During the college football game between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, Texas Tech was called for a rare penalty when the refs called unsportsmanlike conduct... on the fans. The penalty came as a result of a fan throwing a water bottle on the field after a play. Texas Tech had to back 15 yards because of the actions of one of their fans. Oklahoma State went on to defeat Texas Tech 23-0.

@@m00t53 it doesn’t matter if that’s what happened here or not. That’s the inevitable outcome of penalizing fans. Fans, students, alumni, etc aren’t vetted to make sure they’re wearing the jersey of their own team. What’s to stop me, as an OSU Buckeye, from buying a front row ticket to next year’s game at PSU, wearing white, and throwing something on the field during a critical situation late in the 4th quarter? Yeah I’ll get kicked out, but the damage is done. I wasn’t there to actually watch the game, I was there to cheat on my team’s behalf when they needed it most, and I succeeded in changing the game’s outcome. You could go to road games for your team with a drone 1600ft above the stadium dropping a beer bottle during crucial moments. Or you could visit games where you placed big bets and do this. Nobody would be able to see a little drone with an empty beer bottle that high up and you could do it from a couple miles away. Refs would only see a beer bottle hitting the field and not where it came from. Seems like this could be exploited fairly easily.

@@bramcc32 I mean, the bottles used to be glass until the 90s I think, then a ref almost died because a crowd of angry Browns fans didn't like a call. So yeah. This reminds me of something crazy I saw once. During a soccer/football match in Iran (I think), someone threw trash onto the field, and one of the players tossed it off to the side, but it was a live hand grenade!!! If the player who tossed it aside had held onto it for a few seconds longer, he’d have been minus a hand!!!

If that's a thing then why was there not a single penalty given to Tennessee when they through a ton of shit on the field including hitting the Ole Miss coach with a golf ball and forcing the game to be shut down for 20 full minutes? No unsportsmanlike penalty. Not even a delay of game penalty! And in the TN game, unlike the TX Tech game, there was NO doubt who was throwing the shit!
