VelociPastor is an amazing bad movie. $34k budget, and an Airsoft Vietnam flashback. After his parents tragically get in a car bomb and turned into a VFX note, a humble pastor travels to the United States of China to find himself. He gains the ability to turn into a velociraptor and uses his powers to fight crime and Ninjas

I recall Hbomb's analysis of The Room, that it shows how a person can be distorted in your mind through breakup-coloured glasses. Like there's probably a real Lisa from Tommy Wiseau's life, who likely had normal human reasons for ending things, but in Tommy's mind, and the film, she just thinks it's fun to ruin his life for no reason. It's a lesson that I've carried into my breakups. I refuse to see my exes as evil people who just want to hurt me.

The reason I don't like watching new things without reference is that I get upset too easily. It's a reason I stopped watching late night television 10 years ago, because out-of-the-blue trauma scenes tend to stick with me for weeks. So, that's the worst that can happen to me when watching any unknown movie. I rely on commentary channels such as yours to guide me to new stories I can watch.

Mystery Men is one of my favorite movies and I always take objection to people referring to it as "Bad". Despite not being a faithful adaptation of the original comic, it is still an extremely fun satirical super hero romp, all about the B/C list heroes actually bumbling their way into saving the day. Absolute classic that everyone should watch. Especially if you want a great laugh.

FWIW, in the US, "Row, Row Row your boat" as often sung as a "round" exactly like in the movie. The singers are divided into up to three groups with each group starting one line behind the other. I can't explain WHY, but that's how it's done.

Troll 2: 1) The dad's not singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" "out of synch"; that's how the song is supposed to be sung. [It's a "round", where singers after the first are supposed to sing basically a different verse.] 2) None of the movies in the series are even in the same universe; it was just a marketing thing.

I feel that the Silent Hill movies can only be judged among its peers of the time. As a movie take on a computer game, it was really very good. It didn’t screw around with the source material. And for its budget, I’d argue punched above its weight. Given watching a movie is inherently different to playing a game, it did more than alright. Especially compare to its immediate contemporaneous peers. Most importantly? I’d say it’s internally consistent in tone and presentation. I think I’d argue further that had it not been a translation of computer game, it may well have a better reputation as a genuinely creepy film.
@SomeRandomJackAss
@SomeRandomJackAss 11 ай бұрын
The first one, sure. The second one needs to be seen to be believed, especially as what not to do. It tried to move the plot closer to the games, but the original established it's own ideas and separate universe so much so that they spent most of the second movie retconning just about everything. It was also a 3D movie and boy does it show. I do love hearing people online talk about them, though, because it's hilarious to hear "oh, the CG sucked." Almost everything in the movie was practical effects aside from touch-ups, the bugs, the dimensional transitions, and the fog.

Another movie I just remembered was Space Truckers. The seen I remember the most from when I saw it as a kid (probably shouldn't have considering) was where the beautiful lady of the group distracts the bad guy, who is a cyborg, and he shows her all of his self "improvements". Lets just say while she's staring at his croch, power tool noises and lights are going off...

Glenn Danzig's Verotika. It's nearly unwatchable, but it's also a step by step guide of how NOT to make a movie. From acting, to dialouge, to costumes, to special effects, to editing and directing, everything about this movie is done wrong. It should be shown in film schools as a warning.

I think that we've seen so many examples of bad anime and video game adaptations, however the argument can be made that they tried to hold true to the source material in the some of the most significant ways. Which is why I think the Super Mario Bros. movie from the 90's is amazing. It shows that an insane departure from the source material is just the absolute worst way to adapt a beloved franchise and the film is just hilarious to me from start to finish.

Avatar 2 is a great example at just how good things can look when you do a skillful combination of practical effects and CGI. I've always said this, and I think there's a content creator somewhere that actually made a graph, where a great movie is memorable, a bad movie is memorable, but between the two a movie will get increasingly forgettable as it approached being just mid. So you really need to make something really good or really bad so it can be a cult classic.

I know that, jelloapoclypse has a rating system like that when he does his movie reviews A move falls on a scale of 1-10, but it can be positive or negative. so like a 10 is a classic, like a near perfect movie, and a negative 10 is like a complete failure of a movie, but entertainingly so. So like the room would be in the negatives, yeah its a bad movie, but it's enjoyably, bad while on the other side you have something like the first back to the future movie, that nearly everyone loves in the postives.

My aunt gave me the movie "Transylvania Twist" years ago which has another story, but the movie is a 1980's parody of horror with a lot of bad puns and cheesy dialogue, but I love it because it was purposely overdone. Another one was the movie "Gandahar". A 1987 animated movie about a menace from 1000 in the future coming back to destroy the world. I cannot properly describe the movie, but it's very weird, very good/bad, and has Teller doing voice acting...

I really wish I could remember the film it was in but it was a really cheap 80s/90s era horror and at one point the camera was entering a shed because the characters where about to find a dead friend and the camera man clearly tripped as the shot just shook and darted forward slightly but they'd just left it in for one reason or another.

I will recommend a movie called Satan's Little Helper. It is a slasher movie that basically fails at every level of technical execution - except one thing. The killer, who never speaks, and is never seen unmasked, manages to deliver an incredible performance essentially through the horror movie equivalent of mime.

My favorite bad movie is Street Fighter. Commercially it did pretty good but it was hated by critics, 11% on rotten tomatoes. It was Raul Julia’s final film, and he acts his butt off as Bison because his kids wanted him to. Jean Claude Van-Damme is attempting an American accent very poorly while playing all-American hero Guile because Capcom wanted him to. After that the whole casting budget had been spent and the rest of the cast is relative unknowns, except Ming-na Wen who went on to voice Mulan. The plot very loosely follows Street Fighter 2, but it is filled with strange delivery, mostly from Guile, and weird shots like a woman running through a crowd holding a single shoe and Honda kind of looking like he is enjoying being tortured by Bison. The best part of the movie though is Bison talking to Chun-li. She’s all pissed about him killing her dad and destroying her village and cold-blooded Raul Julia says “The day M. Bison graced your village was the most important day of you’re life. But for me it was Tuesday.” And I think about that a lot.

So the guy singing "out of time" with the other two isn't. That's how you're supposed to do it 😉. It's called singing in a round (or according to Wikipedia "Infinite Cannon" 😂) and you're supposed to come in after the first line has been sung by someone else. I know i'm familiar with people doing this with "row your boat" but I'm sure there are other songs which are traditionally sung in a round. Tmyk 🌈✨

Not a film, but Devil May Cry 2 fascinates me. The first DMC game I played was 4, and I loved it, so I bought the rest of the DMC games, and started from 1, and went onward in release order. DMC2 was such a disappointment. Either super easy, or frustrating, but not in a way that makes you think "what can I do different to beat this area/boss", but just in the "well, this is bs, and now I have to start over. They threw so much of what made DMC1 good, out of the window, so all you have is a husk of it. Dante is dark and gritty instead of having a chip on his shoulder, but still being able to take things seriously when he has to. Lucia could have been interesting, but too little time was given to her, and her story of learning to accept herself as who she is. At times I think to myself "Was DMC2 really that bad?" and try it again. I am often bored within 15 minutes of launching it. The miracle that was the hype for a DMC sequel is what made sure the series didn't just end there, which would truly would have been a tragedy.

I love the old early 2000’s Dungeons and Dragons movie. The visual effects are laughably bad. The dialogue and line delivery’s are hilarious. The lead villain played by Jeremy Irons hams it up so much while his Liutenant who serves as a more personal antagonist to the main hero is hilariously underacted. And what makes it even funnier to me is that like a year or two later, the same company produced Lord of the Rings. Amazing how in such short succession they produced one of the worst big budget fantasy films and three of the best.

Cats stands out to me as a good bad movie for two reasons: 1. Character design in the movie is awful. It sits right in the middle of the uncanny valley and would maybe be better served as a fully animated film. Have the characters go in a Puss in Boots direction of anthropomorphic cats that can move like people but still look like they’re definitely cats. 2. Tom Hooper doesn’t understand the point of musicals. Tom Hooper directed Cats and Les Miserables and did the same thing in both were he choose to star actors who can’t sing or singers who can’t act. He also tried to make the songs “more realistic” by actively ruining the quality of the singing. Not giving performers ways to keep on time, stressing their voices to the breaking point, having them talk or talk-sing their lyrics, and more. Both of those points are great examples of what not to do, especially point 2 if you’re making a musical.

Buckaroo Banzai: Utterly ridiculous, bad effects, story that makes no sense, but immensely enjoyable. Howard the Duck: Worth it for Lea Thompson's earnest performance. Action Jackson: Waffles a bit between bein an 80's action movie and spoofing 80's action movies, but it stars Carl Weathers and is a fun ride. Honorable mentions: Dr. Goldfoot and His Bikini Machine: Only not on the main list because it's legitimately a good movie. Out there title and premise (Vincent Price make robot zombie gold diggers) aside, it's witty, well acted, and has some of the best slapstick of its era. I agree, Piratical effects and CGI are tools, however, I believe Practical effects are the superior of the two, due to the fact it can exist on its own without the other, and can allow for more genuine reactions from actors. Lets say, a scene were a character is pushed against the wall by a T rex, an actor can react better to a basic model of a T rex head then say a tennis ball on a stick
