And keep in mind that Sinatra hated The Beatles and used to mock them in private and in public. He was shocked to learn that his nemesis band was responsible for such beauty. An irony in "Something" is that, for all the love pouring out of George for his wife Patty in this song, in real life he treated her with stoic coldness and a stone heart. Her constant loneliness and misery are what pushed Patty into the arms of Eric Clapton.

These were their wives at the time. Linda McCartney, Maureen “Mo” Starkey, Yoko Ono, and Pattie Boyd Harrison. Pattie Boyd had 11 songs written about her by George Harrison and Eric Clapton, who she would later marry. Pattie was an international model. Something, Layla, and Wonderful Tonight are three of the 11 songs.

This song in my opinion was George's crowning glory, I mean it's a killer song from him, and he knew it, all the tones and the vocal quality are absolutely exceptional. Other Beatles songs written by George that I really love are Within you without you, Long long Long, While my guitar gently weeps, Here comes the Sun, Blue jay Way and Savoy truffle.. All the women in the song video became the Beatles respective wives, however George's wife Patti Boyd (blonde girl with bun) later fell in love with Eric Clapton and parted with George after Eric wrote Layla for her and professed his love to her, making her weak in the knees and so she married him. True ..but on the B side there is a hidden master piece in " I want you' she so heavy"...the entire Abby road " album was a beautiful surprise for all Beatles fans in 1969. It was another different, like all their other albums. I experienced the days of Beatlemania as I was 9 yrs. Old in 64' and felt the entire power of Beatlemania. They were Hypnotic to children like dolls they looked so clean and song about simple understandable love songs. They were so magnetic at the time, it was fantastic to have them and so by 67' Beatles ruled !! The words for this Album is fantastic, electrical, master voices, excellent musicianship, awesome dynamic Beatles!!

@@stevens5541 Unfortunately for George, his age and adoration of John Lennon put him in a lesser-than subservient position within the band. _Something, Here Comes The Sun, Only A Northern Song, For You Blue, Blue Jay Way, Piggies, I Me Mine, I Need You, Taxman, If I Needed Someone, Not Guilty (written for Paul), Old Brown Shoe_ are all good George songs. All of The Beatles were lucky. Capitol Records rejecting The Beatles in early 1963 actually helped propel them to success in early 1964 because it created a backlog of songs that radio stations could play to capitalize on Beatlemania. By the the time 1965 rolled around there were almost 60 Beatle songs.

@@stevens5541 George was amazing and has a talent for putting thoughts and feelings together for a song unlike anyone else. Apart from John and Paul, George would have been his own huge success, as he was when they parted. George's songs while a Beatle are some of the most recognized Beatles songs to people who didn't actually follow them, and they are some of the greatest songs to true and blue Beatles fans.

The women in the video were their wives. John and Yoko stayed together until John's death. Paul and Linda stayed together until Linda's death. George's wife became the subject of Eric Clapton's song Layla and they broke up. George stayed with his second wife Olivia until he passed. Ringo divorced and married actress Barbara Bach and I believe they're still together today. All of them, except Paul, married young during the early Beatle days. Paul was a bachelor living in London during those years, the most bohemian of the bunch. He ended up marrying Linda Easton in 1969, the last year of the Beatles and the year that video was made.

George wrote and sang this song for his wife, Patty Boyd. She's the adorable blonde in the video. What George did not know is that Patty had fallen in love with George's best friend, Eric Clapton, whom most people considered the world's greatest guitarist. (Mind you, Clapton held Jimi Hendrix as the world's greatest axeman.) Anyway, Clapton at the time was in the band Derek and the Dominos and he wrote the instant classic, "Layla" for Patty. You must try "Layla" soon, but not the unplugged (acoustic) version that Clapton recorded years later in concert. You must hear the original studio version by Derek and the Dominos. Its tortured passion is off the charts, sung by a man torn between his love of his best friend and great musical collaborator, and the sad young beauty whom he cannot resist.

Ms. "Messy Bun" = Pattie Boyd, known as the greatest muse in all of rock music, because she inspired 4 of the greatest love songs ever written. SOMETHING was written for her by her husband, Beatles guitarist George Harrison. John Lennon AND Paul McCartney agreed that it was the best song on the Abbey Road album. Meanwhile, George's best friend, Cream guitarist Eric Clapton (who played lead guitar on George's classic WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS) was secretly falling in love with Pattie. After Cream broke up, Clapton recorded an entire album about his unrequited love for his best friend's wife. However, to avoid fully facing the truth and outing himself publicly, Eric used the band name Derek And The Dominoes. Similarly, Pattie was called LAYLA, which was the title of both the album and the epic song at the end. LAYLA remains not only one of the greatest love songs of all time, but one of the best rock songs ever, as well. BELL BOTTOM BLUES, from the same album, is equally passionate but slower. Eventually, Pattie left George for Eric. WONDERFUL TONIGHT is a far more tender and gentle song that Eric wrote about a romantic night out with Pattie, and rejoicing in the perfect magic of that moment. George remained Eric's friend until the day he died. SOMETHING BELL BOTTOM BLUES LAYLA WONDERFUL TONIGHT (If you do these, play the original studio recordings) PEACE

The funny thing is frank Sinatra called this a Lennon and mcartney song. It's a George Harrison song and he's singing it also. Their producer George martin said they have to make this the best song on the album. George poked fun at what frank said on one of his albums but it was all in fin I think.

Written about George's wife Patti Boyd, who flirted with famous guitarist Eric Clapton, who wrote the famous song Layla about her, then married her, then wrote Wonderful Tonight about her.

They were their real life love interests, however George’s wife was a model, the one with the on point bun. The song was written for her.

Thx! Those were their wives. Patty Boyd is who the song was for. She later made it with Eric Clapton with George’s blessings! Yoko Ono is John’s wife, Linda McCartney and Ringo married Barbara Bach. -Terry, Canoga Park

C’mon bro! She shouldn’t have to ask you three times if you feel that way about her. And your answer has to be more passionate than that. It’s okay cuz you two are great together, but you gotta let her know!

I'm so grateful you guys know the Beatles well enough not to play after Beatles songs. I've seen channels that will credit the Beatles for My Sweet Lord, Band on the Run, even Imagine. None of them are Beatles songs. Those were solo work after the Beatles broke up.
