There's a great book called "catching fire: how cooking made us human" that details how we evolved since we began cooking food, particularly to benefit from cooked foods not only in terms of digesting it but also in terms of cognitive development, communication and socialization. I think some vegans want to claim that cooked foods are unnatural because then we can avoid the whole "cooking meat" debacle. Because admitting that meat isn't unnatural somehow contradicts veganism? As if we can't choose veganism for ethics without dramatic claims that eating anything other than bananas and figs will kill us? It's so annoying that this is what people think of when they hear veganism.

She doesn’t even consider that most children do not WANT to eat so much food at one time they constantly feel like they have this horribly bloated tummy or running to the bathroom with diarrhea. Regarding iodine, I would never ever rely on sea vegetables in general. The iodine content varies wildly depending on where these are harvested and good luck figuring out how much iodine are in your particular sheets of nori. On the flip side, you can overdose on iodine from sea vegetables. Iodized salt or supplements are just the simplest and easily measurable way to know you're meeting your needs
@laranadesign4764
@laranadesign4764 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Iodized salt exists for a reason and not for vegan kids specifically, just people in general. Why die or get really sick over something so preventable, you know? Nature doesn't care about you or your child [no one individually], that's why you do/should. It's up to a child's guardian/care taker/parent to do what is in their power to keep them healthy and safe. Letting nature take the wheel is pretty irresponsible when life saving options are readily available.
@nicolesapphire3696
@nicolesapphire3696 2 жыл бұрын
So true, it’s also silly considering you can get all the iodine you need from just a little bit of iodized salt for super cheap, you can even get iodized sea salt. Plus not everyone eats seaweed every day, nor do I know if it would be ok to eat seaweed daily, it might be but maybe not.

Nah, anyone who has only carried one pregnancy does not get to make grand pronouncements about how to make sure your own experience is as magical as hers. I was so comfortable and healthy with my first that I was allowed to go TWO WEEKS overdue. It didn’t phase me for a moment. My second pregnancy was the inverse; the first trimester left me feeling like I was going to crawl out of my own skin and I spent many nights considering if I wanted to terminate because I was so sick and miserable the whole time.

However, I started adding some cooked food (sweet potatoes, beans) into my diet to put on more weight and to get more iron, and to have more options when travelling. I do not think a mostly fruit diet is healthy, but many humans do eat this way.Raw Christina is wonderful promoting eating more raw, and that does not equal that she is a perfect human, none of us are. Question: most raw vegans seem to be heavily focused on fruit/vegetables - obviously. What do they think about raw grains? I mean, flour is still raw, as are oat flakes or dried (sweet) corn. Not sure how you would use them without baking/cooking, but do they use / eat those?

I know this is from months ago but I just stumbled upon this video it annoyed the heck out of me. In the time of school shootings and going viral causes our kids to do dangerous dumb things you’re disturbed by this woman promoting healthy living?!?! I don’t believe a raw vegan diet is the end all be all for everyone and I completely understand people who don’t agree with what she is promoting. That’s simple don’t do it! Don’t follow her on IG or simply don’t keep up with her. It worked for her and I know plenty of other people who it also worked for. The fact that you are tearing her down and judging her is problematic for me when they’re are so many other things that pose a real threat to our children. Like I said this was from months ago so I really hope you got it together and moved onto something more important. Stay blessed.

I would avoid strollers just because it’s boring to be in a stroller if you can already walk, and it’s awkward when you can’t walk yet because you can not properly interact with the parent/adult pushing you along. It depends on the configuration if the stroller but especially if the baby faces forward, the adult won’t see their small expressions and where they turn their head and what they’re noticing. When you’re a baby and you’re being carried close to your parent’s head, the parent sees whatever direction you’re looking and is able to guess what you’re looking at, and they start to talk about it and explain it for you. You learn anything you can pick up from language at that point, but more importantly you learn about how humans can notice what other humans are paying attention to and respond accordingly. And when the adult talks about things that you found scary or startling, or unusual things that you weren’t sure what to think about, you’re learning about how to stay calm and also about how an experienced human responds to different situations and how they use their face and voice to mirror the emotions that you experience, or how they express the emotions that they experience themselves. A lot of important learning happens during times when many babies are in strollers and don’t necessarily have access to the parent’s immediate feedback on things like that. (And yeah, parents do that stuff for their babies when they’re not on any ‘outing’, but I’m thinking of everyday things like grocery shopping where you’re going out and encountering a lot of different things and people. I see babies in those situations a lot who don’t seem to be getting any feedback from the parents/adults with them.) Obviously people should do whatever they need to do, if you have to walk long distances to get groceries or you have back pain then I’m not going to complain that your baby is in a stroller. I just wanted to say that there are more reasons to not like strollers than just being overly paranoid that they won’t develop properly unless they walk everywhere.

What I like about your criticism is your legitimate issues like liquid-rich diets for small tummies or breastfeeding as the only good nutrition for kids while tons of moms struggle without any explainable reason. Not to mention picky kids or neurodivergent kids that just won't eat many raw foods for only some foods. Good luck trying to feed them according to a head-heavy diet style.

Another question... do (raw)vegans get tested for B-streptococci during pregnancy? And if tested positive would they accept the treatment (antibotics)? Or does that go into the "no vaccines, no vitamin K" category? info: B-streptococci are very dangerous for newborns and they can get infected during birth if the mother has them. So where I live testing is standard and treatment is "highly recommended". They are not really a problem for the mother herself though so an 80-year-old woman wouldn't be recommended treatment because there is very low chance that she will give birth any time soon^^

Sadly, nothing. It was one of the (many, many) causes of high infant mortality. Because you wouldn't know *why* the baby just died, before regular autopsies you would have no way of knowing that they had a brain bleed. In the developed world in the 21st century it can be hard to understand just how common infant deaths used to be, and how incredibly varied the causes were. (In the 13th century in London you'll see "teeth" recorded as a cause of death in children, because they honestly believed that teething could cause a child to die.)
