In this video I show you how to make 3d images using the the VSCEL lasers. I show you how you can see these IR lasers using a security camera. I talk about how the lasers can be so small.

@@mrolafdotcom You got Hulu or Netflix? Or even on KZfaq, go to literally ANY new Ghost Hunting show from the last few years and you will surely see them use this. Ah, I just realize you used the term "haunted house attraction". I was referring to the many tools, some legit and some "meh" that are used by Paranormal Investigators. Now, I know this doesn't have much place on a Science-themed channel, but I have had my own encounters and it rattled me to the core of beliefs at age 20. I WAS a "strong" atheist and now I'm what's called a "weak" atheist, meaning while I don't believe in a bearded man in the sky, I do believe in phenomena that exist outside the scope of our modern understanding. There is absolutely no way that this beleif in me can be shaken as I was literally punched in the stomach by a ghost after "calling it out". I had to research the site, and research the phenomenon myself b/c the original "Ghost Hunters" series hadn't even come out yet. However, in 2001 I learned enough to know that it is mostly an electro-magnetic phenomenon that can affect our conscious. I also believe that interstellar travel is pretty much impossible, and that what we call "aliens" may, in fact, be races of beings capable of viewing us from afar using quantum mechanics based on advanced electromagnetic principles that only fringe groups of paranormal "Scientists" are only beginning to dig into the surface of. It's just a shame that most modern scientists have not delved into this. Basically, our minds operate at a freq. of 0-20Hz and detecting this range of frequencies is difficult. My foray into this science can be explained by looking up "H.A.A.R.P." and associated "conspiracies" as well as "Brainwave Entrainment", "Binaural Beats", and a program known as "iDoser"... Happy hunting!

I just want to highlight that the statement for 1550nm wavelength lasers is correct, BUT they are not used in your phones and therefore the statement is a bit dangerous (at least not for the VCSEL structured light and Time of Flight applications) The VCSEL used in this applications don´t use 1550nm, as the high power arrays are currently not available at this wavelength. Commonly used VCSEL are at 850nm or 940nm. To make them eye-safe, the VCSEL are driven with short pulses to keep the average power low. Also a single pulse is only allowed to have a certain amount of energy to be eye-safe. This considerations are done for certain distances, so holding the phone directly into your eye could still damage your eye, since instead of only some dots the whole energy would enter your eye. With the use of a proximity sensor (distance measurement by a very low power VCSEL), they normally make sure to switch on the laser only when you are in a safe distance to the phone. Also the fact that you can´t see the IR light is actually nice for the application as you are not bothered by the light, BUT for laser this can also introduce a big problem. With visible light, your eye has an automatic closing mechanism that shuts your eye pretty fast if you are exposed to much brightness. This is not true for IR light. Ever tried to look into a 5mW red laserpointer (DON´T try it by the way)? You would have to force yourself to not close your eye. For IR light, it would just burn you before you would even react. The VCSEL is dangerous without the right driving conditions and additional safety features by the developers!

At about 1:43, we see the tiles of the blue noise offset from each other, and they just allow the top and bottom edges of the illuminated area to remain rough, unlit outside of the tiles. So it looks like they have the noise emitter template in a thin strip. On one hand, I can't imagine the photolithography template having all that wasted space around the edges. On the other hand, I can't imagine tham actually tiling separate hardware emitters together with that kind of precision. So my stupid question for the day is: What are your thoughts on that tiling, particularly the empty regions? Is it all just the pattern of a single emitter chip, or a patchwork of hardware?

This is for depth sensing. If you know the depth of objects in a scene, you can use that for image processing and augmented reality. Want a zoom call on your phone but don't want to use a green screen to mask out the background? The depth sensor can help with that. Want to create an AR filter which can find the shape of someones face and accurately place 3D objects (such as ear rings) on the face and scale them appropriately and have physics interactions? With a depth reconstructed mesh, you can place virtual objects on a physical face and not have the virtual mesh occlude the physical geometry.

Especially if you compare the scans between mobile phone and comercial 3d scanners. On the mobile phone, the same takes up the textures when scanning. In the case of hand-held devices, a colourless scan is usually used as an output. Textures can then be reworked on the PC. I think this is quite time-consuming for large projects.

Wait... if the universe is constantly expanding, then the perception of the speed of light as a constant means it is always covering more distance at the same perceivable rate. This means the speed of light is a constantly accelerating speed in order to be perceived as a constant over more distance. Right? This would prove that black holes are just us perceiving light that is travelling faster than our speed of light from a central source giving the illusion of reversed time. I'd love for someone who knows more to contemplate this.
@minerblake7494
@minerblake7494 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's an illusion, it's more like an analogy like a clock with hands is an analogy of average Time. We are limited by current knowledge and understanding, so it amounts to speculation until the model or experiment can be designed (CERN perhaps). Time and light are static, so the 'speed' is irrelevant between them in the continuum. Slicing them (observer effect) creates the snapshots our minds can grapple with. We are dynamic, so speed is relevant as is velocity and we form a relationship with Time and Light based on those snapshots. FTL (Faster Than Light) is a potential not unlike polarity but explained or defined in the physics (we're seeing the speed of cause and effect relating it to Light because of our limited perception). If something is static, it's not moving, so in theory everything moving (velocity) would be faster than a thing with zero velocity. And apparently everything IS moving, everything that has mass, so everything is FTL. Doesn't make sense... on that level. Light has no mass, so by that theory, a black hole couldn't affect light since gravity influences mass. Doesn't make sense. Something don't smell right in the state of.... unless. Light is there, and it's here, everywhere, it doesn't move, it simply exists as a field, and the field is charged by energy producing a polarity switch, off or on, just like a light switch.

Apparently, it’s more complicated than flipping a photo on its side… Also, this all ties in to how “filters” align with a person’s features.
