I am ACTUALLY eating that RIGHT NOW, the salad I mean. I've got a bell pepper, radishes, cukes and some arugula with it. And the best treat, some leftover-from-dinner red snapper that my daughter caught while at the beach last week, the last week before school started here in Atlanta on Tuesday. Kids are back in high school and I'm taking my lunch time to get some inspiration from Laura! Thanks to her, I've got MORE in my garden this year, I know what to look for, all started by seed. This is the first year I haven't used bigger plants already started, they were so expensive! I just have a small space, maybe an 8 x 20 area on the side of my house where azalea bushes used to be (yes, I took them all out myself and I'm 62). Very proud to be a Laura Fan!

I have also done this with garlic that was not fit for storage. I removed some layers and tossed the fresh heads into the food processor. Then I spread the paste out onto a baking tray and ran a knife through it to seperate the paste into portion size squares. I froze it like that and when frozen, took them out to seperate and put them into a tupperware that lives in my freezer. When I want garlic I just take out a square and throw it into the pan frozen, works great!

A café near me grows sweet potato vine in planters like yours on the sidewalk and grows them directly above in hanging baskets. After the season progresses, they join the growth and they entwine and the result is a waterfall effect. I've never seen this done anywhere else. It's amazing. The business they attract is annexing. It's so inviting as well as the food.

Thanks for sharing the harvesting of your veggies! Watching you work brought back such good memories of watching my dad harvest from his gardens - especially those "new potatoes" (as he called them). It brings a tear to my eye thinking about the number of years that I followed in his footsteps in the garden as a little girl - literally trying to step where he stepped.. He's been gone for 7 years now and had a garden as long as he could. Eventually his heart would only allow him to have a few plants but he still loved every one of them. So thankful for these memories!
