I have lived in Qro over the last six years for work. I love this place. People, Culture and Food. It is incredible. Moving away from Toronto was tough but I made the right decision. Good luck in discovering this beautiful country.

My wife and I just moved to QRO from Austin and we love it here! We spent a little time in SMA and decided that it wasn’t for us. We got our temporary residency and the amount varies by consulate. Best of luck to you!

Hey Jason! Congrats on your temporary residency. I’ll be starting my process in a couple of months. Yeah SMA is a place I’d go to for a couple days max. Maybe to shop or go to one of the spas. Living there doesn’t seem very exciting. It’s beautiful though!

@EbisPoppin Queretaro is an area that's on the Govt watch list. Do you ever feel like it's unsafe to be there while out and about? Especially if you're alone. I've heard other races say it safe. I just want to get your take on it.
@Ebthehousesitter
@Ebthehousesitter 8 ай бұрын
@veganista5096 Oh no I NEVER felt unsafe. I feel more unsafe in cities in California. People were extremely friendly and helpful. I would walk to the Oxo (convenience store like 7-Eleven) at night and there’d be women/husbands & wives out on evening strolls after dinner with their babies or small children. Queretaro is a smaller city and people really just work and mind their business. CDMX was larger and I never felt unsafe there either. We’d walk the dog we were sitting at 9-10pm at night and felt safe enough to do it. No one ever bothered us.

@veganista5096 honestly the government should be on a government watch list.

A new subscriber🥰.Oh my gosh! This is such an awesome video Sis. Thanks for showing & sharing your experience. I was in Playa del Carmen and Merida this year. But Queretaro is absolutely on my list now as well as Mexico City! Mexico is one of my favorite places to visit. I'm also in Austin Texas ( a new resident) and HEB is a few blocks away! 😉 My DNA says I am 2% Mexican lol 😂.. Planning my "Soft Life." xoxo Peace, Blissings, and Empowerment

This vid made me more excited about retiring there. I wondered if you were fluent in Spanish and how much Spanish you used and also how easy is it to make new friends there? I’m not sure if you’re single but could you see yourself finding a partner or dating there? Finally, how much did you need to rely on an Uber as opposed to public transit, which I’m guessing is mostly buses?
@Ebthehousesitter
@Ebthehousesitter Жыл бұрын
Hey Natalie! Congrats on making the decision to leave the US once you retire. ☺️I am not even close to being fluent. I am still learning. I use basic Spanish. Very basic. My problem is I need to adopt a Mexican accent because they sometimes don’t understand if I am using an english one. 😆 As far as friends- it was actually super easy to make friends. I joined lots of groups for (women) expats and actually met a few women in person. Also posting to social media has helped me to connect with women who are here as well because I usually hashtag my pics and videos. As far as dating- yes! I personally know ladies who are dating or engaged to Mexican men. There’s definitely not a shortage of men and I have no problem with men being interested. I haven’t really used public transportation (buses). I either use Uber or I walk. I did catch the ADO bus from Mexico city which wasn’t too difficult. I probably wont get on the city bus because I dont like the packed like sardines feel. Hope this helps!

@@Ebthehousesitter Thanks. This is really helpful. I'm really excited, looking at real estate every week. I wonder if I can ask you about safety? I'm now wondering what you think about the recent news--the number of Mexican families desperately trying to leave Mexico, some Americans being killed by cartels one of the two Latina women who just disappeared after traveling to MX? Is it a matter of location? Do you feel safe there? Do you feel safe traveling in and out of Queretaro? Is the US just making this out to be a larger problem than it actually is?
@Ebthehousesitter

Sorry I didn’t get a notification for your message. Honestly, there’s crime everywhere. I can say this- I haven’t had any interaction with the police here that made me question whether they’d try to harm or unalive me. Actually each encounter they’ve been helpful. As per usual, US media sells propaganda. I am probably more unsafe in Chicago, LA or New York. I travel in and out of Queretaro and haven’t had any issues. Its really safe here. I walk to the store at night and there are usually families out walking dogs or coming from a restaurant.

Thank you 💛 My airbnb was in Alamos and I moved to Jardines de la Hacienda. Cute neighborhood pretty central to a lot of cafes, stores, etc. A lot of Expats here will solely recommend Expat areas but I chose to live where the locals are. Let me know if you have any other questions.
