Yeah, it's pretty epic they allowed us to upgrade to 5000. I lucked out with my recent purchase. $150 for a Origin PC on the x370 platform. I'm planning on upgrading to Ryzen 5000 and hopefully a 3080.

I found a b350 a ryzen 5 2600x and a set of 16gb x 2 of Corsair Vengeance rgb Pro Ram for just $30 on a used item app I have.

I Jabra the same thing bit Intel I built for 10x the cost 3 years ago so its nice to find small gems like this. Intel i5 9600kf msi h370 pro gaming carbon motherboard vs 2600x msi b350 tomahawk motherboard, I myself am confused on which one to main and what to sell off for my free ram upgrade. Went from 2x8gb corsair rgb pro to having 48gb. So I think if I sell off the one pc stuff I'll keep the better one and take it as a free upgrade once I sell it. Maybe even have some extra earnings overall to keep or add another upgrade. PCs are fun if your smart.

@@cadenprosise2609 it’s a really good improvement. I mainly did this to be able to play GZW and it runs much better now (though still low settings). But it was running a little too hot so I ended up buying a peerless assassin cpu cooler. Which works amazingly well. But if I knew I was going to buy a new cooler anyway, I might have been more likely to go up. The 5700x was hitting 84 deg just using the stock cooler from the 1600. The assassin dropped it to 56.5. Both maxes reached playing GZW for a couple hours.

You could probably get away with it, but Nvidia recommends a 650w psu for the 3070. Get a wattmeter and try it to see how much the system draws power while you game. You want to aim for 50-70% psu utilization

You are absolutely correct that mixing cables can cause issues, especially if they are different make/model. In this case I verified online and confirmed with EVGA technical support before doing so. The cables for the 650w and 550w SuperNova G3 models are exactly the same.

The cables are the same for corsair 750/850. You can use from either one and you will be fine. This is also the case for EVGA. These companies are not going to make 2 different cables for power supplies they rather save money and make them for multiple types of power supplies from the same company.

@dagerry yes. The new GPU, wasn't working. Also I can't seem to run 4 ram sticks now. Strange. I even swapped other rams sticks. It's working, but I'm gonna buy a new built system in a few months. Thks for asking.

@@SystematicHardwareyeah im not. im still checking the differences between the 5500 and 5600. but like mostly are 9 fps difference between the two and something about the 5500 is 30watts less consuming than the 5600. so the 5500 is maybe a good upgrade for me

No problems like that. The only problem I had was post bios update. It didn't automatically boot into the operating system. It eventually corrected itself.

If anyone had same problem like me, just format your flashdrive to NFTS. Half minute job in diskpart :-)

I wouldn't do it, but it is compatible according to the Asus website. As for the VRM temp, you could get a cheap $20 temp laser for monitoring

I haven't tested the 5800x on a b350, but I will say that if you're planning to get more than a year out of the upgrade and/or upgrade a graphics card to anything higher than a 4070 I would build a new system. Those b350 boards most likely won't support Windows 11 and windows 10 end of support will be in 2025. The b350 boards memory limitations at 3200 mhz will severely bottleneck most higher end modern graphics cards.

There's no way to answer this question especially when not given a complete hardware list including the graphics card as well as resolution and refresh rate of the monitor. There's also a bottleneck in every system on the planet. Then you throw in different games and optimizations to further complicate things. If your gpu usage drops below 80% with graphic detail on ultra (with a reasonable monitor paired with the graphics card), chances are you need a faster cpu.

You would have to use the initial processor to check/verify the bios version. Then update the bios if necessary. You have to be on that latest bios revision in order for a 5700x to work and you need the old processor to do it.

On the site for the motherboard A320AM4-M3D(V1.0A) it states under support that the latest bios version supports the 5700, but it doesn't state "X". You'd have to verify that your motherboard is the (v1.0a) and you can do that as well as verify the cpu version by contacting manufacturer support. I wasn't aware that there was a 5700 non x so it could be a typo.

@@SystematicHardware I just looked it up, and there are two versions of the 5700 the G and the X, I believe they were making a grouping, but I’m going to do a bit more research before jumping into putting this into this motherboard.

B550 supports faster memory, most likely has a TPM chip for Windows 11 support as well as PCI-E Gen 4 lanes.

Check your motherboard model website and update bios to latest version and you should be able to use 5000 processor. Be aware that you might have to update bios couple times as latest version requires bridge bios from older versions. Also when using AM4 platform it is required to download chipset drivers from AMD website in your case B350 is your chipset. You can check your motherboard bios version when entering bios. If you never done bios update it’s not complicated. You can always look at YT, learn how it’s done and do it yourself.

If your computer will boot with 4600g you will be able to enter and update bios. For bios details(supported cpus generations etc.) you should always check your motherboard model website. I suggest that you do research before listening to anyone online and confirm that this is correct.

You could technically put a 4090 in there & it'd work, but there'd be a bottleneck even with a 5950x. Graphics cards just work. Ultra compatible. I'd recommend AMD for a new card. Everything below the 4080 is gimped with Low vram or undersized bus or both.- unless you love Ray tracing of course.

That's a nice upgrade. AM4 is an awesome platform for upgradability. I'd suggest more than 16GB of ram too. My RAM usage was around 10GB while playing Borderlands 3. 16GB is recommended for that game, so I thought I was fine. I eventually added 32GB and same use case had ram usage of 14GB, so memory compression was occurring. I noticed most of the frame time spikes were gone in the benchmark too! (Not all, but most)

​@@victoricus1 I haven't tested this, but my common sense based on the limited cards at my availability - I think that platform would limit performance with the higher end 4000 series cards like the 4070ti to 4090, but it also depends on many other factors. However if you reasonably pair a mid-range card with that system you should be fine.
