Wow, that sounds futuristic, almost sci-fi, yet also earthy like entering a forest after a rainy day and just after sunset. Almost makes me want to buy a keyboard and get back into it. Great to get away from the old-fashioned triplet stuff.

It's good to have some cool prefabricated licks, because there isn't time to find every note we want to play, and sometimes we feel er, less inspired, but the best is when we can play the notes which are in our heart. For anybody who doesn't have many notes in their heart, I suggest many more hours of listening to the best musicians you can find who play in the jazz style(s) in which you want to play.

Funny enough this scale is what Jam Band guitarist use quite a bit hints the bluesy sound. New to piano and this lesson was great 😊

Oh Wow! To be honest... this is above my current standard. But, that being said, I can fumble around it slowly and keep it in the back pocket to work on a little at a time. This sound is a big part of where I want to be but there is still a long way to go yet. Thank you Jonny!

Great tutorial, keep it up please. This is so weird, somebody please explain. As far as I understand, the mixolydian scale sort of ‚belongs’ to a dominant sept chord, however, in this example, I don‘t perceive it as such - I have no urge to solve this F7 to Bb whatsoever. Why is that? Is it because you are playing a sus9 and mosty omit the A-key?

I really like your connector ideas, but for the left hand, I prefer to use a rootless dominant chord that includes the 9 and 13, or some other dominant chord. I also like used the F sus chord. Using it with the slow blues Charleston pattern that you teach and different bass notes against the F sus chord provides for some great ideas too.

I like the exercise, but when you’re demonstrating some improv, it sounds more to me like Eb maj, Fmaj, triad pairs. You’re almost always hitting the A when you’re improvising but you never hit the A in the written-out exercises.
