You're not alone. I don't have any luck with those headbands either and they look strange on me too. I have tried bobby pins on each side to hold them in place, but it's only minimally better. A small octopus clip for your bangs might be a better option. I put one of those babies in and forget about it, sometimes even overnight.

What do you guys use to track nutrients? I am trying to get in on the vegan diet but really want to make sure I am being as balanced as possible. I tried a cronometer app but it was difficult to use and didn't recognize most of my food. I'm using my fitness pal currently but it only shows the most basic stuff, though it pretty much has all the food in the planet and is super easy to use.

And for dinner I made a huge lentil lasagna. Prepping for breakfast is really where I tend to fail :( I can't think of anything I could make a big batch of thats suitable for the mornings.

I'm reposting this, maybe you can get to read it: Unnatural Vegan, I really like what you do at this channel promoting rationality and science applied to diet and veganism. I would urge you to apply the same to your physical regime. Right now the standard of quality in the fitness industry is just appalling - pretty much anyone can be a "fitness professional". However there are some good professionals that follow scientific evidence such as Mike Boyle or Stuart McGill, who is the best back specialist at the moment. Please, let me ask you to have your back examined by a specialist and steer clear of fitness DVDs and fitness youtube channels (unless you're very sure of them; the ones you mentioned, blogilates, popsugar and fitnessblender, are nice to watch but not good quality). Remember the rule for healthy core stabilization exercises: they need to be anti-flexion, anti-extension and anti-rotation. Just to clarify, I'm not qualified myself but I've learned the hard way, after an unfortunate number of injuries, to listen to proper professionals. Physical exercise is healthy if done right, like diet is healthy if done right, and that means following scientific evidence not the bunch of handed-down myths that abound in the current fitness industry. Hope that helps. Wishing you and your family all the best
@UnnaturalVegan
@UnnaturalVegan 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm familiar with McGill. I read his VERY hard-to-read book years ago (I think he has one geared towards non-professionals now). I still follow many of his guidelines, including focusing on plank-style moves instead of crunches, sit ups, etc. I think some of his guidelines are overkill, that most of what works has to do with everyday posture rather than a few reps of crunches or supermans, i.e. maintaining neutral spine/slight anterior tilt/whatever you want to call it 99% of the time is what's going to make the biggest difference in how your back feels ... unless you're doing some pilates-style workout (aka Blogilates) with lots of bending-forward/spinal compression moves. Yea, don't do that. But for most people with general muscle soreness (like me), I highly doubt a few crunches once a week are going to make much of a difference, if any difference at all. That said, I do mostly stay away from these moves. And while I like Blogilates, I modify A LOT. And Fitness Blender, too. Like that barre video. I forgot to mention that I did any of the hip hinging moves (like the one in the thumbnail) kneeling on the floor. But I agree, most people should probably avoid Blogilates, FB, PopSugar, Cathe, virtually all fitness instructors. They focus too much on "core" exercises that aren't useful and are possibly harmful, do too much stuff seated (especially pilates and yoga), too much stuff bending forward, and don't do a good job explaining proper form. Unless people understand which movements to avoid and what moves to sub with (e.g. one arm rows kneeling on a bench or chair instead of standing bent over), they should stay away.
@noemibernal4882
@noemibernal4882 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply! I'm so glad to read what you wrote, especially that you were already aware of McGill. I actually also follow some of these videos for convenience and, like you, I also modify a lot. Some moves are not all that healthy but it's also good to stay active.

if nobody mentioned it I notice those head bands are usually used for make up. Like it gets the hair out of the way so you don't get make up in it. Or for cleaning your face so your hair doesn't get wet. Because I was confused until I watched a bunch of ladylike videos with them wearing them to cleanse their faces or apply makeup. so not for long term use I guess.

Stay Clear of grain until we can lobby glyphosate out. Eat vegetables as a main staple. Include white red and Sweet potatoes. Beans, nuts and seeds. To answer your head band question! They make cloth headbands with rubber like grips on the inside. I definitely recommend those. I've also had great luck using lululemon's headbands. Surprisingly only $12 each and they stay put, even without the rubber grips. I have a small head so I'm used to hats and headbands never fitting and those things work! shop.lululemon.com/p/women-headbands-hats/Fly-Away-Tamer-Headband-II-Lux/_/prod8601718?color=31728

i wear headbands a lot of all types... But I find that Think headbands don't work well for me either.... My hair is to thin/smooth silky so they always slide. PPl with Thicker more coarse hair have more success with think headbands. YOu can always try bobby pins tho. those can sometimes help stay in place.

Lululemon has those big headbands, but they have bits of rubber or silicon on the inside so it doesn’t slip. Put a couple bobby pins from the back of the headband and slide it to the front so it doesn’t slip back. Max 3. You should be good. 2 on top of your head, one at the back.

There are no slip sports headbands. They aren't magic or anything, but they work better than those kinds. Or just a clip of some kind to hold your bangs back. I never understood how people could wear those either. The only time I could was if my hair was down, and even then it wasn't a guarantee I wouldn't have to keep putting it back on from sliding.

You had a much healthier day than I did lol. I bought a fresh loaf of Italian bread and ate literally half of it with some white bean hummus I made 😂...then I wasn't hungry for the rest of the day so I just munched in fruit. Not a particularly good day.. But a yummy one. Btw my headbands do the same thing lol

When my hair got to where I could wear headbands and I was trying to be more feminine, I went into a shop and found these gorgeous headbands, they were the elastic ones but were all decked out in rhinestones and gems. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to put them on, mainly because I had never had long enough hair to deal with them. I felt so lost. I asked my friend who was with me "how do I girl?" and showed her the headband and she just laughed. Anyways you're not alone with that. I feel you. Also, try the thinner headbands, they will stay on better, also make sure that they have some grippy plastic underneath so it sticks to your hair.
