Building a community helped I Heart Dogs grow their online business to more than $22 million in revenue a year with more than 50 million online followers. Founder Marshall Morris shares his advice for starting an online business in this interview.
I Heart Dogs is a company with a mission. They started as a way to save pets in shelters and animal rescues. Ten years in, they’ve fed more than 30 million shelter dogs and raised over $1.25 million to pair veterans with PTSD with service animals, truly living up to their motto of healthy pets, happy homes, and empty shelters.
This mission has clearly resonated with customers--but that doesn’t mean their growth journey has been easy. They learned early on that sales don’t equal profit, and have lost money and overcome plenty of other challenges along the way. Marshall shares how his adaptability, tenacity, and mindset helped him build I Heart Dogs into the best online business it could be, even through its difficult periods.
The size of I Heart Dogs’ community has been a big driver of their revenue growth. In this interview, you’ll learn how they connect with potential customers and turn them into regular monthly subscribers.
If you’re wondering how to start an online business from home, one question you’re probably asking is: What does it cost to start? Marshall tells us how much they invested to launch I Heart Dogs, along with his advice for finding funding and how someone could get started with a shoestring budget.

@@UpFlip Hello! How are you. First of all I want to thank you for replying back. I love, love your channel. So thank you very much. And about your question is that I was going to try making candles, because I see how just about everyone likes them, but I don’t feel like that’s my thing. I made a few, but it didn’t bring me any kind of joy, satisfaction or motivation to continue making more. I like to do crafts, like keychains, gift baskets, bookmarks, beaded pens or anything with beads. But my only problem is that I’m an introvert and get intimidated very easy and uncomfortable, especially every time I see you interviewing a person and seeing how they are very brave and successful and socialize with everyone. You see, I have always been bullied and my self esteem is very low. I’ve been listening to motivational speakers to Christian sermons so I can start changing my mindset. It’s slowly working and I feel as if God is telling me that this is my time to step out of my comfort zone, and start doing something with my life. I want to work and become independent, in my own business. I know God will guide me. I’m also tired of working where I’m at, because I’m not learning anything new, I’m tired of waking up so early and having to drive almost 30 miles to work. Don’t get me wrong, my bosses are the sweetest and most respectful people to me, but there is something in me that is telling me to start acting towards my dream. Do you have any suggestion or guide me in the right direction? Thanks in advance. Keep up with those amazing videos. You have a faithful follower.

Actually, these days businesses do a lot of collaborating with other businesses that have their own followings, by then coming on this KZfaq channel they are going to get more business and they didn't have to pay and they didn't have to even cover the cost of recording and editing. What you're thinking of is different where there are businesses that depend on secrecy to retain a competitive edge, a lot of businesses have abandoned that philosophy and are finding being more transparent is simply performing better than concealing all their practices.

The math doesn’t make sense at all How can they have 22 mil biz with roughly 1.8 mil orders per year , even at order value as low as $15 dollars that already makes the business 27 mil Something is not right with the info you are giving us Probably something is massively underreported Also what 3PL would say goodbye to a client for having too many orders 🤔
@UpFlip
@UpFlip 9 ай бұрын
It's important to remember that all businesses don't have stable numbers. Additionally, a smaller 3PL provider may not have the capacity to support a fast-growing business effectively. And kudos for them for being honest about that.
