Teaching on the Letters of John, David Pawson discusses the issue of sin in the believer’s life. At first sight, there appear to be contradictory verses, but careful study brings clarity. David proves that it is dangerous to take a verse out of its context. Another subject covered is the difference between males and females because two of John’s letters are addressed separately to a woman and a man about the same subject, and yet saying opposite things. Hospitality was the very important theme, as it is possible to invite heresy into a church by inviting visiting ministries without verifying the truth of their teaching. David says that churches need both local ministry and travelling ministries. John’s third letter addresses the problem of holding a church’s ministry too closely and not showing love to honourable visiting ministries. David emphasizes the need for both truth and love in each life.
David also has a book on this series find out more here: www.davidpawson.co.uk/search/...

I can't seem to get or find: unlocking the new testament - Letters of John 3? My heart swells knowing how much I learn from David Pawson that it makes it easier to relate the book to others who are amazed that I know so much and I don't but I know it's the Holy Spirit that let it role off my tongue like a native American story teller. GOD BLESS

@@tommieblount8231 Early Christian tradition describes Cerinthus as a contemporary to and opponent of John the Evangelist, who may have written the First Epistle of John myand the Second Epistle of John to warn the less mature in faith and doctrine about the changes Cerinthus was making to the original gospel. According to early Christian sources, the Apostle John wrote his gospel specifically to refute the teachings of Cerinthus. timothytennent.com/2013/04/08/why-did-st-john-flee-the-bath-house/

13:01 "fear of the lord." love casts out fear. fear should not be in a believer's dictionary. love and gratitude need to be the motivating factor of believers to be walking in god's way, running in this blessed race to the finish in awe and reverence of him who created, redeemed and sustains us.

9:26 the congregation was correct in not agreeing with the translated verses because these were not translated in the verb in its proper tense and context. it is beyond me why translator "scholars" would do that. it is very clear in the interlinear that the verb is in the present indicative active (i abide, i am abiding; i sin, i am sinning). given the context of this letter of john then, it should be translated "abiding" and "not sinning," continuous present, not "abides" and "sins. the lord be blessed for providing us this free interlinear resource so helpful even for those who are not scholars of the "greek" language nor even speak it. it is my prayer that those who read/study/meditate on the holy writings cover to cover will not only do so prayerfully but will eagerly make use of these gifts of resources from god: interlinear and concordance. one does not have to be scholars of anything when one reads/studies/meditates on the holy writings prayerfully and also use these resources. other free resources are teaching articles or videos like this. interlinears and concordances help also in checking if the teachings one reads/hears/views are based in the holy writings or just man-made "interpretations." we are not to "interpret" but seek from god to give us the understanding like david did.

I don't get why this verse is so hard to understand, 1 John 3:9. It says if you're born of God, you CANNOT SIN. That simply means if you are sinning, then you're not born of God. Why is that so difficult to understand? The only problem I'm seeing is that you are assuming everyone in that room is born of God. Simply put, they're not and this verse explains who is and isn't born of God. I think David taught it right the problem just seems that everyone thinks they are born of God just cause they are in a church.

With resect 1Jn 3:9 does not say you CANNOT SIN ...if you are born again It says no one who is born of God WILL CONTINUE to sin ....... which means those who are born of GOD WILL Choose NOT to sin - a choice Heb 10:26 Acknowledges that it is possible to still commit sin but - If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received teh knowledge of the truth ..... no sacrifice for sins is left

@@DavidPawsonMinistry In word for word text it says "You CANNOT continue sinning" which to me is the same thing as you CANNOT SIN. That is to say we were all sinners once, but those born of God CANNOT SIN any more. However you want to view the wording, it is saying if you are sinning currently then you're not born of God. I suppose many find that offensive. Too bad. The problem most people have with this is that much of the church today is still in sin. They fornicate, over eat and get fat, do drugs, get drunk once in a while (like on holidays), watch porn and many other things that are not of God. And that means much of the church today is not born of God. But they like to think of themselves as Godly when they're not. People today go to church on Sunday, spend an hour listening to a weak gospel preaching, eat some donuts, then rush home to watch the football game while they stuff their faces with fatty snacks. This is not Godliness. It's a fake version of Christianity and people need to start taking it more seriously. This verse explains very clearly as to why. I thought David did well explaining this. I feel he could have taken it even further. We need preachers today who aren't afraid to convict people to get off their sinful train wreck of a life.

@@rebornasdavid David felt convicted that he had two responsibilities - to expound the truth and expose error/lies When he was young he made an agreement with God- he promised - that he would preach whatever God asked him to preach - wherever God asked him to go - no matter how unpopular that would make him David has many learning from his teaching worldwide - but he is not popular in churches and has not been for many years now Many churches have closed the door to the truth …..because it demands a change to the popular way we live

@@rebornasdavid So you never sin?
@rebornasdavid
@rebornasdavid Жыл бұрын
@@anthonywilliams3822 I don't continue to sin as I did in my old life. I don't curse, smoke, watch porn, or do any of the sinful things I used to do. I've gotten deliverance from the demons that were causing me to sin. And that process has taken some time which is why Paul wrote so many letters of correction to all the churches. I'm not quite 100% there, but I know I'm at the end of the road and I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel now finishing up the last of what is left. When I first got filled with the Holy Spirit I knew what it was like to NOT SIN AT ALL! He revealed to me what sin was cause even just being around it made me want to throw up. So while I may have a few things left to cleanse myself of, I don't sit here struggling with the same sin over and over for years. People need to confront their demons, cast it out to the pit, and remove all sin from their lives. We are called to walk like Jesus! When your sins are forgiven they are also forgotten. So go on Isiah Saldivar's deliverance map and find someone near you to pray for you when you are ready. And one day you as well can walk totally sinless and free from all bondage of the enemy. It's a lie from the devil to think that you're just stuck in sin.
