Mass yesterday was an important reminder that storms are embedded within life. No one is exempt. Have you ever thought about the fact that in life here on earth every single person no matter who they are or where they are from faces struggles, pain, suffering, and ultimately death? So this is a fact of our human condition. And yet when it happens we are surprised? Taken aback? Unready? That doesn’t seem wise to me.
The gospel reading was about when Jesus was in the boat with his disciples and the storms came! Heavy storms. And Jesus was fast asleep in the back of the boat and the desciples were FREAKING out. They had no choice but to wake Jesus up and asked him ‘erm please o, are you going to watch us to die?’ Not exactly in those terms but basically that. And Jesus even before responding, commanded the storms to calm and the storms obeyed Him. Waow 😍! Major crush on Christ 🤗😍. Anyway back to the story - so AFTER He calmed the storm He reprimanded them saying Have you NO faith? Like… how can you be afraid when I’m here ???
The lesson? Listen, life will LIFE. Storms will come. Thunders will quake and shake. But GOD DEY. Our God lives. He is ALIVE AND WELL. Ideally, with faith, I won’t need to fear in the first place. But even if I am afraid, i just have call on Him. He will surely calm that storm. 🙏💕💕
