​@@dextersbeard3472 runs like ass on any medium/large map with more than a couple of participants. Frame rate is super unstable and can be anywhere between 10-60 fps. Should've been capped at 30 like the (impressive) Quake 3 port

Dreamcast PowerVR2 chips directx texture compression and 480p VGA kills PS2 on graphics quality. Even PS2 have double sizes Main memory.

PS2 EE+GS have extreme calculations power of polygons, but Sony also extremely stupid choose RDRAM for the main memory. The GS cannot seek and sync enough data from storage especially for loading texture. In UT situation, We talk about 2000. Not 2004 G.O.W. Teams lower the no. of colour of textures to reduce the textures sizes.

PS2 has KB/Mouse support, a better map selection and more characters.

Na real a do Dreamcast tem algumas limitações espelhos não refletem, luzes não tem lens flares talvez a qualidade saia um pouco mais nitida por que o DC tem sinal vga, diferente do PS2 que é cabo componente e ainda tem interlacing

Na verdade está certo, o DREAMCAST tem uma placa de vídeo melhor que a do PS2, teoricamente ele faz uma imagem mais limpa,com mais definição e texturas Melhores por tem a placa de vídeo com mais recursos, filtros,memória de video e etc,porém o DC tem menso ram,teve que excluir alguma mapas da vers de ps2

O PS2 não tem filtro bilinear,foi o único da geração que não teve,por isso muitos jogos tem borrão e serrilhado

Mas mesmo que usem esse jogo como base de crítica,tem diversos outros que ficam inferiores no PS2,poucos sabem que a placa de vídeo do Dreamcast é melhor!

People always was and always will influenced by magazines,digital influencers etc... people are lazy to analyze things and see what is best or worse...DC is a hell of machine,PS2 won the generation with the weakest hardware possible..DC,GC,XBOG all are a lot better in all aspects

​@@rafawise83martin62 ps2 was significantly more powerful than Dreamcast. Games like MGS2, Gran Turismo 3, Silent Hill 2, Devil May Cry and Jak & Daxter all ran at a stable 60fps and were far more impressive than any DC equivalent. And so they should've been- the Dreamcast launched way back in 1998- a whole 18 months before the ps2. It was an amazing machine for its time but let's not rewrite history here.

It wasn't entirely because of DVD's, It was partly because of how HUGELY successful the PS1 was, and Sega having had poor previous consoles, Saturn was worse in every way than the PS1 and cost more, nobody I knew had or wanted a 32X, the Mega CD required you to already own a Mega Drive to use. I mean out of the 3 consoles that launched after the DreamCast, I would say the PS2 was the weakest technically, certainly had worse graphics than the OG Xbox and GameCube. But because it was A. Cheap and B. the Sequel to the PlayStation, it sold like hotcakes. I still find it weird how people still say the GameCube was a console aimed at kids, I mean it had a lot more mature games for it than any Nintendo console up to that point, they also had a lot more 3rd party games, probably noticed how their restrictions on content/lack of 3rd party developers hurt the N64 against the PS1. I mean sure it had a little carry handle and was bright purple, and the discs were like mini-cd sized along with the memory cards. But there were certainly a lot of games on it that WERE NOT appropriate for children.

Acho que se o console tivesse alcançado o grande sucesso eles teriam que lançar outro controle, acho o controle bonito e legal, mas não servia para muitos jogos que viriam naquela geração.

Nada a ver o jogo se saiu muito bem mesmo sem o outro analógico não perde na jogabilidade

😂adding the word vibrant doesn't make it more true. The PS2 version looks like a washed out mudpool. The colors AND res are way better on the Dreamcast. Also mouse and keyboard on Dreamcast. "Vibrant colors" 😂

Comprar o clock em arquiteturas diferentes não faz muito sentido. Mas sim, a GPU do DC era extremamente capaz para a época e é uma pena que tenha durado tão pouco.

Incorreto, jovem. A PowerVR 2 do DC tem 100mhz de clock. A Emotion Engine do PS2 é 299Mhz. Isso é apenas um exemplo de jogo mal portado. Queria ver o DC rodar GT4 ou God of War 2, mesmo a 15fps. Explodia.

@@fabio78 Cada jogo é criado/portado de acordo com as capacidades do hardware, então, roda sim, mas com os devidos compromissos. Comparando os 2, não há grandes vantagens para um ou outro, pois, são muito próximos, principalmente se você coloca GC e Xbox na equação. Novamente, comparar clocks quando a arquitetura é diferente, é perder tempo.

PS2 não era isso tudo amigo, além de não ter filtro bilinear(que evita os serrilhados) não era isso tudo,gamecube e Xbox 1 se mostraram superiores e dreamcast em muito quesito supera o PS2

@@sandromarquesferreira7321 Acho você não entendeu que eu falei, fui irônico com a geometria do PS2, que a Sony falava que o console fazia 20 milhões de triângulos, mas na pratica fazia mesmo tanto de triangulo de um Dreamcast, aí eles inventam a desculpa de devkit e etc que não era incrível a geração toda no final ficou por isso mesmo, galera passa pano até hoje.

It was the Fortnite of it's day. This was *the* game to play with your friends. Yeah, Quake 3 was alright, but this was so much better!

Fortnite more or less killed off the Unreal Tournament Reboot they were working on. Servers shut down this year.(Even though it hadn't been updated since 2017)

What's infuriating about the PC version, is there is no legal way to buy it digitally anymore. Epic delisted it from everywhere. Thankfully I already purchased it and UT04, so I can at least still download them.

In this generation, Gaming PC(at the same time) have 4times of Power more than The consoles. No meaning to compare with them.

@@poluticon so you only see what you want to see because the frame drops on Dreamcast are crystal clear even on this smaller stage. PS2 is locked at 30 do deliver a more stable presentation, but you obviously don't care about that.

It seems all of you don't have played enough both versions, you've just seen this clip. I assume you all played ASSAULT mode in Dreamcast with Female characters... how many bots can you play on Flux on Dreamcast, for example...? (...) Both console versions are pure shit compared to the PC, that's a fact, but compared to PS2, the unstability, lack of characters, addition of lots of small non-vanilla maps to help the frame-rate, texture resolution and some detail textures cut... sorry but not. PS2 is little bit more polished.

The PS2 has a crappier framerate, did you even watch the video?

DC framerate is unlocked so in a vid like this on a small map with one enemy it runs fairly well. On any larger map it absolutely tanks. PS2 maxes out at 30 and generally stays above 25. As I said I owned both versions, ps2 was always more playable even though DC is probably my all time fave console

Dreamcast also has more maps which is more important than better lighting, especially in such a fast-paced game.

Don't confuse the idiots with facts!

I just watched the DF video and it's a toss-up. DC is cleaner and runs better, plus it has MORE MAPS! Sure the PS2 has more visual tricks. However in a fast game like UT, I'd say some visual tricks don't matter that much. Back in the day it was a no-brainer as only the DC version was online, which is why I only got that version. Although it was neat PS2 has LAN support. This game should have gone to Xbox instead of Unreal Championship, an arguably inferior title. UT99 is the best.
