One of the things that’a distinct about the Universal Appeal video is that it isn’t just her enemies around her, it’s her band mates as well. 6:35 you can clearly see Roxy and Clash (Eric and Stormer appear as well in other shots). Pizazz’s ambitions and confidence are so strong that to her even her closest associates are absorbed by the gravity of her ego. It really helps set up her mindset for the viewer.

Jem and the holograms are just as talented and the fact that she changes appearance for a hologram doesn't make them any less talented.

How is Jem cheating? She changes her appearance, not her voice. And the Misfits don't cheat during competitions? Did you even watch the series? Very first episode, when Jem and the Holograms announce that they would compete against The Misfits, The Misfits then stole The Holograms' instruments. You don't think stealing your opponent's instruments qualifies as cheating? To say nothing of the fact that St. Stormer (I call her St. Stormer ironically, since she's only marginally better than her bandmates, which is not exactly a high bar to clear.) And did you even watch Hot Time in Hawaii? All The Misfits did was cheat. Or how about the time they stole their master tape and recorded their own song over The Holograms' music? Remember "There's A Melody Playing/There Ain't Nobody Better"?

@@PatrickTheWriter I never said that they are angels but using an advanced technology from 10+ years from the future is basically cheating. It's like a pistol vs a laser gun. And you don't know what others advantages it gives. It's hologram etc but they never explained everything. Autotune could be added we wouldn't have never known. And it's an old serie.

universal appeal was the song that made me start watching the series actually! i randomly saw it pop up on youtube and thought it sounded good and the rest was history....still the best misfits song (this was also like 8 years ago and i still rewatch jem when im feeling nostalgic)

What an odd selection of Misfits music. “I love a scandal”, “Surprise, surprise”, “There ain’t nobody better”, the incredible bass riff of “how does it feel”. All these should be in the top 10!

Super special day for me. Almost 10 years ago they had "JemCon" in Mississauga Ontario just outside of Toronto and my burlesque friends organized at the same time a Jem and the Holograms themed burlesque show with all of the characters from the show inc The Misfits, The Stingers and Rio. They had a mix of female and male performers. At the same time they had Samantha Newmark aka Jem and Jerrica speaking voice actress there signing Jem posters and taking pics and meeting fans. I got super shy meeting one of my top role model since age 4 lol but i got over it and while in the washroom a bunch of random women we were in the washroom not knowing each other and one of them was like im the signing voice actress of Pizzazz. It was Ellen Burnstein aka Norma Human. We all freaked out with glee and ask if she could sing a song. She said sorry I'm too tired from the JemCon, then when they did a Q and A at the end of the show, the last person that ask a question asked and convinced her to sing a song and she sang "Universal Appeal" live in front of all of us. Omg was i ever giddy like a 4 years old with a permasmile on my face during that and entire burlesque show. After i got to meet "pizzazz" real mom in real life and she use to be a burlesque performer in the 1920s. It was definitely one of the best days ever for me!! ❤🥰😍 now i have both "Jem" aka Samantha and "Pizzazz" aka Norma as Facebook friends hehehe both super nice down to earth. ❤ thought id share mt experience. Thanks for makijg these videos.😊

Oh wow! That's an amazing experience! That is truly a blessing and yes it's amazing to finally speak to your childhood heroes. I had the opportunity to meet Samantha years ago by never Ellen, so I hope to meet her someday too. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story. 😍 🥰

....I have NEVER seen this TV Series (or even heard of the Misfits), but, fell down a rabbit hole of YT clips...and I cannot belieeeeve the tune, "LoveSick" is NOWHERE to be found on this list! ...I've been humming it every DAY! ...recount!! ...ha-HAA!! ...I agree with "Universal Appeal" at #1, though....

Always nice to see the Misfits getting some attention (Pizzszz wouldn't have it any other way of course) Strong choices, I'd probably have added "Designing Woman" and dropped "Misfits in Hawaii", but that's purely a personal thing, and I won't deny there's not a one on the list which isn't a top notch ear-worm! (And yes, sorry Jem, The Misfits were right, their songs ARE better)

@ZehnWaters you are correct, though sunbow's headquarters was in New York they sent their work to Japan for it to be animated. Like how Steven Universe had their work done in south Korea

I can picture Techrat's face upon seeing Pizzazz pounding on the computer to the point of exploding. Too bad we didn't get to see him yelling at her, "THAT'S IT! YOU BLEW UP MY COMPUTER! I admit my picks for these songs were different than Jem. Although the visuals were nice, I was feeling the style of music the misfits were bringing. It's that why purple like them so much, or is it because if the characters or both?

Well, colour this old dude confused as all heck, looking for the the top ten Misfits (the late 70's punk rock band) songs, and finding this lol. Having said that, My favourite all time band is Band-Maid, and I have the Bubblegum Crisis dvds, in which I totally love all the songs hahaha

Lol amazing! Can you blame the algorithm though? I don't know if you would consider he cartoon misfits a "punk" rock band but they ended up with a fourth member. Band-maid sounds familiar, have they done an anime intro? And Bubblegum, Crisis!! I remember a friend back in high school showing me artwork from the series. Man that animation style brings me back. Thank you for the nostalgic walk down memory lane.

@@JustAnAverageGirl83 Yes! The 80's were my jam, the golden era for all my fondest memories of most things in life- Music, Motorcycles, Movies, Cars, the wonderful Ladies, everything hee hee. Band-Maid is a sort've progressive Rock group of all young Japanese women, utterly spectacular musicians, who have done lots of Anime intro/theme songs. I hesitate to limit the genre as progressive rock though, because they do it all, pop punk, rock, metal, jazz-blues-ish, hard rock, heart felt ballads, jaw dropping acoustic versions, you name it. To me, they are arguably, one of the best bands in modern day history, and completely brought me back to listening to music again. Cheers, love 🙂

My favorite misfits songs are as follows: I am a Giant (the first misfits song I ever heard and showed off pizzazz perfectly) I like your style (I have a sweet spot for jazz and adding a sax player to the misfits rocking vibe was a sweet combo!) You outta see the view from here( can’t remember if that’s the right title but this song has awesome visuals and a fun vibe!)

Many don't pick "Off and Runnin" as a favorite but there is something about it that I like but can't figure it out, maybe it's that off beat/syncopation handclap sound at the beginning.

Hold up. So, Takin' it All, Ahead of the Game, Designing Woman, There ain't Nobody Better, I Love a Scandal, Love Sick, Surprise Surprise, and TRAPPED weren't honorable mentions despite some of the being the most innovative in refreshing the Misfits music? I mean there is no only song featuring Jetta but her Sax has no role in the Father's Day episode.

Let's not kid ourselves, Britta Phillips had better voice but The Misfits songs were better than Jem's. I can only put 3 Jem songs as my favorites but when it comes to The Misfits, that number grows to 10+.

Very good opinion. To me, its alright. I like music with a great beat to it. If its got bass, even better. The animation for Surprise, Surprise is good too but when combined together with the music, in my opinion there is no flow to it. Thank you for letting me know your favorite song, much appreciated.

It’s funny because they weren’t even WRONG in the opening theme song. Majority of the Misfits songs were better than the Jems. That and Pizzaz was far more of an icon than Jem was.
