Todays famous grave I visit legendary character actor Brian Glover. He was in the classic Kes, American Werewolf in London, Alien 3 and so much more.
Described by The New York Times as a "robust character actor" who played "gruff but likable roles", he had a "string of roles playing tough guys and criminals". He once said, "You play to your strengths in this game, and my strength is as a bald-headed, rough-looking Yorkshireman". Glover was also known as the voice of the Tetley tea commercials. The Independent described him upon his death as "one of Britain's best-loved actors".

What a career! He appeared in the episode of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? called "No Hiding Place". Bob and Terry had a bet with him that they would avoid hearing the score of an England football match played that day. A former work colleague of mine was from Barnsley and Brian Glover was his English teacher; he was nothing like the character he played in Kes.

Having walked around Brompton Cemetery this morning and googled ‘famous people’ in said cemetery… I was shocked to see a distant relative was laid to rest there, Brian Glover! This video proved extremely useful in locating Brian’s grave and even managed to leave him a white flower on there… I couldn’t locate a white rose (Yorkshires flower) in time. Much appreciated!

Great character, Brian Glover. Loved him in An American Werewolf... and Alien III. And of course as the neighbour in Bottom episode "Gas". And he appeared alongside a young Rik Mayall in an American Werewolf in that classic pub scene. I also believe in the paranormal and I reckon Brian was messing with you and the end there Paul; a bit of playful "wrestling" to say thanks for being there and remembering him. Top video as always, my friend. Respect.

I knew someone who saw him in an open air theatre production in the 80s or early 90s (it might have been The Canterbury Tales). Apparently he was talking to people on their way in and being a bit cheeky with the audience by playfully insulting the lads and asking the women for a kiss and then squeezing their bottom if they got a bit too close. It was all in good cheeky fun of course and in line with the rowdy character he was playing, although I don't think anyone would dare act like that now. I think it shows the kind of down to earth person he was. So playing with the phone from beyond the grave sounds about right for him.

Hi Paul one leading up to Christmas 🌲 if you can a Wilfred Bramble (Steptoe) since I've already done Harry Corbett and Fanny Craddock for all her Christmas cooking shows and ideas she gave my mum so many ideas for Christmas 1985 because that was the first time I've spent Christmas in a Winter, because Iam used to having Christmas in Summer Tropical weather so that means Seafood, tropical fruit yes pleanty of the northern hemisphere menu ham cold chicken and Turkey we have mince pies but the plum pudding unfortunately isn't severed up in Australia we do that as charity thing in July called Christmas in July where the weather is more used to those foods so we do triffle and Pavlova for Dessert at Christmas. But yeah Wilfred Bramble and Fanny Craddock if you can leading up for Christmas. I can wait for Edward Woodward that's the one Iam really looking forward to and when The next time the Ashes series is going to be played if you can Douglas Jardine and Bob Wills and I know your not the biggest cricket fan I only watch it from time to time even thou Ive had relatives play Australia/England, Queensland, Somerset Durham and Warrickshire. Thanks again Paul.

Brian was an iconic actor and is sorely missed. Other notable burials there are Gus Mears founder of Chelsea FC who’s stadium is featured in the backdrop of this video,Suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst and Henry McGee famous for appearing in The Benny Hill show. It’s sad Brian’s grave is slightly neglected, but that’s probably more to do with it being a London cemetery.
