I’m getting the impression they’ve taken a reading of Eva as an anti-hero instead of the villain.

It sounds like they are finding the truth of a young woman, who was abused & controlled by a male-dominated society. Realize in a time & culture which used & undermined their women, Evita Pernon, was able to use those crushing lessons & build a nation of loyal subjects; Regardless of prosperity. She was a Latina woman who rose to power & that was no simple or easy task🔅

So does this praise the Peron regime? What about the people who were killed or disappeared? Even Andrew Lloyd Webber said he didnt want to write a musical that left people in awe of Eva. In the end its a story about fascism/populism which adversely affected Argentina.

not at all. it humanizes them but does not excuse their actions

Evita was not black. But it’s ok. Also they didn’t mention how Perón opened the door 🚪 for the Nazis.
