It is unfortunate that this report wasn’t approached from an objective journalistic viewpoint. Why not give the topics discussed in the 100s of videos, the CV’s of the presenters, the reasons why the videos have been seen billions of times as your introduction into the success of PragerU? Have you noticed how “conservatives” who believe in conserving the good stuff get labeled “right wing “. All this report did was again show me that legacy media is in big trouble because of time constraints always present stories from their agenda. BTW, Chuck, can you please tell me what are the Ten Commandments?

"Unschooling" means no curriculum, not either a right or a left curriculum. This is a total misnomer. I "unschooled" my son from 2003 to 2010. Public education failed us for a number of reasons. He is now an honors student at one of the world's top universities. He's a History major.

I support PragerU. Need to remember you don’t NEED TO BE AN EDUCATOR TO TEACH! We want children to be given information, and to use their own free will to come to their own conclusions. We also want children to know that the love of Christ is bigger than any on this earth, and that they are significant in God's eyes. That they not only have worth, but a purpose in this world.

@@jodihouts6032 Do you know what I hear when I hear this - we want children to be informed about what we believe so they can believe they are coming to use their own free will to believe what I believe. Giving children information and using their free will means giving them information - all information. Not just the information we want them to know. It means teaching them that Jesus is *A* reason for the season - not *THE* reason for the season and teaching them that dozens of holidays, from a variety of faiths and cultures are celebrated between November 1 and January 31. It is allowing a child to see differences - and see how things are at home - and deciding if that is what they choose to believe. You are absolutely welcome to teach your child about Christ. You are absolutely welcome to teach your child that God is the only way. You can do that - - but you don't have the right to teach that to other people's children unless they invite you into that (like as a sunday school teacher, youth pastor, even family friend) . You do not have the right to make people who don't believe this way - to conform to your way of thinking.

What do schools of the '30s look like? They were schools that taught reading, writing and arithmetic; not much else. Schools of the '30s produced students, who in the 5th grade knew more than most students who graduate high school today. Those types of schools are what PragerU wants for today's children. As for book banning: there has always been book banning. If you were to step foot in a public library, you would know there's an adult section and a children's section. That's simply because some materials are not proper for children.

My mother was an exceptional writer, so much so that once an English professor questioned a college paper she had "edited" for me, noting it seemed professionally written. She was widely recognized for her writing prowess. When I inquired about how she honed her skills, she attributed much of it to her elementary school education between 1938 and 1944. A significant part of her learning involved studying Latin and mastering the skill of wordplay to express ideas with precision and clarity.

A human being’s first ‘job is to be an a scientist explorer, using all senses to acquire unbiased information about their surroundings. The baby emerges from an aquatic environment to a radically different air environment. Life depends upon using the senses and the brain to make decisions about safety and comfort. The data collected comes directly from the source. The first job is to be a scientist, usually using a trial and error method. A ‘teacher’s job” is to equip the seeker with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to make those discoveries in a life-affirming manner in all “subjects.”

Attended a private, Christian elementary and middle school in FL and a secular, college prep high school in FL. Graduated in mid-2000s. The curriculum skewed heavily to the right, glossing over complicated aspects of American history. My college education balanced me out, it did not "indoctrinate" me into becoming some radical communist. Today, my wife is a public school teacher (elementary) in "liberal" New England. Never once has she been asked or forced into teaching CRT, talking about preferred pronouns, etc. Conservatives would lead you to believe there's an epidemic of indoctrination running rampant through our nation's schools - it's not true. Talk to actual teachers. What is true is that this political pressure cooker is pushing teachers out of the profession and exacerbating the shortage that actually impacts our kids' education.

I don’t think teachers are quitting just because they see opinions on the news. Most teachers who quit say it’s mostly because they aren’t allowed to discipline the students in any way, so if there are bullies in the classroom, they almost have to surrender the classroom to them. Other reasons are that they lack resources, and there are also those who don’t agree with the school programs.

He did not specifically cite Libs of Tik Tok, though such people can easily be found there speaking in their own words. Or do you think those people are fake and none exist in real life? Many of them have been located and spoken to or have other social media confirming their views and teaching jobs. While I would agree these people are outliers, they do hold jobs across our nation, bring their nonsense into our children’s classrooms, and often are allowed to continue. In Oregon cities, they are common and may in fact be politically dominant in our schools. Our state Dept. of Education actually says there are no longer correct answers to math problems, and no testing of any kind is required to demonstrate proficiency to receive a diploma. Why would any employer hire someone with an Oregon high school diploma any more without administering their own test for literacy and math skills? If illegal aliens find this out, they will descend here to get a diploma so they can get work without being able to speak or read English.

I don’t think it’s that simple. I agree the rah rah America and white washing of history is dumb when conservatives do it. But it’s a backlash to the left denying how exceptional the American experiment truly is. It’s not a I’m American so America is great, it’s an appreciation for the genuine uniqueness of our founding principles. The focus of the article, PragerU being brought into schools is objectionable. We should also be asking why Pearson Publishing has such enormous control over what goes into K-12 textbooks, and PSAT SAT testing. They become the default curriculum architects, and they hold power over school boards across the country. There are other publishers of curriculum materials, McGraw Hill, and Harcourt. But they do not have the same leverage as Pearson. I don’t know the answer, but I am concerned when teachers lose the opportunity to create a balanced vibrant environment for their students. They are being pressed by parents, administrators, dept. of Ed., and their own students. It’s a job within the job, and educators are (by my observation) overworked, asked too much, and compensated below their worth to the community. In the end our children lose.

These reporters who deny the left wing ideology is in schools - including grammar schools - need to do a deep dive muck-rakers field day on King and Snohomish county schools in Washington State. I can testify that its been in classrooms there at least since 1985. It began with "objective looks" at America that favored Socialist and Eastern philosophical perspectives with heavy doses of the harm the US has done in the world with a list of dates and facts to memorize about history but no context that show that outside of helping defeat Hitler, America had done any good in the world. The gender confusion was by at least 4 years ago when my nieces and nephews were in school. And the DEI integrated math lessons etc are on the web as the King County curriculum statement. It is true. At least in Western WA. By the time I graduated from high school I didn't realize how little I really knew - but I was overtly ashamed of being American. 35 years later I looked up my old high school history teacher and he is now a fairly prolific and openly Socialist writer. I didn't start questioninfg the perspective on America until I wa 30 and met a Canadian with a radically different idea of America's work in and affect upon the world.

My kids graduated from Florida schools in the late 2000s, early 2010s. If there was any indoctrination by commission and omission in their educations, I’d say it was right-leaning. One topic I’m reasonably educated about is the Seminole Wars, 1810s to 1850s. The constant period of active and passive warfare by the federal government against the Seminole was directly connected to the Indian Removal Act of 1830, new laws used to justify violating treaties, and the Trail of Tears. The Second Seminole War, 1835 to 1842, established precedents for the Indian Wars up to the 1890s, or 1920s depending on how one counts the Indian Wars. The directly-related Florida Armed Occupation Act of 1842 set national precedent for coming generations, too. But reading my children’s textbooks and hearing about their classroom discussions you’d know about Seminoles killing Maj. Dade’s unit, have the impression that started the Second Seminole War, and move onto the Florida land rush of the 1840s having never heard of the Armed Occupation Act. And, that was a wrap on the topic.

The issue goes deeper than just what curriculum is being used. In the 1930's, you didn't need two or three levels of administration to ensure that public education had someone to enforce all kinds of social issues, from bussing kids out of their neighborhood schools for racial balancing, counting the number of carrots on the lunch tray, having DEI coordinators, filling those positions with the right number of people of color, women, etc., buying Black Lives Matter curriculum for Black History Month, all the while seeing declining reading and math skills. Look around the percentages of college faculties who support left wing policies. I am in my 53rd year of teaching in public schools. I teach chemistry and physics and the colleges aren't producing teachers in those fields so I will teach as long as my health holds up. The “professional development” required to keep teacher certification in most states has been a joke since the 1990's. A lot more “touchy-feely” stuff rather than how to teach with the technology tools of the 21st century. Education budgets are always tight and we need to sharpen our focus. I look at my students frequently and wonder if our nation ever had to launch a “Doolittle Raid” or put a Hitler out of power if we have the youth with the values, skills, and patriotism to defend America, cherish liberty, and prevent the genocide of minorities. Ask Harvard how the current model of educational leadership is working for them. Teacher Unions put students last and their politics first. Prager U is not the entire answer, but it is a step in the right directions n.

The videos do not present a theory of history, meaning where in the historical timeline does slavery, feudalism and capitalism happen is not presented as a continuing saga, a story of mankind with dramatic beginnings and endings, so that particular events are not seen as expressions of the whole process of human development and the videos suggest development stops right here with us right now, and that in itself, assumes permanency. History shows nothing is permanent. The present feels permanent because mass movements are slow to develop. When they reach a certain pitch of intensity mass movements change the world overnight. We don’t feel the force of Earth’s tectonic plates until the plates drop on top of each other and break open. Only then do the invisible forces become felt. The education system is polluted with right wing politics because of the bureaucracy of education, not in spite of it, it brought this opposition on to itself by centralizing power. Any opposition to it must come from within, a take over, a coup dé etat, kick out the liberals and install the conservatives though infiltration,--- is the way to destroy the bureaucracy. The education curriculum is only a catalyst to that end. The kids are still undermined.

Why are so many misguided people in the comments saying the news anchor owned the guy by mentioning 1930's segregation at the end? At 14:31 Prager specifically mentioned his idea of a good education was the 1930's style minus the offensive and bad parts which we can easily assume includes segregation so bringing that point up again after it was addressed was irresponsible and showed a strong bias in reporting. He was likely shocked she would go so low as to insult him by implying he would support segregation. It was an extreme use of a straw man argument and to imply it like that at the last moment when he had no time for rebuttal is shameful. Prager's supporters are clearly supporting the teaching of history, philosophy, great historical works of literature, and American exceptionalism that was taught in the 30's and led to the rise of America as a superpower being the educational foundation of the "greatest generation", but I guess many people today believe if there were a few problematic beliefs at the time we should throw out bath and baby both. I think it is also worth pointing out many of the colleges criticized by Prager for the new Marxist style of teaching are legitimately reintroducing forms of racial segregation today and creating POC only safe spaces, classes, and events which exclude white students. They also often champion racial equity quotas that will exclude white or Asian students who score higher on standardized tests than other admitted students from diverse backgrounds. Conservatives tend to side with Martin Luther King's dream of complete equality and institutional color-blindness, rather than risking a repeated cycle of racism and resentment by punishing races today in search of a nebulous equity. The left is correct to point out that this approach leaves many groups disadvantaged by history, but we can try solving those issues through fair policy changes such as adding school choice and uncoupling property taxes from local school funding which perpetuates inequality as they pointed out. I am not sure if Prager has the right ideas for improving schools or not since more has changed since the 30's than just the culture, but the US education quality is quickly falling below that of many countries that spend a fraction of what the US does per child, so I at least respect him for trying to point out problems and offer his solutions for free. People should absolutely fact-check his content before use in schools, but it is a tad hypocritical for a politically biased news channel to complain about politically biased information being given to kids. If they really think biased content that might mislead people by omitting perspectives is unacceptable, they should all quit their jobs. This whole reporting felt like an anti-Prager attack advertisement. They dig into him for not be accredited and being politically right wing, yet not once did they report anything in his educational content was factually incorrect about history or capable of causing mental or emotional harm in children. Bill Nye was not an accredited "Science Guy", but I have not heard demands to remove his educational videos from schools due to that. The reporters here just claimed that kids found Prager videos more engaging to watch than reading their textbooks and it taught kids a different political perspective on history, which alone honestly does not sound dangerous to me. If teachers feel it omits an important perspective, they could easily add content or commentary on that as well and everyone wins. The only reason for a school to outwrite ban factually true information with a political perspective is if they do intend to indoctrinate kids by only providing other perspectives, so blowing this story out of proportion like this for no reason only makes Prager supporters seem less crazy to the average person when they claim that there is a conspiracy to do just that in schools today which will only increase his support base. Perhaps facts without political perspectives taught in schools are preferable, but with topics like history that is near impossible and students who are incapable of detecting political bias will be misled by the first news station they ever watch if they don't learn how to identify it and think critically in school as well so no parent should ever want their kids to never be exposed to other views.

The man literally said we shouldn’t bring politics into school. We shouldn’t be teaching political ideology in school, and then literally use the political slogan right afterwards. How can the man argue he’s not for politics in school right wing politics in school when he kept saying Donald Trump’s political slogan, over and over and over again.

I can't wait for that video about how bad slavery was. Also, if Dennis wants to celebrate people who did good when bad was so ubiquitous, I'll look forward to the PragerU kids deep dive into Saint John Brown.

I once highly respected journalists at NBC, believing they reached their positions through thorough, tough, and fair journalism. If you share this view, that's fine, but many, including myself, disagree. I want you to consider how news stories are presented to you. While it may be entertaining, does it really offer the other side's viewpoint? Long interviews might be less entertaining and currently being criticized for giving a platform to misleading voices. But as a liberal, do you think people are incapable of making their own judgments? If this strikes a chord with you, consider exploring sources beyond those you currently trust as arbiters of good and bad information. Or maybe you only want vetted information? Or maybe you want others to only receive vetted information ([insert better good excuse]) ).
