You can always return it if it is within a certain amount of time. Just call the company and tell them you throw away the packaging by a mistake. They will send you a return label and you can use your own box.

Maybe you could put the dishes on marketplace to sell or see if anyone has some they don't like & you could trade? Just a thought. ( you don't like them I can tell😉)

That is always a good feeling coming home to your loved one, feeling at home. I have been with my husband for almost 26 years now. We have had our ups and downs but always working hard on our relationship. I always say it's like a company and you need to invest and always communicate. Not sure if your space situation allows but get another ikea shoe closet and use it for your folded sweaters. Then use the closet overhead shelf to put items from the closet floor.

Warmed my heart when you said how much you love Europeans. We love you too! And I actually think that you are one of the few Americans that would actually like it here and fit right in. I’ve known many who have moved here through the years, and to be completely honest many of the women struggle to adjust to the culture and way of life here. However I can tell you are very different and seem like you would really love it.

HI there Taylor and congratulations on the move!! We just moved as well and we're still getting ourselves situated with our furniture and stuff...that's the fun part :-). I just wanted to comment on the part about how much you enjoy meeting people from different places. It's funny, when I was in grammer school in Chicago, my mother had all these friends who were visiting professors from around the world, to teach at the univversity there. I used to ALWAYS befriend the kids because I was fascinated at how they always spoke engish and then their own language - the fact that they were different than me made it even MORE interesting. It was like I was travelling but not really...lol..I think you enjoy 'different' Taylor and that's great. It means that you are open to different people and just ''difference'' in general. This is how we learn about other people and cultures just by opening up our minds and hearts! I can't wait to hear all about your Italy trip. Are you still taking your french lessons? They don’t seem like your style. If you can’t return them, I recommend keeping them & when you cook for neighbors, family, or friends, you can send them home with the food on those plates. I do that with older sets & just tell the folk they don’t have to return the plates n to feel free to pass on to others if they’re cooking. If there’s no room to store them, donate them & get the write off or try to sell them. I highly recommend looking at anthropology, home goods, & crate n barrel. They all have great looking serving sets that I believe y’all will love. I hope that’s helpful. Just my 2 cents. LOVE the new dress! 💗

Welcome back! I remember Madrid… their siestas were so frustrating! Almost everything shuts down midday! I remember tapas… the bullfight (in Seville), flamenco (!) and the Prado Museum most vividly. You’re too cute! Love the new apt., esp. The roof… The Mikasa porcelain is very “dainty”… shop around some More… maybe some cool pottery? NYC space is impossible to navigate…My BFF has been wanting us to move in together, but, I can’t imagine how, even though he has 2 bedrooms (but only one bathroom)! We chose a “pier bedroom” which means we had cabinet space above the bed built into the unit as well as on either side. We split the space for my stuff and his. If you don’t mind across from your bed, it’s conceivable to put up open, or closed, shelves, or cabinets above the bureau. You’d be filling up wall space but at least gaining floor space. Frustrating. Anyway, Italy waits, right!? Ciao, Bella!

I love the dishes... That white and blue is so chic and kinda vintage BUT you are right, they don't go with the overall vibe of the dining area. Ps. Sweaters do stretch when in hangers (I've lost a couple of them this way) it's best you fold them.

If you don't like the dinner plates and absolutely can't return them, you can try selling them! There might be home decor places that consign in the city! I think orange or yellow toned plates would be nice to complement the warmth of the woods in the apartment!😊 But regardless, it would be nice to eat out of something you like looking at! If you end up moving the sweaters, my dad built me a shelf to put ontop of the closet shelf (like yours) and it truly helped because the sweaters aren't stacked high all on eachother so it's much easier to put them away. Alternatively, you can get shoe shelves and put them underneath the hanging clothes and put the sweaters there! Or, if you could get something like a shorter Billy bookcase-like storage to have vertical storage in your closet! Then you can also put your bags there too! And still have your top shelf for storage. The good thing about the gold top is that it'll last so long and it looked like such a fantastic fit on you! I often feel like zara's fit isn't the best or well thought out, plus you supported a smaller company!😊 I'm Croatian!! I hope you got to enjoy the Adriatic Sea while you were there!!😃

I LOVE Mikasa! It’s my favourite brand of China and I have some; I’m not a fan of blue because I associate that colour with ‘cold’ but the patterns combined are really nice! Perhaps you could get the same set but in a different colour?

Taylor-loving your new apartment! Exciting times! But this must be a lot for you with moving and traveling so make sure to take some down time and take care of yourself. It’s fun seeing your new space come together! Looking great! But my vote is no on the dishes. Very pretty but the style and the color don’t work with your apartment. Way too traditional. I don’t super care for the blue plates either but they aren’t the worst! Especially if you already have them, you can deal with them for some time before investing in a set you like better!

I love your kitchen table against the windows, so fresh and airy!! I dont think the Mikasa dish sets are that bad : P since you can't return them. I would have gone with minimalist style.

As far as grilling goes, you'd be good at it ( because you enjoy other types of cooking / food prep )! : ) *We just marinate some boneless/ skinless chicken breast for a few hours in the 'fridge ( whatever marinade you like best ) & put them directly on the grill. Make sure they are grilled all the way through.... super easy & keeps your apartment a lot cooler in those hotter months to grill outside. *We also have grilled fish... I prefer to not put fish directly on the grill..... you can find lots of grilling items at Target for that.....but, I like to use a steel tray made for grilling that goes directly on it with the fish on the tray. *You can grill veggies in a little "made for BBQ basket" to keep them steady & less able to burn. : )

What about some drawers for in the closet for pjs and workout clothes?

You could be overloading the washing machine or your not putting the clothes in evenly too that could be the problem because with small washer and dryer like that you have to be a little bit more careful loading them 😊

The Mikasa dinnerware is beautiful, but it seems a little more traditional than your apartment is leaning. You could add in more traditional touches in the dining area to make them fit in more, or go with something else. Juxtaposition is great, but it needs to be balanced and intentional.

I love the blue dishes but I think the place setting should be at the two chairs that look out at the view that you love, I also think your desk should be facing the window so you do not have to have the shades down blocking the view that attracted you to this apartment and that would eliminate the glare on your screen. I also think you hanging clothes in the den should not be the thing you see when looking at the room but instead have your pink couch visible as it is so pretty. Taylor these are just my thoughts but do not have to be yours so please do not take my ideas personally. I think the dishes are nice but if you don't like them return them for something you might like better. Try some neutral dishes without any design because neutral goes with everything. Also you might want to think about getting a tablecloth or placemats for the table because the dishes might scratch the glass top on your table.

Honestly, I love the dish set. Obviously, they would look better in pink. But the blue is something different. If you get some placemats and cups and such to complement it won’t be so not your style.

You may be overloading your washer. We used to have exactly the same stacked unit, and it worked best when the washer was no more than 1/2 full - more than that and it doesn’t spin correctly. The dishes are pretty, but they’re decidedly cottagecore, which is obviously not the vibe you’re going for. Something simpler in a solid color I think would suit your new home - maybe something in pottery rather than china. Please be aware that in Italy many venues, including museums, churches, and even restaurants, have dress codes that specify much longer hem lengths than what you’re used to, as well as covered shoulders (especially churches). The Zimmerman shorts are cute, and would be fine in beach towns, but pieces like that probably won’t work in Rome or Venice. Many venues in Italy have reduced schedules during the summer, so be sure to check online before heading out to somewhere that might be closed. All that said, I hope you have a wonderful time.

I agree with you. The grey and blue aren’t vibing well and the pattern is too old fashioned for the furniture. Some stonewear might be nice, something organic. ( bone china actually has a component of animal bone - usually pig- just a heads up in case that matters to you :))

Please do not use metal bristles to clean the grill! Use a metal flat stainless steel spatula to scrape! The bristles can come off and imbed in your stomach and intestines.
