the loss of 20'000 Leagues Under The Sea quest is easily the most upsetting one to lose. But with modders creating mods like Sim Settlements 1 and 2, Fallout London, Fallout 4 New Vegas, America Rising, Countless weapon and power armour mods, its not hard to believe that maybe someday, someone get a team together to recreate the cut quest.

The only other in universe creature i could think of could be a fog crawler. They make loud noises, they stick to foggy areas, they seem to be able to swim in the ocean, and they're massive. Shipbreaker in far harbor got the nickname for attacking shipping vessels so maybe my hypothetical fog crawler made its way south to Boston in search of new prey and ships to attack

It could be either a mutated or possibly even unmutated baleen whale, such as a humpback or blue whale.. The rotting, deceased whales we see in the game can't be mutated river dolphins, as those live in South America. It's more likely those are mutated Cuvier's beaked whales or just mutated marine dolphins.

So some info from a modder: if you look in the CK, after you hear the "ghoul whale" speech, another resident of Bunker Hill will comment to you and tell you where to look...starting Here There Be Monsters for the Yangtze. It was always meant to be the Yangtze. Also the ghoul dolphins were involved in Vault 120 in some fashion: you can find their corpses litered all over it when it's backported from 76 to 4.

The official name of those dolphins are Dolfish, as stated in the F76 ATX. They are also confirmed to be Beluga whales in F76. Theres notes about it in the Atlantic City DLC in the Aquarium.

Imagine a The Red Death quest but instead of a joke you get to see the happiest, healthiest whale this side of the midnight zone.

Awesome job man! I really wish Old Peg was a DLC story(for the Commonwealth or Far Harbor). It would be so cool to throw harpoons at a mutated whale 🐳. Or maybe a harpoon gun called “the Pequod”. Hey, I can’t resist a good Herman Melville reference lol 😂. I do hope we see some more mutated sea creatures in the future games, comics, or TV shows.

There's a mod on Nexus by that name - 20 Leagues Under the Sea - Vault 120. As far as I can tell, it's not cut content, but recreated using Creation Kit.

Quite frankly... As many unrealistic, and outlandish things exist in Fallout... I'm glad they didn't have a vault overseen by a "Giant Sentient Squid". Some more sea creatures (that are actually _capable_ of fighting in the water) would most certainly have been cool. I mean...one of the scariest things about the ocean in general, and deep water in particular, is that it's populated with all manner of potentially dangerous life forms, both larger, and smaller, than we are! But in Fallout 4, all you need to do is take Aquaboy/girl, and the water becomes one of the safest places on the map. Animals can't attack in water, and you don't need to go very far out before guns become ineffective, and enemies begin to lose track of you. Having SOME SORT of threat out there would have been reasonable.

could have been exposed to FEV which we know causes massive growth and in the Ocean a body is under less strain to support itself (its why on land Behemoths dont get much bigger than they are as their bodys just cant take the strain of their size) so in theory it could be any Cetatean (even a Dolphn could be viable alongside the Beluga as we have in real life experimented with the intelligence and abilities of both) as FEV can alter its appearance.

A ghoul whale is very Interesting and opens up for a lot of questions about other ghoul animals. The crows/ravens, whatever they are, in Fallout 4 have patches of feathers missing and look zombified. Maybe they’re ghouls?

So we could have had a sentient squid telepathically talking to us meeting him 20K league under the sea style, being our friend to help us take down ol peg like Moby Dick, and Bethesda squandered this opportunity to be better than Fallout new Vegas for once? BRB gonna cry

Fun fact the bulby squishy part of the beluga whales head is called the Melon

The image from the cut vault 120 quest looks more like a giant barracuda to me. And honesty if any ocean life were to survive the fallout of the Great War it’d be barracudas they are already a vicious life form; add some rads to make it even bigger and you’d have a very fitting final boss

My first thought was a beaked whale. They're dorsal fins are very small and far back on the body, have a elongated snoot with sharp teeth and come in different sizes depending on the specific species.

That would have been the coolest quest on fallout 4 hands down. I wish they didn't have to cut content or at least keep working on it after the fact.

... Implying that ol' Pappy would see the beluga, recognize it's specific genealogy, but still be afraid and run off... Occam's razor isn't just a weapon in fallout 3.

I feel a beaked whale would be a better candidate for Ol’ Peg’s identity. Some of them can get quite big, up to 30 feet in some species, such as Baird’s beaked whale.

Those “ toothed whales “ look identical to the beluga whales that are seen lying dead on the floor of the beluga enclosure in the aquarium at broadwalk in Atlantic city( Fallout 76 ) And I believe you can see alive ones through a small window swimming around in one part of the enclosure. Belugas actually haven’t changed all too much from their pre-war design with perhaps larger teeth being the only visible evolutionary difference. With the exception of highly irradiated ghoul like creatures some of the deep sea life may have retained a lot of pre-war qualities as apposed to what’s found on land or in shallow waters perhaps due to the lack of F.E.V and/or radiation introduced into deep sea environments.

Peg is definitely a refence to Pogo. Pogo sticks only really have the main body of the pogo stick, and the pegs on the side.

Your theory about the Beluga I find interesting and very possible. However, what you said towards the end of the obvious fish in the picture, that's not a whale or a dolphin. The tailfin is that of a fish and if you look at the head there are gills drawn there

I dont think the dolphins looking thing is it. She did say her grandpa said it was enormous. Which implies it was bigger than any death claw and maybe even bigger than a super mutant behemoth.

Wow, this is actually incredibly clever. Beluga whale=blue ghoul whale. People mishear things all the time, and with so much knowledge lost after the Great War, people would have no clue what the hell "Beluga" is, but they would know what "blue" and "ghoul" means. Maybe the person hearing it thought the grandpa just had a funny way of talking lmfao.

The whale bones that you can find on the beaches of far harbour are far too old to be recent, bones don’t get that clean and dark easily, takes a long time, like say 200+ years. Those bones are likely from whales who got killed from either the blast, tsunamis washing them ashore or just those that succumbed to the nuclear fallout and didn’t survive.

The creature in the image had gills and a vertical tail fin so it wasn’t a whale.
