Just to clarify what I said in the video, there are a LOT of instances where you don't have to unpublish, you can just do an update! I would ALWAYS recommend updating whenever possible and make unpublishing a last resort! That way you can save your reviews and other hard work, and just make a few minor changes to the book (including the cover and manuscript) if needed!

I love seeing how you’ve handled all of the challenges that you’ve faced as a self-published author. Having to wear all the hats can be overwhelming and it’s awesome to see people sharing what, and how, they’re learning. It makes the whole process feel approachable.

I’d love to see a video of you talking about the pros and cons of draft to digital vs you uploading them yourself on each individual platform. Sounds like it’d be less of a hassle when you upload it once and they’re all there but maybe you’d be making more money uploading each one individually?

Sweet! I think I could incorporate that info into an updated "where I publish" type video... I might wait a little bit until I've tried uploading directly though, so I can share both sides accurately! :) (But yes, more money individually, as well as a lot more marketing opportunities)

Coincidentally, I recently updated my poetry book (cover, chapter names, added images). The page count was the same so the size is the same. It was only on KDP but there are three versions.

@@BethanyAtazadeh I have learned much more about book publishing and the KDP SEO since I first published it. I really like how the book looks now. I am awaiting my author copy to cath any errors I may have injected from the update.

I've written and published 21 ebooks so far. They're all script novels. Drama plays. I only write and publish for fun.

I have had to unpublish several projects, and it hurts, but the thing is, I'm glad I can unpublish stuff on KDP because I live and I learn and there are things that I have learned that I feel like I should have learned when I published my projects. Live and learn and then success will most likely come.

Hi Bethany I would love if you were to create a video if you do choose not to use Ingram Sparks and talk about what option would be a good replacement. I've watched many of your videos and I recall you talking about the difficulty with using ingramsparks and I know other authors that have talk about the difficulties with Ingram Sparks having to pay a fee to upload, having to wait to get paid etc. So I will be keeping an eye out in case you do that video. Thanks for a great videos you have created they've been very helpful.

Absolutely! But like I said in the video, some things like that you don't have to unpublish, you can just do the update! I would always recommend updating whenever possible and making unpublishing a last resort! :)

First of all I have to say your vids are the MOST helpful that I have found. Love them. I have a question however, I am new to publishing and am about to release my first book on Amazon in about a month. (Its in my editors hands right now) but I wanted to know how I can get some copies out to some readers pre release so i can get reviews and comments. Can it be hosted on KDP without being publicly accessible whereas I can provide a link to download for a selected few? Not sure how that works. Let me know if you have a video on this. Thanks.

Bethany, I self-published with iUniverse in 2019. They charge too much to print the books. And even at their lowest print rate, I don't make anything off the sales. I'd like to republish my book under my name in Kindle. And then then leave the original as is... What would you recommend under this scenario? Thank you for the video, and thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

I just unpublished a whole series because I am rewriting all of them rather dramatically. It's been a wild ride. I started this process back in January, but since then I've seen lots of people doing something similar this year. It seems to be the year to unpublish and republish books lol

Bethany ❤️ could I ask you for some advice? I published my poetry book in 2016 by myself on platform like Amazon I would say. But It was actually the second edition of this book. (I changed the cover and title) because first It was published by publisher company but It’s been just a awful experience (the book was taken down by them after some time, I never got to see the money from even few sell and this book wasn’t just available anymore to buy) BUT it’s still on the internet 😫 So I published this poetry book by myself after one and half year, but it was just so rushed. I don’t like the cover, and I would love to change the illustrations ( from black and white to full new with colors) and I would like to add some more poems. I don’t mind the same title though, I can change it too, but I don’t think that’s necessary and on the site that I published my book I can make these changes every 90 days with both books - ebook and paper version. What would you recommend? Unpublished this poetry book or just do update / republish? I know that some people already have ebook and print version of this book (even bought it this year), and I just would want to be fair, but it also just making me depressed and unhappy. I want to make changes but I’m just unsure about it and what exactly I suppose to do 😕 Please let me know what you think! I could also publish a second version? Of this book but….is it really a good idea? What would you recommend - republish or update? I don’t really know the difference 😟 Please let me know what you think! 😔

Good timing. I'm reworking my crime thriller series and will need to unpublished the original version, the collection. One person started itand gave it 1 star, and kdp won't help me remove it. So I can't sell it. 😕 so I'm starting fresh with a new version

If I published my paperback with kdp and they gave me a free isbn, can I unpublish it on kdp and then publish it on ingramspark using their free isbn? My goal is to have Ingram instead of kdp produce my paperback, but I still want it to link to my ebook and hardcover on Amazon. Do you think I can do that?

nope! the ISBN belongs to KDP and can only be used there. Use Ingram's free ISBN's if you work with them. Then just call Amazon and ask them to link the books when it's published.

I figure, if nothing else, I'll have several editions to correct typos and other minor fixes.

When it comes to typos and really minor stuff, I would always recommend just doing an update! You can actually reupload the manuscript for both ebook and paperback, and as long as there's no change to the paperback page count, that's totally fine too. Always update whenever possible, unpublishing is always a last resort in my book! :)

Also if you're publishing on these other platforms, does that mean you don't enroll in kdp unlimited? Cos I think kdp unlimited has exclusive rights

@@afiak7138 Hi, that is correct. If we publish wide, we can't publish in kindle unlimited because of the term agreement. Before publishing, it is always good to check up on the terms before publishing on a platform so we can know what the agreement is; that way, we don't have any issues later.

This would have been easier understood if it was shorter focused on one publishing platform, OR focus on one platform, complete info on one at a time, versus back and forth. 😵‍💫
