6 жыл бұрынUnloading the Grain Bags! We already sold the corn out of the grain bags and it's time to get it to the ethanol plant! As some bonus footage, enjoy watching me fail miserably at an attempted 'stunt'!
I am a 5th generation family farmer from West-Central Minnesota. The recent interest in food, combined with a large amount of 'misinformation' has driven me to start this channel. I hope to be someone people can relate to and trust when they question how their food is grown and raised. I also hope to become a 'smarter' farmer through my experiences with this channel. I strongly believe we must have an open mind and a willingness to learn about others, or we cannot move forward as one. My goal is to build the connection between farmers and consumers by facilitating a collaborative conversation amongst everyone. I do this by sharing my day-to-day farming experiences, my opinions on certain topics, and occasionally visiting other farms and businesses to help better understand other farming and business practices. There is no limit to where this channel may go, so please join me!!

Just found your channel this past weekend. Watched several videos so far. I grew up on a farm and really miss it. These videos bring back lots of memories of growing up on a farm in the '80's.

This is a cool way of doing things when selling the grain. Here on the east coast I don’t see this setup but maybe once in my life. Cool vid man thanks for teaching the public about agriculture!! 👍🏼

Found your channel a few months ago and we've been watching the old episodes. We've seen these bags in fields and not knowing any better always thought they were covered hay bales. Didn't realize they were probably sitting in a corn or bean field. Anyway, we've seen a few of these now as we've been out and about and it's kinda cool to know what they are. Thanks!

Wow Zach, you finished up the bag exactly like I do, Nobody told me either. I have a little JD 6140 hook up to the bag auger and it was very hard to keep it pulling straight. Had to steer it constantly. Worst part though was how slow it was to fill the bags. In grain harvest we had to rotate our carts thru to keep us harvesting in the field and sending trucks to the grain bins at the same time. We do Wheat and barley.

Zach you make things interesting even when things get tough on the farm when thing don't go as planed. Liked you comment about the grain bag when empty you can make it a slip n slide when you cover yourself in dish soap and slid all the way to town right to the Bar for a Beer.

There is a grain elevator near where I live that fills up 30 bags or so every year. About 3 weeks ago, they had one split the whole length of the bag. They got most of it cleaned up but there are thousands of black birds getting a free meal.

I wonder if those bags can be recycled or if they are just waste. Been watching a ton of your videos, and it's refreshing to see someone my age that is still in farming and is as knowledgeable about it as you are. I do like the comment about making the worlds longest slip and slide out of them.

You should sell those empty bags to inflatable playground equipment providers. Like you said, it would be a heck of a slip-n-slide on any kind of slope.

It to bad they havent found a way to re use those bags yet... BUT... your on the right track....there is a guy here who runs a bunch of activites in the summer and he uses his used bags for the big slip and slide on the big hill. Works Great. Looks so warm there.!!

I want to say thank you for making all that corn and selling it to make ethanol it helps produce the fuel that I use instead of race gas... cuz race gas is crazy expensive and E85 is just as good but $2 a gallon... thank you.

Try using the green rope that comes with the bag to tie off the starting end, then tuck the end underneath as you start filling. That way when you unload the bag, it can stretch around the auger guard instead of trying to break 2x4s. When I found this out I was left with 5 bushels or so to scoop.

Great to see an old Minneapolis still working the farm. Not sure what model that is but I've always wanted a 302 or a 4 star Minneapolis Moline. You make that slip'n slide I'll join your party slide to the bar!
