I have been at Mplungu. Standing in two feet of water tropheus came and were picking on my legs. So many all over the place. It took ride on the bus for 24 hours. One stop only. Props to that driver. Nothing but bush for whole trip. Few huts here and there. Could not figure out what are these people living of. Definitely not much. At the lake there is commercial fishery aimed for sardines. Many boats in the fleet. catches are huge. They have flash freezers for all the catch. There bycatch as well. Nile perch when 2 feet long is most delicious fish I ever ate.

Not worried about hybrids? If you’re shipping species specific lots it’s easy to differentiate the females?

yes, but I wouldn't buy such fish, every trooheus crosses easily (excluding Dubois), so it's only a matter of time before the tev fish will have young ones. and you can't be 100%. say that they won't be hybrid s . That's why pro importers always keep the tropheus separate. This proves their professional approach to this topic

Thanks for your comment.. As Rick states in the video - this is a short-term holding solution for wild-caught fish as they quarantine and await their final destination. While it's 100% possible they could "cross" while in quarantine, any females would be stripped of eggs prior to shipping. Zero chance of cross.
