Insurance is definitely a ponzi scheme. I see situations like this and realize I need to review and update my policies.

ROADKILL had a bright yellow (REAR ENGINED) MAZDA PICKUP stolen and it has never been seen again. also a very distinctive vehicle. i hate thieves.

I've heard if you want to find the thief you can allegedly try this: Get some help gathering another F250 and a trailer as a bait-car. Make sure there's redundant tracking. Park in that lot, rent a room, and tell the desk manager that you have expensive, shiny things parked outside. The rest will be self-explanatory. Wait out those initial weeks if you have to while they test the waters, unless police can grab them before they hide the stuff. Maybe you get your thief, maybe you get a different one with information about your stuff. Whether or not they tell the police info about your stuff is anyone's guess. But the odds of them spilling the beans is the same in any situation where they're in cuffs. Maybe they go right to the nest where they have 50 trucks stashed.

A 25$ air tag would have been worth more than the cost of $10,000 worth of insurance premiums.

I worked for an insurance company for a summer. Can confirm from the inside that it is in fact a scam. The guy I worked for owned his own branch and hated the corporation he worked for. He did everything he could, including telling his customers exactly what to say, to be sure that they got covered and didn't fall into one of the fine print loop holes. Very disheartening that our elected officials not only allow this but profit from it themselves.

Man, sorry for your loss. In 2013, at the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge, we blew a hose. Your dad was parked next to us. He just gave us the part and the adapter. That is the kind of people your family is, always giving. That is why I found this so troublesome. I hope this will be passed along in the You Tube community before these crooks can chop it all up. Somebody had to see something somewhere. I had vehicles stolen also and the police did nothing, but one time I was able to recover my vehicle on my own. Be persistent. Do not lose the faith.

I’ve never been helped by insurance either… funny how in every other first world country the insurance payed thru taxes… here it’s payed for by taxes and again by the customer and then they don’t even help you ever and drop you the moment you use it.

You will spend all day trying to lower your et by a few hundredths of a second to win, and on the same day help your toughest competitor change a clutch or pull the heads- and even bring your own refreshement! You are undoubtedly correct about the two fives thing the sheriff's deputy told you; But these guys have done this before- I suspect they knew exactly what was in the trailer either shortly after or before they stole it, and, for now, it's still with in 15-20 minute drive of the motel, inside a barn of big garage. When it moves, someone will see it, someone will make the call. For now, some more of the Camaro that you and your dad look teamed up on. ON the insurance; they are a far cry from what Ben Franklin had in mind when the legal provisions that should underlie them were written down.

To go from such a devastating story to what this has become in a month is very heartening. The car community is a bunch of good people on the whole.

the technological age we live in has went from open communication to an open mass capitalization on scummy money gains through scams available for any financial situation possible. and insurance being a large mandated government scam is eye opening. money truly is the root to all evil.

I had a mint condition low miles 95 civic insured for theft and sure enough it was stolen. Even after showing pictures of how nice it was to the ins company, they only gave me $600. Not even effing worth paying for the insurance....

Insurance totally sucks. I’ve got a disassembled car in a garage here in the UK. It’s worth a fair amount but I can’t insure it with car insurance as it’s several boxes of bits. Home contents insurance won’t cover it because it’s ’a car’. If I could get insurance there’s no doubt be some way to wriggle out of paying out if anything went missing.

Either your cars are over seas. Or someone has them sitting out in the boonies well hidden.

While discussing lessons to learn, it is certainly a good idea to put trackers in/on significant valuables. Airtags and the like are relatively inexpensive and invaluable to recovery in a situation like this.

That insurance is like everything else government gets involved in. We’d be better off if government wasn’t involved. Like with insurance being mandated. If the insurance companies relied on good service provided to get customers instead of a government mandate, they would provide better service instead of collecting pay for minimal effort. it's good to see you're not down and out. showing the car at the beginning of the video made me think the car was recovered. you hit the nail on the head talking about those scammers. i got myself in trouble with credit a few years ago. a bunch of "credit repair" companies started calling and sending letters. and bogus loan providers. same story. just a money grab that really doesn't help you out. hang in there.

After this happened Calvin, I would look into hiding GPS trackers on all of your trailers and vehicles. If it happens again, the vehicle can be tracked right to thieves location by the cops.

I'd be suing the Hotel, if it's a Holiday Inn, they should be held responsible for what occurs on their property. I'm not a litigious person but, how can anyone ever feel safe to give those clowns money to sleep and not be able to feel safe knowing that the property is protected and someone is responsible for what occurs on the premises. There is no excuse for them to not have security equipment monitoring their grounds unless they purposefully encourage the theft of their customer's property and alert criminals to rob people for a cut. Their insurance or your insurance someone is gonna pay and if they don't pay then I would have them paying to defend themselves in court. Even mitigation costs those corporations a fortune. They're much more likely to settle and give you what they owe you after being a paying customer exactly for situations like this. I would spend everydollar I could on a lawyer or find one who works based on a percentage of a future settlement. Of course I would find a different company, preferably one who doesn't treat people like the only way they can be safe is if they never leave home and never travel or see this country or experience life. That is assinine. Hopefully Brandon Herrera gets into Congress and we can convince him to push reform bills against the dishonest practices of insurance companies...after he abolishes fhe ATF of course.

My friends were at SEMA and had a lot of this same mess happen to them. They found the truck, but the trailer with thousands in equipment never showed up. Its believed that it was headed to Mexico.

Long time ago I was going to build the best 73 Cuda I could afford. I had Indy Cylinder heads for the stroked 440 I had built. All ended when a yahoo decided to relieve me of about $25000 worth of my investment. The insurance paid about $400, the rest a loss. I never built the Cuda (it's still in my garage incomplete}. My parts were sold for pennies on the dollar. I know where you are coming from and at 74 I keep telling myself I can complete the Cuda. The point is, don't give up. You are a very important part of the performance industry. You have taught and entertained us. Don't stop now!

Insurance is a scam, government mandated monopoly. I've had many issues with insurance claims on my motorcycles. One claim switched back and forth for who is to blame 3 times! I had camera evidence, but the other person was a police officer. The video experts took my side, but the manager stepped in and overridden them and then refused to talk to me.

Unfortunately "insurance" is a for profit business and one of the ways they maximize those profits is by not paying out on claims. If you have ever had any dealings with them and the fine print, vague definitions, and endless phone trees and departments then you know.

I am sorry to see this event. I advise people to reach out to the Insurance Commissioner of the state you live in. Insurance companies never like to hear from the Commissioner. Most of the people that I have advised seem to get their claims rectified in a timely fashion. please let me know if this helps. Theft is out of control these last 4 years and makes my stomach turn. Its sad that people can be so disgusting, but others can be amazing at the same time. Coming up on 4 years ago a also had about 1/4 of my net worth stolen from me, along with mine and my family’s sense of security and peace in our home, on our property, and in our “neighborhood”. One thing i can tell you that might save some grief dealing with sleeze ball insurance companys. If the police call you up with some of your recovered property that you did manage to get the insurance to cover part of some how, if you try to be an honest man and contact the insurance company about buying the recovered stuff they partially paid for back from them, they will want the full value of it even if they only paid half. Just tell the police it is yours and go get it. Its sad but that is a real life lesson i learned. Even tho the pistol my recently deceased mother got me for my 16th birthday was stolen from me then recovered, it has probably been destroyed thanks to germanamerican insurance demanding 1400$ for what they paid 700$ for. To be honest if i had it at i would have paid it to get that back as its sentiment is priceless to me, but i didnt have it as my life has been anarchy since november of 2019, my “neiborhood” once quiet and peaceful for 15 years has been over run with tweekers that helped themselves to the houses the older folks around me left behind. I have had to spend every bit of my money, and bust my butt at work to get all that i could over the last 4 years to build fence, security systems, huge dog, semi immovable safe, and replaceing everything that was taken from me that could be replaced. Between that and many other suprises i find myself flat broke, and mentally and physically drained. Jim beam has helped my mind calm down enough for me to sleep in the evenings while im home tho im not far from that causing more problems than it helps. My family is about the only reason i havent went marvin heymyer on the meth labs that took over my neiborhood and the people living all around me that stole my belongings and sanctity, and that sob at the “insurance” company. I hope it gets better bubba. I dont know you really at all, but you seem like decent people and im truly sorry this has happened to you, i hope it isnt any worse than it has to be.
