Dear Manasika Guruji .Since you requested for an answer,below is my intuition on why you have placed particular emphasis on Sankriti Gotra .You would have children of marriageable age and you belong to Sankriti gotra and have descended from that Rishi clan.Hence you have done extensive research on your lineage and don't want Chevva Dosha to your descendants on account of marrying from same Rishi Clan. Excellent presentation, request you kindly to do a video on the origins of gothras. This may shed light if the rishis knew about human DNA, and the health issues that arise when people marry within the same gothra. It may not be relevant or applicable in present time as the Indian DNA may have changed due to various invaders that ruled for many centuries . Thanks once again for the video .

Sir, what is the difference between sankrit, sankriti and sankritya gotra ?

i am a kayastha and i belong to shandilya gotra how is this possible since we are supposed to be descended from chitragupta?

In my family we have traditionally had the opinion that gotra is acquired only on upanayana/deeksha. A son gets the gotra from father because the father gives us the brahmopadesha . We are harita gotra but angirasa is a pravara rishi for us because an angirasa gave the brahmopadesha to harita. So is gotra descent based or deeksha based ?

Guruji Sankriti gotra must be your gotra. I know my maternal gotra is Raigar from Rajasthan and Married to a family with Srivatsa gotra interested to know more about this lineage. I have no clue why my family is in Tamil Nadu remote villages for generations now but the rituals followed are that of UP/Bihar. Nobody knows our exact caste some say it’s Kanya kubja Brahmin and are originally from Kanuaj nobody knows how come they are in such gr8 numbers in the south.

This detailed information was very informative and interesting. My Gotram is Porugutsa but people from this Gotram are very rare. Can I know i am descendants of which Rishi. Recently I had visited Srisailam Mallikarjuna Shiva Temple as there is no private lodge here i approached a Brahmin Chatram to stay. The rule is when you enter you have to fill up name, gotram etc and when i mentioned my gotram as Porgutsa the Manager refused to allot me room saying there is no such Gotram. I tried to convince but he said me No. Then after an hour when i again approached same chatram this time i mentioned as Kaushika gotram and i was allotted a room. What i want to ask you is why Poragutsa Gotra is not familiar and why our own Brahmin confuse when I tell my gotram. Kindly clarify Sir.
