Let me know in the comments your favorite part.
This car is around 1/16 scale (slightly larger) and the build is based off of the 1940's style SCTA salt flat cars often seen at Bonneville and El Mirage. These cars were the original hot rod and this car would fit right in with the SoCal scene. It is mostly period correct with a flathead ford engine, Model A Ford grille and frame, Auburn dash with Stewart Warner gauges, and a Banjo steering wheel. The car has been channeled over the frame (the body is lower than the frame) and the frame has been double Z'd front and back (both the front frame rail and back frame rail are raised, while the middle of the frame is dropped all the way to the ground, in a Z shape) the car also has a 9" ford rear-end and a drop style front axle. Smooth steel wheels, dog dish hubcaps, and bias-ply style tires complete the look.
The frame rails, axle shafts, exhaust, windshield posts, and steering column are all handmade out of K&S brass and tin solder. The engine, wheels, and rear axle pumpkin are cast in pewter from 3D printed parts. The grille is hammered steel sheet metal, the steering wheel is sourced from a keychain ring, and the details of both are made out of sewing pins. The headlights are pennies plated in solder, The hubcaps are made from wire wheels for a dremel, the tires are molded in Enduro-Soft rubber. The seat was hand shaped from foam covered in a faux-suede material, and the floorboard is hand formed from a piece of tinned sheet metal, braced with sections of K&S brass rod.
This is very custom, but the original restoration is of a 1960's Nylint "Jalopy"

The 'Thumbs up' reference: one of the very few times that I got 'something in my eye' watching a movie at the cinema. 😆😆😆 Great custom. Always nice when in a larger scale. 👍👍👍

Absolutely awesome!! Just wish I didn't destroy everything I got as a kid. Now I regret being a kid that destroyed everything just for fun. :( wish I knew where to find all the good toys again, I'd learn to fix them up or have someone like you do it for me.

This model is so awesome! When I was a teenager, I was really into resto-customs -- old-looking cars, but with some modern hardware to make them more usable. This is very much the same idea. I love all of the custom and hand fabricated parts. Thank-you for this video!

Fantastic job! I wasn't initially on board when you sectioned the body, but it came together very nicely.
@Toystorations
@Toystorations 2 жыл бұрын
It was a tough choice, but when I started measuring a real car and doing the math, the body was much too tall to be realistic, and I wanted it to sit like a real one. I agree that it came together quite nicely, sometimes I just sit and look at it.

@@mimimoose1831 Their COE Ford is probably my favorite truck, I love all of their U Haul stuff as well, and of course the roadsters and hot rods they make. They've done a lot of cool stuff, they're really underrated compared to Tonka. I always liked their private label semi's, I have one for a local grocery store :)
