It doesn't matter what the history was, it lead to a beautiful relationship among two people and at present it's considered as a pious institute. I am not asking anyone to not marry their bestfriend, infact I have been with my bestfriend since 2009, and I hope I marry him. I don't think it would sound nice if I get involved to someone else romantically after getting married to him or even now. It would be considered as cheating and adultery. Justifying something by law doesn't necessarily mean it's morally correct. Moreover, I am not criticising the concept, but the part which said 'your partner is allowed to involve with other people outside their marriage romantically', that sounded disgusting to me, it may sound justified and okay to you. PS: I didn't want to argue with anyone in comment section, I know different views exist. No offense to you, I don't think arguing with anyone here would give me any good result. No sex grants you easy divorce bcz it is seen as mental torture. Thr older you grow, the more you see the hypocrisy. You can't force it bcz it's marital rape (which it is) but in some families forced marriage are still happening and no case is there on that. If marriage is forced thrn sex will either not be there or it will not be Consensual, although there are definitely some chance that the couple can do it consensually too. It's a downward spiral with no escape.

Arranged marriage have similar concept, and it's not being criticised. What is being bashed is the concept of open marriage. The idea of seeing your partner with someone else alone is scary.

really? isn't that how half the Indian marriages are like too? especially the previous generations. the only added condition is producing offsprings w ur partner bcuz khandaan ki agli peedhi. I don't see any difference tbh - families sit down and discuss everything, plenty of couples out there too who are romantically detached but stay together to appear stable in society, and yes some ppl have extra marital affairs too, so what's the difference really?

You went on women's body count when Korean & Japanese men normalise cheating way too much . What makes you think that's not the main contributor to this kind of marriage being a thing ? They go to prostitutes too. There are many interviews of Korean men who have said they don't consider going to prostitutes cheating , especially if men do it . So as per your point of view, only women cheat. Males like you have so much pride in themselves. That, they can't even digest that both cheat. In some marriage women cheat whereas in some marriage, males cheat. Toxicity has no gender. It applies to both males and females. Nobody is less. Even males go to prostitutes despite having a loving wife. Don't forget your mom is also a woman .
