Winner of two Academy Awards®, including Best Animated Freature. Carl Fredrickson, a retired balloon salesman, is part rascal, part dreamer who is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, Russell, an overeager 8-year old Wildnerness Explorer who has never ventured beyond his backyard, is in the wrong place at the wrong time -- Carl's front porch! The world's most unlikely duo reach new heights and meets fantastic friends like Dug, a dog with a special collar that allows him to speak, and Kevin, the rare 13-foot tall flightless bird. Stuck together in the wilds of the jungle, Carl realizes that sometimes life's biggest adventures aren't the ones you set out for.

That sound effect scream is called the "Wilhelm Scream" and it is a bit of an inside joke among movie makers to use this scream in their movies. It's been in moves as far back as the 50's, but after the sound designer from Star Wars used it in several films, it became common to use it. Altogether, it's been used in over 400 movies and tv shows. And now that you know that, you'll hear it everywhere.
@colettebezio1913
@colettebezio1913 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Ben Burtt, the sound designer from Star Wars, said in an interview that he heard that scream in a western when he was a kid, from a character named Wilhelm who took an arrow to the throat. It impressed him, and he used it as a sort of signature in all the movies he worked on. Of course, once he had said that, curious people identified the scream he was talking about, and now it gets added as a joke (or homage) to all sorts of movies.

Crying, every. single. time. I didn't it was possible to cry watching a reaction of this movie, but I did. The fact that they can't have kids hits hard. Karl and Russell's relationship is everything. When R was a lone on stage, then Karl came to pin the badge on him... This is everything I want in a movie: emotional, beyond beautiful, comical, creative. Up is an absolute masterpiece, along with Coco. These two are top tier.

Just look up an image, it's exactly the same 😄 As far as I know, from research and hearing from the creators of the film adaptation (1920s) it is based on a real place (the lost world plateu is). I always forget what it was called, but Salto Angel doesn't sound familiar, it must have been different. But yeah, it's a crazy beautiful looking formation.

My parents went through infertility problems when having me. They tried to have a child for six years until they finally found out that my dad had Klinefelter Syndrome, so he's infertile. Obviously that was very upsetting for them but luckily they managed to have me in the end by using artifical contraception, a fertility method. My mom also has diabetes so she was very ill when she had me and we both almost died. I feel very sad for the people who can't have children but people should definetly know that it doesn't have to be the end. There are many other ways to get children, they're just not as obvious and easy. So try to stay positive and don't loose hope. That's what advice I'd give anyway.

If you are doing animated movies, you have GOT to do some of the Studio Ghibli movies, especially the ones by writer / director Hayao Miyazaki. The originals are in Japanese, but John Lasseter worshiped Miyazaki and arranged to dub several of them into English, with major actors like Christian Bale, Patrick Stewart and Uma Therman. Four of my favorites -- Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, and Spirited Away. There's also a really hard-to-watch movie called "Grave of the Fireflies" that tells the story of a family in the firebombing of Kobe, Japan in WWII

Idk why but I did some rough math, and he would have needed 18.2 million balloons to carry his house if it's 2k square feet. If the balloons ,hypothetical of course, were weather resistant and the helium was good quality then that's like 2-5 days or more of travel time. Although if he relied on wind and curtains to steer him idk how fast he would go (probs 30 mph ?) which from Utah to Mt Roraima is like 4k miles which means it would have realistically taken him a few months (possibly around 115 days). Idk if it's even right but I know that shit would take forever and isn't a tangible project. Edit: just saw that national geographic did a project on it (on a smaller scale) so I guess it could happen, but it would still take forever to travel that distance.

I can't have kids and I always thought I could adopt, but it turns out that's next to impossible for lower income couples. I've resigned myself to this fact but I do have a niece or nephew due Feb and I'm excited. You have a beautiful family. Cheyenne is a sweet little miracle and your partner is ok now. Very happy for you

There's a channel with a talking cat called BilliSpeaks, if you're interested. When she started off, her favorite word was _mad_ but now she can express herself a lot more. We get her criticism of her owner's taste in music, as well as inventions of new "games."

I am so sorry you and your wife had to go through that, but I am very happy to know she pulled through. It is easy to see just how much they mean to you, and how much you love them. It shows through so clearly. Your wife and kids are lucky to have someone like you in their life and in their corner. My Mother is a very small woman, (4'10.5") I have an older sister, but both pregnancies were very hard on her, because of her size. Both of us had to be caesarian section births, and she was told she couldn't have any more because she, most likely, would now survive having a third caesarian, there was way too much scar tissue. And I know that my birth was difficult, as I take after my Father, being a stocky Irish farmboy build. But both of my parents are amazing people, and gave my sister, and I everything we needed to grow to be good people. I just am trying to be one. To end on a slightly happier note, my favorite joke about this movie. "The first 7 minutes of this movie is STILL a better love story than the entire Twilight series."

Also, I recommend a goofy movie. Both of my movie suggestions, this and treasure planet, are central around father's so I'd love to see your reaction to both. Also, there is a sequel to a goofy movie you could watch.

Thank you for sharing your story of your little one that you lost and how hard it was for both you and Jane, not enough people talk about it and people do feel alone when they experience it. I lost 3, I feel your pain and I see you and Jane ❤️ When I saw you were reacting to UP! I knew you had no chance of getting through this movie without crying! Everyone I know cried seeing this movie! Great reaction as always! Looking forward to Finding Nemo! Please do Finding Dory too 😊

First ten minutes kill me every time. And every time that DAMN book came out and the leitmotif plays. Also the shot of the house having made it back to the falls. Jon Ratzenberger voices the Construction Worker/Hamm from Toy Story. Jordan Nagai(Russell's)older brother was the one who came in to audition for the voice, but they liked Jordan so much he got chosen.

There are so many great animated movies, but for me the pinnacle of animated movies are "Up" and "Wall-E." I usually will put "Up" at the top if I am pressed, just because I think Wall-E's third act is not as good as the rest of it. That being said, the first act of Wall-E is probably my favorite animation ever. The first 10 minutes of "Up" are among the most powerful animated sequences ever, and what makes the movie so great for me is how the rest of the movie pays off on everything set up in those first 10 minutes. It's not just, 'here are 10 powerful minutes followed by 90 minutes of semi-related silliness or action.' Everything that follows those first 10 minutes is tied deeply back to those ten minutes. The entire movie is satisfying because of the attention paid to make every detail pay off the set up. Several animated movies I recommend to people (and I know you have already seen a lot of these): Classic Disney-- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, Bambi, and The Fox and the Hound. Bakshi's classic "The Secret of NIMH." Ghibli studio's "My Neighbor Totoro." I also recommend "Shrek," "How to Train Your Dragon," "Kung Fu Panda," and "Zootopia." Two classics that I don't see people reacting to are Disney's "Fantasia," and, for adults only, "Heavy Metal." They are very different from the others and worth watching.

The way the announcer talks is called a Transatlantic Accent! It's an intentional accent, specifically developed by the early 20th century American upper class (and WIDELY used by entertainers, broadcasters, and movie stars) in order to sound different from "the commoners."
