Today, I'm sharing with you my updated beachy waves short hair tutorial using a curling iron by Kristin Ess. This tutorial is very in depth and I wanted this video to be a video that you can always come back to and learn how to create these really gorgeous beachy waves for any hair length. I absolutely love this technique! I’m 53 years old with long hair and I struggle sometimes with the new styles. I’m from the perm era. I tried this this morning and love it! I love how my hair frames my face. It was fast and easy. Usually when I curl my hair it comes out really big which I don’t mind sometimes but there are times I like a more relaxed look. This is it! I have had the hardest time using a straightener to get waves. This tutorial was amazing! I was able to get great waves right off the bat!

I'm jealous, that you can part your hair so easily. My hair is complicated. One single hair is straight, one single is curly, one is wavy. And so on. Styling is nerve-racking for me.

Maybe, you should try the curly girl method - sounds like your hair is naturally wavy or curly but got damaged from styling. You're last name sounds German, so if you understand German, you should watch Silvi Carlsson's videos about this topic :)

This is always how my hairstylist does my hair after I get it cut or colored, and I've never been able to do it on myself until I watched this video! This is exactly the look I was going for, and still looked so good even with my crappy curling iron. Thank you for sharing!!!

I was skeptical that this technique would really do anything different than how I usually curl my hair but I tried it today and it really does make a difference. Adding that unwind-twist action really does give a different shape and texture to the curls. Love it!

I’d love if on videos like this if you could do a update at the end on how to freshen it up the next day. The beauty of a style like this it can last for days but not have to do that much to it completely over. I struggle with that part.

The only technique that works for my hair! I have thick medium length hair and traditional curling methods always leave me with a weird mushroom look. Thsi is the only technique that works. It’s fast, easy and gives me the perfect beachy waves I always wanted. Thanks a million!

I tried this technique and was finally successful!! I’ve never been able to get this look with a wand or a flat iron... it’s always just way too complicated for me. But for whatever, this video made total sense to me. And I was able to curl my hair this morning and I absolutely LOVE it! I think this is going to be my new go-to curling style! I’ve been curling my hair with my nume t3. I usually use the one inch barrel. I make barrel curls and then break them up and shake them out. They drop a little right away and I love how they turn out.

@milabu I need to thank you for posting this; you haved saved me from spending more time AND money on seeking the perfect beachy wave! Absolute GAME CHANGER!! I have super fine hair that does not hold a curl for anything since I was about 20 years old 17yrs ago! Who knew I could achieve such great results using my old ass curling iron! 48 hours later, I STILL have a loose wave! I did use some BIG SEXY HAIR VOLUME gel (not much) before I used the blowdryer. THANK YOU a billion and one times! I wish you could know exactly how grateful I am. I know, "first world problems" - but I've done so much to my hair over the last 17 years...EVERY type of hair extension (thought length and/or volume would increase odds of beautiful beach waves, 30 waving/styling/braiding/heatless curlers/hot rollers/curling gadgets, at LEAST $20,000.00 (sadly, that's 100% true), and all along it was the $10 twenty-year-old curling iron in the storage bin, in the attic. Hats off to YOU!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Frequently, I’m late to the party for hairstyles and this is an example of that, for me. Plus I’ve been growing my hair out to be long and it’s now probably 3 inches below my shoulders. I want to give this a try though. I miss your hair tutorials, although you may be back doing them again. I know I could go back in your history and look at them again but I forget to do that.

Tried this on my medium length hair and I can’t believe how good it came out! I did way chunkier sections and it still came out beautifully!! The key is that twist and leaving the ends straight

I saw you do this in another video and loved the way it looked and I tried it the other day and my fiancé said he loved my hair I was military for 5 years and I use to be awesome at styling my hair and after I got out I just couldn’t remember what to do or what to do your tutorials save me from just throwing my hair in a slicked back ponytail everyday lol so thanks
