The Etta Smith story made me so mad, but it was 1980 and a different time. I checked and was glad to find that she sued the police. It wasn’t settled until 1986, but she was awarded $1,184 in lost wages and 25k for suffering. I’m sure the lawyer took most of it, but at least she got something.

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party. I agree with you in theory and certainly think that it could have been handled better. However, I can't blame them for doubting her or suspecting her. The police are trained to go by evidence and facts. I'm the kind of person who believes in what they can see as well. None of you are going to convince me that if someone came to you with extremely accurate information about a murder victim, you wouldn't be the slightest bit suspicious. And it came to her in a dream? Come on. You would not immediately believe her.

@@michelleprieur1 Nope sorry, not buying that in anyway shape or form. A young woman having a vision about a murder with accurate detail is still easier to believe then a young woman beating up another woman knocking her out, raping her killing her and dragging her corpse into the woods. That's more BS then her story, plus, it doesn't have to have anything to do with being psychic, could be the woman's spirit was reaching out to her. Strange yes but not unheard of.

It's the popular John Edward psychic scam. They just use very basic "fortune teller" psychological tricks and fish for information. They target people with dead relatives because they're easy to manipulate as they tend to be overly emotional and rightly so. The couple in the beginning even says how emotional they were over their son. The most amazing part though is people still fall for this crap in the current days and age.

He was only 38 and thought it was just a bad headache and that he'd take an aspirin and lay down, but I just knew he was having a stroke and insisted that he go to the hospital and get a CAT scan. 3 days later he had a golf ball-sized blood clot removed from his brain!

Yes, I do not have much faith in doctors. I avoid them. Either they are half listening to you, or do not listen at all. They jump to incorrect conclusions. In my long life, I personally have trusted only two doctors, Dr. Stuart Orsher, NYC, and Dr. Jane Galasso, now retired. I went to a chiropractor here in Vegas after injuring the back of my knee while using the rowing machine. He concluded, "You need to drink more water." That could have been true about many of us, but why didn't he address the injury issue? He chose to ignore it. Some doctors are just lazy, and others are simply unknowledgeable.

Inkyguy. I am glad that this lady, Etta Smith, sued the police department. They deserved it after what she went through. That interrogation was outrageous, and Etta should have gotten up and left immediately or ask for an attorney. I am surprised she didn’t. But, anyway, it is good to know she filed a lawsuit against this police department. They deserved everything bad coming to them. I was speechless after watching this case, couldn’t believe these detectives. Shame on them and shame on this police department. I hope that today, they have “cleaned up their act” and some other kind of “detectives” are in charge in interrogating innocent people. A really disgraceful police department, they should all be ashamed of themselves. Makes me puke 🤮

Super strange to watch the beginning of this episode and know it’s in part about my Mom, Judy. My Dad saw this episode back when it aired and said it was misleading, but I haven’t seen it until recently. Lots of gaps in the telling of my mom’s last days and strange that my Mom would be a big part of this episode. I guess because the story is more about Jeanine and she felt she could use my Mom as proof?! There were a lot of indications throughout my Mom’s life that she had something seriously going on. Years upon years of migraines. My Mom’s side of the family never took any of Jeanine’s claims seriously. I didn’t meet her until I was around 10 and, frankly, she weirded me out. The doctor’s did run scans but didn’t find the aneurysm and sent her home. She died a couple days later. Later the courts found the hospital negligent in not seeing the aneurysm on her scans. So there you have the full story about my Mom’s death, in a nutshell.

Jeanine's story was like a Greek tragedy. There's a premonition and someone ends up either getting hurt or dying. And like some Greek tragedies, certain events could've been prevented. Instead of arguing with her sister's doctor, she could've told him that there was a history of brain issues (i.e. strokes, aneurisms) in her family. At least, that might've been encouraged him to do a MRI.

Van Praagh. The only thing he's sensitive to is lactose. Otherwise he's making a living asking questions, then turning immediately around and giving people their own answers to his questions as if he was seeing them in his mind's eye. Let's see what happens when he is denied the ability to ask his ridiculous questions and provide answers on his own without any assistance from his victims. As in no more "did you have a son?" Duh, that's a question designed to cast a wide net, one highly likely to produce an affirmative response. His questions regarding passing over to solicit the cause of the death. He starts with the most common cause at a young age, accidental deaths, then keeps asking until getting to the specific. They tell him everything rather than the other way around.

You probably would insist on seeing another doctor if you KNEW your sister had an oncoming brain aneurysm, but there's no evidence for ANY of her claims. She's just claiming (without evidence) AFTER the fact, that she KNEW it was a brain aneurysm BEFORE the fact. We've only her story and her slightly dopey brother's confirmation, "Duh, yah! Dat's what she said all right. Yup". Well, we're now in the 'future' in relation to when the show was filmed, so it would have been much more incredible if she had used her interview to make a claim BEFORE the fact that we could now verify. But, NOPE!

I never know whether to believe these things or not. When I'm annoyed/angry/upset/in pain my bank card NEVER works - unless my son uses it. The pharmacy knows this, and they joke about it, but it's not just the pharmacy, it's everywhere. Battery watches really don't work on me (though my Garmin worked - it just didn't last as long as it was supposed to - but that could be a fluke). Only once in my life did I have a 'premonition' that came true, but again I question it - I was a little kid, and dreamt that my Grandfather called me down the hall to his room, and told me he had died. We had a conversation. When my mom came in the next morning, she sat down and told my sister and I she wanted to talk to us for a minute. I blurted out, 'I know, Nonno died.' She was furious. Oh, and my pièce de resistance - my third son never slept - if I was lucky, it would be for 7 hours every 3-4 days. Otherwise he screamed non-stop. When I went back to work, I managed to fry my two desktops in the same day. The next day I got a loaner laptop and fried that too. Then the printer stopped working, and they replaced it with a new one - the new one stopped working too. My ex wouldn't let me anywhere near the computer if I was upset lol! But, again, I'm still not convinced there's any special to all this. Maybe some of us do just carry around more static or something!

Watching Van Praagh I believe Michael Shermer is correct. I think Van Praagh is very perceptive and intuitive, but he is not really telling you anything he knows of the deceased subject, he’s essentially telling you the things you are telling him. I think our inherent but often hidden wish for an afterlife and a connection with hose whom we’ve lost causes us to grant him and similar mentalists/mediums a subconscious benefit of the doubt, and we and he focus on the hits rather than the many misses. I’m not denying or refuting each and every paranormal or spiritual experience that people have genuinely reported, but I don’t believe I’m really witnessing anything beyond intuition and a deep desire to believe on the part of all of the parties involved.

When I was 14, I started having seizures for no reason, just started having them. My hands would suddenly become numb, and I would get this weird burnt toast taste in my mouth and then pass out. My parents were very worried, they thought, epilepsy? Took me to St Francis hospital in Peoria, Illinois where the Dr's ran a bunch of tests. They could not find a cause, but did note that there was 'Unusual electrical activity detected' during my EEG. The Dr. said my Alpha waves were elevated or something.I was sleeping during this test, and had electrodes stuck to my head. The Dr prescribed me Phenobarbitol to prevent the seizures, but all it did was make me sleep 18 hrs a day. I was so scared something bad was wrong with me but It stopped happening when I got about 18. After moving in with my boyfriend at 19, and becoming pregnant, weird electrical stuff started happening around me. It was a stressful time, and when I'd be feeling particularly sad, mad, or stressed out,and touch a light switch,POP! It was a weird, surging feeling coming from the pit of my stomach, and then there'd be the zap. After I had my daughter, it eased up. Soon,I was a 25 yr old with 3 kids, a daughter and two sons. When my youngest son was 3 months old, their Dad took off on us and left me to raise three kids by myself.I was visiting my parents with my kids on the weekend, and when I came back home, all my things were gone(sold) including my baby's crib and dresser. It's pretty low when you sell your new baby's crib and dresser to get money to take off on your children and wife. The electrical thing started back up. I was zapping lights, radios, the tv,you name it. I think it was because I was very angry at being abandoned. Like an abundant amount of static electricity, but the zapping happened Summer Winter Spring Fall. This eased up after a couple of years(Thank God), but a new thing started happening. I started having dreams/nightmares and the next day or two, they would come true.I dreamt about 9/11 the night before it happened. Dreamt a'bird' flew into a building and the building caught fire. I was standing on the sidewalk and a paper floated down in front of me with charred edges, but it had the words CALL 9/11 written on it.The morning of 9/11 I got my kids off to school and went to lay down on the couch for a nice quiet nap since I didn't get much sleep the night before. Everytime I laid my head down on the pillow I heard screams. It was horrifying. They sounded far off,but many people screaming at the same time. It made me feel sick to my stomach so I got up,and the phone rang. It was my Mom,crying, and telling me to turn on the tv. I've had other unexplainable things like this happen, like a nightmare that a dear friend of mine from work got t-boned by a big suv and lost her life. It happened the next day. I had begged her the night before not to take her son in law to work that next day,I had an awful nightmare about an accident. She said "Oh it'll be ok Tam, don't worry I'll be careful". I never saw her alive again. That broke my heart,as she was one of the nicest ladies I worked with and we were friends. I believe that there are such a thing as psychic powers, esp, psychokinesis etc. but I don't think you can just snap your fingers or turn it on like a light switch. I dont think of it as a gift (at least for me it isnt) and I do not use it for monetary gain. This Praagh guy does seem to be very sketch to me.

He couldn't have known diddly about my situation because there was little to no coverage of my tragedy. I put out plenty of mental images into the room as a test. He picked up on specific things I was "sending" but tried to attribute them to someone else. I was super cautious about telling him things directly. I was being crafty. In the first story, I am speechless about that doctor who never did an X-ray of the brain to find out if the headaches that this young lady was experiencing were because of something more than just a simple “headache!” Wow! Unbelievable. Too bad that she died. Scientists as well as law enforcement officials, or anyone else’s for that matter has to get pass the “physical aspects” of everything that happens in life and start looking “beyond the physical” to understand that “things” happens in this life and there are situations that can’t be explained and which are not necessarily from this “material world.” And in the case of Jeanine half sisters, it was COMMON SENSE from this “doctor” to have performed an X-ray of her brain to make sure there was not a serious problem going on. I wouldn’t go to a doctor like that, no way! Also, the arrogance of the doctor to asked her “who knows better? You or a doctor? Are you a doctor?” That by itself was appalling. Doctors, all of them, suffer from “God’s Complex,” they think they are God in person when they are not and can make mistakes! I have had my share of arguments with doctors when they think they know what is going on inside my body, when I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS MY BODY, and not them. It is MY BODY, and I will be damned if I am going to allow any doctor to treat me like a second class citizen or worse, disrespect me treating me like a dumb person. Hell NO. I am very vocal and get very vocal to let them know what I want and if I agreed or disagree with them; and I will walk out of any doctor’s office as fast as the speed of light IF I know I am not treated with respect. This “doctor” should have been at least FINED for negligence for not following through! Or stripped from his medical license in my opinion, and I would have sued the hell out of him! Jeanine’s half sister should have walked out of that hospital and go somewhere else! Very tragic and sad.

These people crack me up. I would walk in and sit down and say okay. Tell me about it and if they ask and say did you have a loved one pass over? I would say yeah who hasnt? Why don't you tell me about somebody? Did your dad pass away? You tell me you're the psychic...

Shes a clairvoyant not a telepath. Clairvoyants pick up on knowledge they shouldn't know, Telepaths read other minds.

The mustache dude said stuff that anyone could've guessed, like that there were a bunch of pictures of the son doing different things at his funeral (like at every funeral) and that after BEING TOLD that he died in an mountain climbing accident saying that there was a picture of him at the base of the mountain (duh).

I quit watching television in 1968 but over the years if I happened to be going by the family TV and saw it on, I'd stop and watch. Amazing how they solved crimes. My mother's friend in Florida she helped the F B I with her psychic abilities and was so good at it they came to her many times. She told me she just uses what we all have within us that most never find. All I could do since fifth grade (1965) was without moving a muscle I can cause in my spinal cord and out the major nerve branches of my arms and legs an electrical feeling kind of pain that I can vary to a quite painful level. Several years ago I saw a documentary on YT about psychic abilities and emailed the Institute of Noetic Sciences in California about it. The person who received my email just said to see a counselor ha! Does anyone know what that phenomenon is?

@@jenreed5007 , Yeah you don't need to have dream visions just offer to help and if you get lucky and get a few correct things right the police get supicious and assume you had something to do with the murder and you get locked up...........and you end up not trusting the police again....... the ironic thing is they beg for infomation from the public and to call if you know anything. if you have info that might help solve the case it works against you, you ended up being locked up.
