I love how you left out that Mexico invaded the republic of Texas 3 times in the 9 years of being it's own country. That's what made them go bankrupt. Also all the anglos that settled in Texas were Mexican citizens and half of the revolt included tejonos fighting against Santana. Also Mexico rebelled against Santana for two years before the Texas revolution started.

Have you thought about doing a vid about Canada's provinces? We are having a near crisis of Confederacy right now between BC and Alberta and it seems to only be heating up with our PM and federal leader of the NDP (the two parties in charge of each province) also taking a major hands off approach. We rarely get noticed by folks but be super fun to see your animation style go over it :)

Texas and California both share the same indomitable spirit of the Wild West- rugged individuality, freedom, and a totally unique style. Somebody can look, act, and dress 'Californian'. and somebody can look, dress, and act 'Texan'. Both states have their own paradigms and identities, various distinct geographical, cultural, and economic regions, and an enormous amount of territory and population. Essentially, while still being mostly American at heart, California and Texas are their own nations.

diego contreras Slavery was actually one of the smallest factors of the Texan Revolution. The bigger ones included their exorbitant tax rates and the denial of equal rights compared to what the Mexican government defined as “true” Mexican citizens. Secession was a net benefit for everyone living in Texas at the time.
@antoniasalinas5133 жыл бұрын
@@texantucker ...no, slavery played a larger role than you think. While not the largest factor, you can't deny that the right to own slaves was a key part of the Texan Constitution, since that clause (along with Mexico still claiming Texas) prevented Texas from joining the United States for nearly ten years. Most Texan schools don't teach kids this, and only that Mexicans were being jerks. Which admittedly they were, but the American settlers weren't so squeaky clean either.
@wallstreetotaku7503 жыл бұрын
@@texantucker early American Texans were allowed to live in the region and over time outnumbered the tejanos. More and more Americans settlers came over but when the Mexican govt tried to ban Anglo immigration, they got pissed. I would even say that a good chunk Texans are descendants of illegals (oh the irony). Also the ban on slavery in 1830 by Mexico clashed with the Americans desire to preserve chattel slavery so while not it wasn’t the sole factor for revolution it was important one. Also when you tend to outnumber the native population you feel like you own the place so another part it was the cultural differences and just the lack of respect they had for the Mexican govt. like any country or nation, it’s history is not black and white. The Texan revolution was not the Texans standing up for the Mexican govt for moral and just reasons anyone can see that with a little studying. However, Texan individuality today is great but lets remember history through unbiased lens.

It's incredible how in the US, the states interact with each other almost as if they were diferent countries. I'm from Argentina (wich is supposed to be a federal republic) but practicly nobody cares about the governors of the provices or they respective laws, everyone just cares about the central goverment. I think this happens because the capital city of Buenos Aires and it's metropolitan area has about one third of the total population.
@isaiahgrey24583 жыл бұрын
Yep! Honestly it used to be far more impressive than this too...the federal government has grown very large since the days of FDR. A lot of people complain American isn't a true 'democracy'...because they're right. The states are supposed to have a lot of independence.

Alejandro Flores I've got a hatred for any state that wants to give illegal immigrants the ability to vote. That want to change the age of consent to 12, that want to make it so if you touch the dirt within the borders of that state you're immediately an American citizen, they require regular water assistance as well as additional support from other states to combat wildfires landslides earthquakes etc and yet have the gaul to even think about breaking from the union. And to top it all off, liberal leftist elites either like live in or are from generally the SRC. And they decided to put broccoli on pizza for christ sake! So yes, I do have a weird grudge against the Socialist Republic of Commiefornia.
@AlejandroFlores-vi8tl6 жыл бұрын
Zachary Marshall ok you have been misinformed about this state. No Californian wants to lower the age of consent or leave the union.
