Great reaction. Upchurch is one of the most versatile artist there is. He has produced and recorded twenty one albums in the last seven years. That is an average of 3 albums a year, which is almost unheard of. They range from country to southern rock, to alternative to some amazing rap albums. The man is incredibly creative and super talented. If you've listened to any Alice In Chains, he has covered a couple of their songs. His cover of 'Rooster' is still one of my favorites, but his catalog is deep.

Yep Upchurch is totally independent. He does everything from rapping his ass off to singing amazing country songs. My personal favorite of his country stuff is, "Holler Boys" that one hits me like this one hit you. Upchurch is also funny as hell. His videos of him ripping on things are hilarious. ALSO he's the one that got Adam Calhoun to start rapping and if it wasn't for Upchurch Adam wouldn't be where he is today. Bunch of years ago Upchurch was recording music in his trailer and Adam was there and he saw Adam writing lyrics and he asked Adam what he was doing he told Church he was just messing around. Went up Church read the lyrics did he was writing he told Adam you got to sell rapping again. The first song and video that Adam Calhoun ever put on KZfaq is him and Upchurch together and the name of the song is "Die Tonight" that one is fire.

Check it: Upchurch is the most successful independent, yes he's independent. He's got over 100 Billboard charting songs on the hip-hop, rock and country charts. I believe every one of his albums (20+) has charted including his first, I think. 90% of his content is rap (of several types but mostly country rap), but he also has several country and rock albums and singles. He's been offered to sign to labels 4 times that I know of, but turned them all down. Said he won't sign to slavery. He and his fan base are the reason country rap and independents blew up to this degree. At least 2of his albums are platinum, 2 are double platinum, and I forget how many are gold, but it's over 10 - all while being independent. Basically speaking: Ryan Upchurch was first to beat the game. Over.

He is independent by choice. He will not sign although they've tried. He does everything. His dream is to do music his way and to be a legend. I would recommend a few of his old songs to get a feel for what and where he came from. "White lightening" is a must. "Legend" is a good one. The song that really took off for him was "Rollin stoned" it is referenced in several songs. There are hundreds. I wish I had time to list all of them.
