folks use a clean bandana, a coffee filter, or something similar to t-shirt material as a prefilter over the fill opening to reduce debris in the water

Agreed. So far I've used about a hundred and fifty gallons from seven or eight different water sources in Oregon. So far so good. I waited about three weeks to post this video to make sure it was testing well. I will definitely update if there's any thing to report. Take care and happy camping. Jim

it's high maintenance for 300 bucks, shelf life for replacement filters is only 3 years.

what are the recommended limits for storing water in the container? (You mentioned keeping water in it to keep the filter wet.)

It looks like the filter will last about two years after you start using it. And it just says that the filter is supposed to remain wet and should not be allowed to dry out. I tried to share the PDF instruction manual here but was unable to do so. If you just Google search Lifesaver jerrycan manual it pops right up. I hope that helps. Take care and happy camping. Jim

You said that you run 5 gallons of water through it, empty it, and then replace it with 5 more gallons of water. Do you do this procedure EVERY time you need to fill up the Jerry Can... in that it is required to fill it up, empty it, and add more water every time you use it?

I think to put it to a real test would be to take Lake water, river water or whatever and get it tested at a water testing place then take that same water run it through the can and then take that water and have it tested... compare results

The burkie filter system is much better system and use it in rv , at home , anywhere. at 190.00 dollars waaay over priced to be practical! And the burkies are used for therd world countries and major emergencies by the military, I have been using for 10 Yrs. now. Fantastic~

@Tim Toolman BERKEY( if you are going to spew false information about an inferior product learn to spell the name) filters are 0.9 micron, the lifesaver is 0.015. Game Set Match to lifesaver😝 if you want to pay a bunch more for a shiny can with inferior filter, knock yourself out. People who can do simple math will laugh all the way to the bank with the money they save

Their customer service is horrible Im missing parts that were not put in the box before it was shipped factory sealed and now they’re giving me all kinds of hassle about getting those parts buyer beware

@@fullmoonadventureclub i’m missing the little bag with the little filter and manual and they refused to send it to me I bought it off eBay but the box was sealed new from the factory and they’re complaining because it was bought off eBay because they don’t sell it on eBay and I’m like what does that matter the box was sealed from your factory.

@@762cat that is unfortunate. I'm not sure what their protocols would be unless eBay was an authorized dealer. But I wish you the best of luck and I hope they get you the parts you need. It really is a very handy filter.

@@fullmoonadventureclub regardless of eBay or wherever I picked it up the package was sealed from the factory brand new they forgot to put the parts in basic customer service would say oh OK here you go
