Billing and coding for office visits isn’t something that we focus on when we're in NP school. It’s something we learn on the job and it’s definitely something that’s overwhelming. (Or stressful. Or tedious. Or some combination of all three.)

v Liz, I would love a fancy billing course lol! I will charge a code on top of regular billing for things like EKG interpretation, cerumen lavage, PHQ9, ect- but I am sure there is way more!

Hi! Thank you for your question. I recommend asking the office manager/ billing department recommendations for this quick text. It Is important to find out what your local insurance payer requires, specifically for time based documentation.

Can an RN in private practice bill OHIP?

This question should be directed to OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) directly. As based on your home state and practice they are likely to have specific guidelines to bill.
