I can see a lot of this being a good booth for selling things in the web. I'd just make the whiteboard on the inside, skip the ventilation, and make the pullouts wider.

The packing tape I would recommend two layers of tape since it's easier to peel tape off itself and the outside layer would be the sacrificial layer.
@LogHouseFarm

I have the same LED strips, and I left them on for a while and checked for heat... I don't think the tape will melt, and the double layer idea would take care of the over-spray
@WoodUCreate
@WoodUCreate 3 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing too, but instead some weak scotch tape, then the packing tape, because packing tape would be very difficult to removed from the LEDs and could end up ruining them.

I spray paint for a living my spray booths we lined with wood and then spray a silicon layer which just peels off once it gets thick with paint just an idea it's cheaper than replacing the wood all the time and it peels off pretty easy
@eclsnowman
@eclsnowman 4 жыл бұрын
As a rule of thumb, silicone is the mortal enemy of a paint shop. Are you sure it's silicone? Most peelable booth coats are a latex based. To be honest you never want to get silicone near automotive paint, even WD-40. I was part of the team that got to go fix and replace another vendors ductwork at a well-known snowmobile and ATV manufacturer because they're installers used silicone and they're paint fisheyed for half a year before they figured out the root cause. Silicone caulking for example doesn't fully out gas for a really long time.

Great video as always One thing I want to point out is that LED do get hot as any other electronic or machine that uses electricity as energy. The difference is the amount of power they need. So, those small leds won't heat up much because they are probably 1 watt each or so. But people can get confunsed and think that all LEDs, no matter the wattage, will run cool, and that can lead to accidents.

Cool project! You might consider using restaurant grade plastic film to cover your surfaces. Like the strapping tape covering the lights, it's easily replaced as needed - and saves on repainting. It's also relatively cheap at restaurant supply stores. I love the storage idea. My only concern is that your ventilation hood is too low. But I'm definitely stealing the paint cabinet idea! Thanks for a great video!

One thought I had was to put the triangular baffle on a rocker rather than have it fixed with the triangles. Basically put the rocker at the horizontal centerline of the fan opening. When you are spraying hanging things towards the top you rock/toggle the baffle so the wide part of the triangle is up. When you are spraying things on the turntable near the bottom you rock/toggle the baffle so the wide part is on the bottom (like you currently have it permanently).

Bob, a suggestion for next project! you should make a spray can warmer device, made with aluminium or something with thermal conductivity, with the same shape as the can with a set temperature display so you can dial it and get your can always warm before and while using it. If cans has too many different shape it could had sides that move toward the center to touch it at many spot to warm it gently. nice content as always! I like the paint booth! if you need more powerfull inexpensive LED 12V DC, check aliexpress with WHITE DRL COB. its about 14cm yellow rectangle COB led with a black surrounding. The light coming from thoses are great, even better if you use a small PWM module to you can dim it very easy (if needed). Use many of those none had fail

The best way I've found to fasten surgical tubing is with a marble. Feed the surgical tubing through a hole, insert a marble that's bigger than the hole into the tubing into the tubing. Deburring the edge of the hole so it doesn't cut the tubing. Getting the marble into the tubing can be tricky, but rolling the tubing back onto it self (like a rolling up your pants) is the easiest way.

I thought your idea was cool for the fume problem around 5:00, but the way I would have gone about that is to make a hole as you did, but then add a board with 1" risers to go over it. That way, you can't spray directly into the hole but you also get suction from all around it from the blower.
