Solved. In June of 2002, shortly after the story was completed, authorities received a major break in the case. A tipster contacted police, claiming that Janice's coworker, twenty-five-year-old Angela M. Mize, had information about the murder. When questioned by police, Angela claimed that her husband, eighteen-year-old Eric D. Mize, had killed Janice and Alyssa. She initially claimed that she only witnessed the crime; however, she eventually admitted her involvement in the crime. They were both arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. When authorities searched their home, they found items that belonged to Alyssa, including a button missing from her dress and the buckles from her shoes. Authorities now believe that they were the couple seen at the Owen home. Shockingly, they admitted that they killed Alyssa for sexual gratification and then Janice because she was a witness to the crime. Both pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and were sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. These are some evil sick people , poor mom and daughter :(

Larry Jones, the school bus driver was an angel on earth. He blamed himself for years for what happened to Alyssa, but TBH there was nothing he could have done. But he tried to take care of every single soul he drive on his bus. That's why his voice break in the segment. Same reason why his interview is cut short. He really felt bad for everything that happened that fateful afternoon.

It amazes me how often that happens. Several times now when I've watched crime documentaries (Cold Justice, etc) there's mention of the fact that neighbours, for example, heard or saw something very unusual and worrying but did nothing about it. If I heard blood curdling screams at night, say, I sure as hell would call the police to report it. Some people are so phlegmatic and indifferent though. 😠

In case anyone was wondering how Angela and Eric Mize were eventually focused on as suspects, a tipster called the police telling them that Angela may have had information about the murders. The police were interested because she was a co-worker of Janice’s. When questioned, Angela admitted she was present when Janice and Alyssa were killed, but said her husband Eric committed the murders. She eventually confessed to being involved in the murders. The really sick part: the motive was sexual gratification towards Alyssa, and Janice was murdered because she witnessed what happened. The two pled guilty on October 8, 2002. The Prosecutor warned that if they didn’t plead guilty by that day, that he would seek the death penalty against them both. They are very lucky they took the life sentences: a jury or judge would’ve probably been all too eager to sentence them to death for what they did.

The way the mother talks about her daughter “she would believe someone could need her and want her...” leads me to believe she is the reason she had low self esteem.

EXACTLY! her mother was probably part of the reason she felt so unlovable, why did her mother think she couldn't find a healthy relationship??
@lisamarieligreci-newton7804 Жыл бұрын
Right? The way her mom was just telling national TV about how she was made fun of and stuff - I mean, I get in some ways it is relevant, but if I had been Tricia I don't think I would have WANTED to be found at that point. You could have just said that she was struggling to find her place, etc.
@TheEndOfTheMoon10 ай бұрын
Ya'll are just being snowflakes, she could of had the best mother in the world and it stil wouldn't have stopped her daughter feeling that way, her mother was just telling us how she thinks her daughter felt which is how most outcast teenagers feel, so you can't assume her mother was to blame for her self esteem, she was unpopular and overweight so really no amount of love from her mother would have took the feeling of wanting to be loved away.
