An in-depth study of Moses 1 and Abraham 3, which tell of Moses' epiphanies and Abraham's astronomy/theology lesson. This lesson focuses on proving the contraries of "the Infinite" and "the Intimate" when it comes to God, and "Dust" and "Divinity" when it comes to ourselves; overcoming the adversary; focusing on what matters most; the "orbits" of stars and souls; the premortal plan; and more. Join Jared Halverson for your weekly Come Follow Me study of the Old Testament!

I and my father are former Baptist ministers. I am 83 years of age. We both discovered the restoration by an intervention by the Holy Ghost to read the Book of Mormon. We took the discussions and found the teaching of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made sense and is True. We discovered the Fullness of the Gospel. Who we are, why we are here, why life is so short and where we go when we die. That was 51 years ago. Dad and Mom are in Heaven and I know it. I am currently the Ward organist in Largo Florida. Thank you for your lessons and work in the Service of Jesus Christ.

Ok BroHal, you can’t expect to tell us about all your hit Bible songs without posting them, can you? Can you?... But really, I'm just grateful for your videos. I so appreciate everything that I'm learning from you! I have a 2 month old baby who doesn't always let me sleep, and you've gotten me through some long nights! I have to admit that I was intimidated by your channel all because of the name, because I sure feel shaken sometimes... But then of course, I learned how much you want to work with those of us who feel that way, and I'm so grateful!

Couldn't be more excited that you've chosen to continue to share your time & talents with us for the Old Testament year of study - I was more than a little nervous that you'd decide that the years of teaching us the Book of Mormon and D&C were sufficient. Thank you, thank you. Praying that the Lord will sustain you and your family whilst you walk through the OT with us.

We missed you! We are so looking forward to learning together a book I really like. I fell in love with scripture in the Old Testament teaching Gospel Doctrine many years ago. Thank you so much for your time and efforts. We are amazed at the sacrifice you are giving so we can love the scriptures more and find hope in a time of turmoil in the world. We listen to you and Follow Him because you have complimentary lessons. I pray for you often as my husband and I have wonderful conversations about what we learn as he works away from home right now so we listen independently. Once again thank you and to your family who also sacrifices time with you.

The worst days of my life were my baptism, endowment, and marriage, for Satan was attacking as never before. Darkness surrounded me in stark relief. Yet it mattered not, for regardless of what came and what comes, the only thing that matters is moving forward in the name of the Lord. At all points, I stood unshaken. God bless, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Amen.

The lesson this week reminds me of a song I like from a Christian singer Nicole Mullen. ‘’Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning? And who told the ocean, you can only come this far? And who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening? Whose words alone can catch a falling star? The very same God that spins things in orbit Runs to the weary, the worn and the weak And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken. They conquered death to bring me victory. “ Proving divine contraries.

Thank you for capturing my attention with the Spirit. I feel it so strong while listening, and even though you go on and on, I go back and listen to segments multiple times. When I was in the MTC, and on the night before leaving to go to the Netherlands, I was about to finish the Book of Mormon (which our group would read every night for an hour before going to our rooms to go to bed) and I sat in the common area to read by myself and I read the promise Moroni gives in Moroni 10 and then knelt in prayer asking Heavenly Father for a spiritual witness. Several minutes into the prayer, that spiritual witness came to me. And like a child wanting more gifts on Christmas morning I asked for more, and He granted my wish and the tears began to flow without stopping. I feel that same Spirit while listening to you.

A personal experience of feeling of being caught up: When my dear friend Amanda Wilson decided to take her own life after the death of her husband and the suicide of her son months earlier, she decided she could bear the loneliness & depression any longer. My heart ached for her and possibly even her salvation, knowing that she had decided to take her own life, one of the most severe sins man can do. For God giveth life & only God can taketh life. When I was sitting in the pew at the church waiting for the family to come into the chapel I mourned for her and it only got deeper, sadness overcame me when we started singing the song Until We Meet Again. During this musical hymn, I couldn’t help but wonder if I would meet her again. I recall sobbing uncontrollably because of my deep concern for her salvation; I was so concerned for Amanda that it was causing me incredible grief. It was during this song when I felt a weight on my shoulders and words in my mind that everything would be okay. It was so real that I turned to see who was putting their arm or hand on my shoulders, there was no one sitting in the pew behind me. It was at this very moment, when I recognized His peace envelope me, I knew without a shadow of doubt the Lord was was right there with me. The remainder of the service and forward I have continued to feel his peace. I may not have seen him with my physical eyes, but I felt his arm around me and I heard him as clear as day, whisper to me that everything would be okay. It is my opinion this was a personal revelation of peace and comfort and there is no denying it. I get why the prophet Joseph Smith said what he said after his revelation “…l knew it, and I knew that God knew it and I could not deny it.”

I am truly thankful for the love in your heart for all of us striving to understand the gifts of scripture coupled with Latter-day revelation and Personal revelation. *The Old Testament has been a challenge in my life, not for its amazing stories and examples of faith, but for the brutality and harshness so rampant throughout. How can my Jesus be my Savior on the one hand, and so violent on the other? The customs of how women were treated are hard to hear also. Yet, when I read the JST of the Bible, I know it's true and I feel the Spirit profoundly. So this year, I look forward to studying with you so I can know and understand my Savior better. Thank you so much for your incredible sacrifice in teaching us 💕

Brother Halverson, thank you for making these videos for us! When I first found out about some controversy behind the papyri of Abraham, about the papyri not even talking about what was in Abraham or that the papyri were part of the book of the dead, and scholars, both of the church and against it agreeing, I honestly could not be shaken, I have read the Pearl of the Great Price a couple times and the Spirit I felt confirmed its truths. Just prior to that experience I had an amazing spiritual experience that Joseph Smith was indeed a Prophet of God, and that is my experience, and that experience cannot be faked. Thank you Brother Halverson for strengthening my faith, and thank you for helping me understand some of the things like polygamy and the martyrdom. God bless you and your family.

I got endowed and this was a good one to watch.... expectation without edification and education is key. I dont understand the temple ordinance of endowment. But the others make sense. I will learn as I continue to GO and grow. took me 5 yrs to be ready to get endowed after my baptism.

Thank you for explaining Abraham's account so plainly, it makes sense now that all Scriptures point to Jesus. Astronomical part is an objective lesson to introduce intangible doctrine of Spiritual world.

At about 1:45:50 you say something to the effect that "If I prayed with just as much intensity before I sin as I do after there would be a lot less sinning." I really like that!

Brother Jared…what a wonderful Christmas gift😇. I have never studied the Old Testament, but by following your guided teachings of it, I have no fear of what will be revealed to my understanding. After all, by seeking knowledge, and truth…with a broken heart and contrite spirit…through prayer and diligence…with the Holy Ghost, we may know the truth of all things. Since march of 2020…your lessons have been a light of this truth and understanding, which have helped my heart to heal. What greater knowledge could we seek, than the truth within the bosom of our Father in Heaven…by seeking the guiding hand of our Lord. I feel your love of this truth here, in my own home…I thank you for this dedicated faith, that you so clearly share. A great year ahead brother! Keep up the good work❤️😇. David

I am so excited. I love the Old Testament, all the stories with "type and shadows" all the Hebrew culture and all the symbolism. I can hardly wait to learn from you. I hope everyone will watch The Fires of Faith on KBYU. It is life affirming to see the sacrifices that were made to bring forth this book. I am so grateful for all that we learned last year and I am beyond excited to start down this new road. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I am looking for another great year of study & learning, here is my take on Moses 1:39. God's work is man's immortality which means Jesus did all of the heavy lifting. He created the earth, preformed the atonement, & the resurrection. God's glory is our eternal life which means the more of God's sons & daughters we can lead to Christ the greater is His glory, this has to be the greatest win-win in life!!!!!

Thank you for your diligence and enthusiasm with sharing your knowledge of the scriptures. It has helped me open my mind to recieve the enlightenment of the spirit that knowledge brings. As I learn more, I love the scriptures more and find true joy in them. It has changed the way I feel the Sabbath day and interact with my ward family. Most importantly to me, my wife and I feel the Spirit in a whole different way in our home because we have better discussions with each other and can help our families in better ways because we learn more each day. Thank you again.

I am so looking forward to studying the Old Testament with Brother Halverson. I have not felt this way before, but I realize that so much of the Old testament is meant for our day. Especially the last days. This is perfect timing to prepare us for the days we are living in and the days to come. Love you Brother Halverson

I am so grateful for the time you are taking from your own personal life to teach all of us. I started listening to you while we were studying the Book of Mormon. Previously for over 20 years I had been taking CES classes. In fact, I was in one when Covid hit and we were told we couldn’t meet any longer. I felt such a loss. Then I found you. You are among the noble and great ones that surfaced to help me along with my gospel study. So, so appreciative of you and your family’s sacrifice for me. May God bless you for what you do.

Same with me. For about 4 years, I had been taking a class every semester from the same awesome local teacher, Blair Van Dyke. When we got the news that BYU was discontinuing the program, our entire class was devastated. It left a giant hole in our gospel learning and hearts. What a blessing it was, eventually, when a friend said she had discovered Unshaken, and that Brother Halverson's teaching reminded her of Bro. Van Dyke's. I tried it out and have been hooked ever since.
