I experience missing time frequently. I start watching episodes of Unsolved Mysteries, and before I know it, 4 hours and several episodes are behind me.

What’s funny about watching these episodes, is that I’ve seen them so many times and I still watch over again lol I think it must be because it’s part of my childhood and it gives some comfort

I would lock every fucking door and window in my house after watching Unsolved Mysteries when I was a kid. And you know what? I loved every minute of it!

This show always had you convinced as a kid that the wanted criminal being profile on the case was right outside your window ready to climb in and kill you, even though the chances of that were almost zero. Probably the only show every made me make sure my doors were locked at night.

the update of Rogest Cain never being found made me really sad.

Ann set charlie up clearly and Gary helped her, but I believe it was Ann's idea.

The case of the two boys at the 🚆 track was a prime example of police incompetence. As a cop, wouldn't you be suspicious that two men just happen to die around the same time from an "accident" on a railroad track. Don't get me wrong, there are times that multiple people die accidentally at the same time, but you'd have to believe that both men got drunk at the same time and we're so inebriated that they both passed out on the tracks.

The voice of Robert Stack has been replayed in my head over and over again...since the early 90s. I’ve had dreams about him too talking to me and telling me things...no idea why

I remember this episode when it originally aired. Legit truth, I was so addicted but so terrified of this show growing up in the 80s, whenever it was over and I’d have to get ready for bed on school nights, I’d take my shower with the curtain opened, make sure the hallway and my bedroom lights were on, then I’d, with nothing to my back, run to my bed and shut the lights off ASAP 😂

I run across this show after year's of watching different things on KZfaq. I couldn't believe it. I love this show as a child. I don't necessarily remember the first show or first season. I just remember my parents seeing a new show coming on TV and deciding to watch it. And now here I am almost 50 and watching Unsolved Mysteries again and I love it. ☺️

Didn't test Charlie to see if he had been drinking. More inept police work. Maybe it's me, but if there is a dead man at a crime scene, a whole series of tests should be conducted on the deceased, to wit: blood alcohol level, the presence of drugs, legal or otherwise, try to determine when the victim last ate etc. Who knows? There might be some....well...CLUES to help solve the case.

I experienced lost time with my children. We were finishing a ride thru the Christmas light show which we go to just about EVERY YEAR even for me since a kid. We left the light show and suddenly got "lost". We ended up in an abandoned neighborhood of houses. We finally got my gps to work but it felt as if were lost for atleast 45 mins. We were only lost for 15. I didn't say anything not to spook them. My 2 boys, 6 and 8 said "how did we get lost? We were lost for a really long time." We still talk about it often.

Watching these episodes feels very bittersweet. The childhood memories but the sadness at how fast time has passed. I've heard they say the worst thing about getting old is remembering when you were young.

The missing time thing literally just happened to me a couple weeks ago. I live in a small apartment and had come into the kitchen sometime after 12:30 pm to start lunch (I remember looking at the time on my stove when I walked in). Opened the fridge and started taking some stuff out and putting them on the counter to prepare what I was going to cook. In the middle of doing this, I remember needing something that was in my bathroom or needing to go to the bathroom, so I turned around, left the refrigerator wide open and walked out of the kitchen. I don't remember anything that happened once I walked out of the kitchen. Next thing I know, I'm walking back into the kitchen, thinking no more than a couple minutes have passed. When come back to the refrigerator to continue getting out what I needed, the inside of the fridge was warm, almost hot. My first thought was it was broken, until I happened to glance at the time on my stove again. It was 4:56 pm. I have no idea what tf happened during that time or what on earth I could've possibly been doing. I thought I might've went to my bed and took a nap, especially being my cigarettes had not been touched the entire time (I'm a heavy smoker), but I had made my bed that morning and the sheets had not been disturbed. And I have no memory of ever getting in bed, or even waking up in bed. I never had that feeling like I had been to sleep or had just woke up. It was like the time simply went from 12:30 to 4:56 instead of 12:31. I keep asking myself what the hell was I doing all that time? If I wasn't in bed napping, which is the only logical thing I could think, what was I doing? Just standing there staring at a wall? Still a bit shaken about it. But there were no strange lights involved ... that I'm aware of.

This was a seminal episode for Unsolved Mysteries. I wrote a journal entry in school the day after it premiered. Bob's childhood experience in 1952. He couldn't have made it up.

Missing Time? I can connect with that. My whole life went by and I never had a chance to get past my bad luck. Raised in dreadful New Jersey with the worst people on earth. I led a diseased, criminaly victimized, poverty prone life without a shred of prosperity! Happiness never came my way and I'm 53 years old and STILL looking for a better tomorrow! Anybody else feel the same way?

Imagine being the sergeant or officer in this situation...you’re trying to find out why your soldier wasn’t where he was supposed to be...and he tells you he was abducted by a UFO...

If Robert Stack personally interviewed me I would probably not be able to speak....... that interview looked tense...

The story about Rogust reminds me of another man who disappeared. He had left his house to go to work, I remember correctly and vanished without a trace. His family suspected foul play and cops assumed he had just ran off. He had been missing for two years before he suddenly showed up at a fast food restaurant. Patrons there said he was confused and frightened so they called the police and he was taken to the hospital. There he revealed his name and that he suddenly “woke up” walking down the street. It took a bit but the police managed to put together what had happened to him during the time he went missing. He appeared in an entirely different state and said his name was something different than it was. He got a state ID, a new job, and an apartment. Had been living there for a while when he went for a walk and woke up. Many people thought he had faked it as well but as it turns out, it’s a real illness that is caused by a stroke or brain trauma. In this case, he had suffered a stroke that re-wired his brain and he forgot who he was, where he lived and everything. It’s possible he saw the name he chose somewhere. It was another stroke that “fixed” the problem. There was been documentation of occurrences like his story; forgetting one’s entire life, picking up a new skill or hobby, a new language, there was even documentation of a man who couldn’t speak at all unless he was playing the piano. He had been an avid pianist before his stroke and after he lost the ability to speak. As long as he’s playing a piano he can hold decent conversations.

When I was a kid watching UM when it first aired, I was only ever really interested in the ghost, UFO and supernatural segments. Now I'm the complete opposite. Those segments are fine, but I'm usually sitting here like, Person in the show: "I know it was a [ghost/UFO/magic rock/etc]." Me (skeptical): "No, it probably wasn't. The truth is out there, but it's often rather mundane." Instead, I'm very curious now to learn more about the real-life (Wanted/Missing...) cases and whether the people involved were found in the last 30 years. I like that these posted episodes include fairly recent updates. UM really did make a difference in a lot of these cases. That was the power of TV.

It's interesting to go back and listen to alien abductees from 30-40 years ago..."there were dials everywhere." Yep, technology of the 80s was everywhere on a spaceship. I don't think these people are lying, but I think this lends heavy credence to dreaming or hallucinating.

I wonder if Bob Matthews was actually abused by a relative, but created the alien story subconsciously as a way to protect himself from the truth since he would have been very traumatized

I think someone was taking advantage of Rogest for cheap labor. He was probably confused about who he was and this person used him. I think he got wind of the tip/lead and took Rogest away so he couldn’t be located

Missing time aka when you've got no good excuses!

The self defence argument is so implausible, it was a classic case of a love triangle with 2 people wanting to get rid of the third wheel. That police officer was dumb as hell and should have done more to pursue all leads. He's now likely retired and has a woman on the run for 30+ years on his record and it will live with him forever

I sometimes wonder if I've experienced missing time - I remember in high school the teacher handed back quizzes that she had marked... I didn't get one back and I didn't recognize the quiz. I asked when did we do this quiz, and she said just two days ago. I thought hard but couldn't remember missing any days or classes or being so late that I'd miss the quiz... but I also couldn't remember the specifics of that day. When I asked if anyone remembers if I was there that day or what I was doing, nobody really listened to my concerns but it really bothered me. There's probably a logical explanation but always wondered how it was possible that I didn't notice I missed the class, because I was very studious.

Garey had seen the broadcast and surrendered himself to authorities in May of 1989. He told police that he broke up with Ann shortly before the broadcast, and that she threatened to put satanic curses on him should he cooperate with police. However, a combination of a guilty conscience and fear of his exposure on the broadcast were a stronger motivator for him to surrender. In January of 1991, he entered an Alford Plea for second-degree murder. He was sentenced to twenty years in prison and was paroled in 2002. Ann has yet to be apprehended. While in prison, Garey publicly begged her to turn herself into the authorities, but she never did. She has been a fugitive for more than thirty years and would be in her 50s today. She is believed to be living in either Arizona or Oregon. She is also believed to be taking advantage of her physical features to falsely identify herself as an American Indian and feign acculturation with Indian nations. As such, tribal police have also been alerted that she may be a danger to their areas.

This show is creepy as hell in DAYTIME... Just saying. One of my favorite shows of all time.

So glad to see UM back on You Tube. My only gripe , and it is very minor, is the beginning announcer, the whole what you are about to see ..., isn't the original guy. I recall him having a pretty ominous voice that added to the whole vibe.

The first story, the cop sounded and looked so stupid saying that guy who killed the woman's husband, WAS INNOCENT of murder. He was so dumb.

The missing Time episode is Grand. I was always amazed how such an extraordinary event can take place in such an ordinary environment. The gentleman from Philadelphia always impressed me with his sincerity.

The Soldier’s voice is AWESOME.

Cain family story made me so sad, my dad has that same drive to work and ignores physical symptoms.

They've actually been able to recreate the experience of missing time/alien abduction/encounter experiences in a lab by subjecting people to various magnetic fields. It's possible some people are more sensitive to these fields, which explains why "victims" often claim to have had more than one experience.
