I’ve been a little obsessed with the effects you can create with a gelli plate. Watch me try it on some small wood panels that are part of a series I’m currently working on.

I adore your colour palettes and textures, and like what you're doing with your gelli plate. For me, gelli printing was the gateway that led to abstract painting and other printmaking techniques. Previous to the gelli plate I was a fiber artist (40+ yrs) but my loom now sits forlornly as I play with my gelli plates and paints. I enjoy the happy accidents that happen with printmaking.

I LOVE THE gelli plate too!! I bought one a few months ago. In fact Im gon play tonight:) Thank You for reminding me not to be precious about things...it helps me remember that with risk comes reward!:) p.s. has anyone ever told you what wonderful ASMR your voice is?❤

Fascinating! I really liked the way you sometimes smoothed some of the printed paint afterward with a wedge. Very nice contrast in textures.

Hello Jeannine. Nice video as usual. You inspired me some new ideas. In fact, I’ve done some experiments last month on wooden panel and canvas. It wasn’t that successful because of the size of my plate. It gave me a lot of sharp edges. But I have bigger plate now and I’m excited to redo the experience again. Thank you for sharing your creative ideas. ❤

I have a few different gel plates and I have never used them in this way. Very inspired to try this and to check out your other gel print videos. Thanks Jeannine! I am also very interested in exploring chine colle with my gel plate and using it over transparent painted papers (tissue, deli, etc.)

Jeannibne, what type of material(s) are your substrate/panels made of? They look almost like the linoleum we use in cutting block prints but I realize they must be some type of board or MDF?

Hi Deanna! Correct, they are a moister resistant MDF. I bought these back in 2020 when timber supply wasn’t great. I suggest you use Plywood.
