Well done! You can daisy-chain cable ties together to make a longer fastener. I keep wire more for repairs than snaring small animals in my EDC. If I really expect to be somewhere remote where I would be lost or injured and without food for days, I bring a larger kit.

You should make a battle belt kit that would go good with a bugout bag. on it have the 10 C's. The British Army has great surplus to do this with. Their newest gas mask bag is fantastic for carrying a tarp, paracord, folding saw, food and other gear and it has MOLLE on the back to attach to the belt. Buy a matching water bottle bag, a few pistol mag pouches (for your multitool pliers and 18650 flashlight). Add a dump pouch for collecting food or kindling. add a couple british army sustainment pouches to keep your other odds and ends in. Attach your knife sheath. All fitting neatly around your waste and not hindering movement like a pack would.

There's a minimalist belt kit video on my channel. I'm not really into having too much on my belt, just tools and basic fire kit.

That's quite possibly the most packed out Max-Micro I've seen on YT lol. You can actually slide zip ties into the seam that wraps around each side of the pouch (to the right of the sak and to the left of the cordage?. The saw could possibly fit in the pocket on the front.
@wildnessoutdoors

It is packed to the absolute max, I doubt a bit of paper would slide into the front pocket!!

Put a few fishing hooks and a few small split-shot sinkers between two pieces of duct tape the size of a credit card. Then wrap a little fishing line around the tape, or around another piece of gear.

You could fit Grim Workshop fishing card in there. There's one that has a backup knife in it with a few metal flashy lures and hooks. I built a kit very similar since I watched your first video on it.

One "cheat" I've used is to attach a paracord keyring by its keying or carabiner to the handle of my micro pouch. It provides a longer handle, extra cordage, a carabiner and a keyring to secure anything strong enough (e.g. the whistle and compass, perhaps?) to survive outside the pouch.

I appreciate that you took the time to make this follow up video, but I think you were on the right track with your first iteration of the pocket survival kit. There’s no way you’re going to survive for multiple weeks with just this kit, as I’m sure you know. This is an overnight kit to keep you alive until you’re rescued or can get to safety. Therefore, most of the items people told you to add are useless. The peanut butter is fine. You can survive weeks without food. You’re not going to be fishing for food after just a few hours of being stranded. And you won’t be stranded long enough to warrant a fishing kit, IMHO. The saw on the SAK is plenty sufficient and probably better all around than that chain saw. Also, the lighter is not necessary when you have a ferro rod and duct tape. Although, I wouldn’t argue against bringing it. The whistle, however, is a great addition. As are the extra medical items. I hope this doesn’t come across as me being rude. That’s not my intention. I just think that you had a well thought out and practical pocket survival kit, and most of the extra stuff is impractical for its intended purpose.

I've been known to fast for as much as 4 days with zero food. You definitely do not need a couple of peanut butter packets to 'survive'. I would DEFINATELY dump them in exchange for a space blanket.

I've done 3-5 day fasts before, it's way easier than people realise. If I needed to walk any distance or deal with a situation, I'd rather have the calories personally. Thanks for watching 😁

You could still fold up a fair sized piece of waxed paper and fit it in there. It will still burn when wet but it burns very quickly so it might not be worth your time.

Those wire saws get a bad rep. They actually work fairly well if you know what you're doing. Instead of sawing from the bottom of the piece of wood, saw from the top. The wood will separate as it's cutting and drastically reduce snagging. Also, it works even better if you bend a branch and make a bow saw with it. I've had lots of success with both techniques. Will it cut as well as a Silky or Bahco? No. But as you said in the first vid this kit is about compromise.

100% agree. The cheap ones just break but the decent ones are functional.

Or a simple foam ear plug or two works well as a bobber, and it compresses down to fit anywhere. Just shove the hook through the foam and slide it up to wherever you want it on the line.

It was a great kit before. I would guess you wouldn’t go out in to the woods with just that kit or that shouldn’t be your bug out bag. I would drop it in the bottom off my bag or put it in my pocket as a last ditch back up.

on the fishing kit. take a 4 inch piece of duct tape, place the hooks and split shot in one end and fold the tape over the contents. imo i wouldn't bother with the saw. is there a saw on the sak? a mini bic lighter might fit better too. great job!!

I agree with you about those saws. I mean I'm not sawing firewood. If it's along piece of wood, feed it in as it burns and call it good. I would dummy cord that lighter if you keep it. I'd hate to open that up in low light conditions, and you're tired and forget about it and it falls out and you lose it.
@wildnessoutdoors
@wildnessoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yeah I should definitely dummy cord the lighter. I do a similar thing with longer wood, I put the middle on the fire until it burns through creating two shorter bits.

unless you have a container you can boil water in, you don't have the 10 C's. The tin foil isn't gonna cut it. It won't last. And the water bags are great with purification tabs but the tabs will only sustain you for so long. The 10 C's are supposed to be solid. They should last a long time. I don't see a full tang knife in their either. The little pry bar is useless.
@wildnessoutdoors

@pyrosmoak53

As Wildness Outdoors said backups and redundancies, but also if you separated from your main kit or bag. With a pouch or tin in your pocket you have a better chance of survival compared to no kit in your pockets.
