Today, we’re diving into a conversation with Paul Rosolie on What They Don’t Tell Us about the deepest part of the Amazon Rainforest. Paul is a conservationist, author, filmmaker, and amazing storyteller, who dedicated his life to protecting the forest, its indigenous communities, and its uncountable number of living species in the Amazon. His organization, Junglekeepers, now protects over 55,000 acres of threatened habitat in western Amazonia.
His first book, Mother of God, goes into extensive detail about his experiences and conservation efforts in the Amazon since he first visited at the young age of 18. He then wrote his second book, The Girl and The Tiger in 2019, while doing work in India.
His most recent work in filmmaking is the short film DARK GREEN where he travels alone to the heart of the Amazonian jungle in Peru in search of the last remaining wilderness on Earth.

Thanks Tracy, I've listened to Paul Rosolie on multiple podcasts and watched the same one multiple times. This is the first time on your channel. I always hear something new and even what I hear over again is still so interesting to me. This guy is living the life I wish I had lived. His story is so cool.

I’ve watched /listened to Paul numerous times & I truly feel that one day his name will be synonymous with people like Steve Irwin, Sir David Attenborough or Jane Goodall to name a few. He has such a passion for the Amazon & all of its creatures. I really feel like his journey is just beginning & it can’t be stressed enough how important it is. His mission is vital to everyone on this planet.

Paul is such an amazing man! I have watched so many interviews and podcasts with him and each one is different. Even as many as I have watched I still hear new stories in each one. Like he said, even if we can only do something small in our own backyard it is something. All I can do is make sure the flowers I plant are native that help bees and other pollinators feed and live. So I have done that. I hope to be able to do more in the future. For now I will keep being inspired by him. Great interview, 1st time viewer now new subscriber.

Your amazing at interviewing!! Idk i also struggled in school and at the same time was a girl scout and worked at the zoo near me and excelled at everything but school and i was absolutely fascinated with the jungle and everything nature and I have come to realize that I have learned more from nature and animals than i would ever sitting in school!!! I just loved the questions you asked this is the first ive watched you and the second ive watched him!! Thank you so much you kinda brought alot back to me and kinda reminded me why and how I got where I am and i did bc i stopped following my heart and started doing what everyone else wanted me to!! Follow your dreams ppl!!!

So good. Question for Paul - what kind of conflict has there been between your rangers protecting the forest and those who want to burn, log, gold-mine, or otherwise destroy it? And how frequent are those conflicts? In other words, how hard / dangerous is it to protect and are there examples where your team was unable to successfully protect it?

He gets into that in other pods. Watch his podcast with Lex fridman a lot of loggers and gold miners end up working for him.

Not sure the Amazon is the last wilderness. The forests of Papua are perhaps equally or more unmapped/unknown.

Stop comparing school or other uncomfortable situations to prison you have never done any time in prison and it’s completely different. The levels of stress and violence are on another level and not to mention the mind frame and corruption
