Best xmaxx upgrades (for me)are esc, tires,rpm arms, captured hinge pins,spur & pinion with them upgrades its made my xmaxx the most adorable rc in my collection.

I feel like the Ultimate versions are a great alternative for those not that familiar with the hobby and customization work. But if you already know your stuff, I think the stock is the way to go UNLESS you actually want the parts from the ultimate.

Fun fact, the belted Sledgehammers for the X-Maxx Ultimate comes as standard on the regular X-Maxx.

The stock spur gear on mine shattered before the battery died, and again on the second run before the battery died. I highly recommend getting a steel pinion and spur before anything else. Definitely agree with replacing stock servo! As a side note, I found the adapter for the servo is the same part number for the XRT. However, it doesn't fit the XRT Traxxas didn't believe me until I showed them in person at their shop in Texas. They are supposed to revise this. The shock covers are also useful and cheap. Also, /agree with front carriers (XRT or RPM) If only a max 6 fit in the budget. Traxxas ESC's fry all to often. The Max 6 really wakes it up and improves reliability. Some 24mm adapters for some nice DBoots backflips tires.. Well I could keep going.

Owned a traxxas x maxx before, first bash the play doh spur gear broke, than garbage the esc went, than the servo stripped out, than the tires. For a 1k rc from traxxas this stuff shouldn’t need upgrading out the box, went with arrma 8s rigs never looked back!

Front RPM knuckles are too flexible causing king pin tear out. Good work as always and Amain for the win when purchasing on line👍💯 and HOBBY QUARTERS for my LHS

I hope you vented and taped those tires before going through that water. If not, the foam falls apart later on 😂😅. Great stuff!

awesome video dude a pleasure to watch as always. in my opinion i feel traxxas is slipping big time when it comes to aftermarket parts i feel u have to modify them too much to make things fit. i also think this is the reason arrma is becoming their main competitor. an in my opinion a far better brand. I'm deciding whether to get an xmaxx next of or the 1/8 kryton

Tip: when using the captured hinge pins, face the nuts to the front and screw head towards the rear. Reduces the chance of dirt packing in the screw head.

The GPM servo adapter and steering horn are a perfect fit with no trimming required. Downside it takes like 3 weeks to get from China.

I’ve never been the type to just replace parts unless I’ve actually broken them, nothing against those that want to, I guess I’m just cheap lol I generally use RPM parts when available and I stay away from aluminum and steel “upgrade” parts because they usually cause a bigger problem. I don’t like a steel spur gear especially because I don’t want to break the transmission stuff instead, though I’ve only ever messed up a spur gear when it wasn’t set correctly to begin with. I’m not the type to beat on my rcs to see what breaks either though…

I’m similar to you but instead of being cheap I just don’t like the extra work I like to charge and go. I guess you have the kind who liked the tinker and modify things and then you have people like me who just wanna play and never wanna be bothered tinkering I don’t even like charging the battery lol

My way of thinking, for the most part, is if the stock part breaks it may indicate a weakness, sometimes I use the opportunity to upgrade to a stronger part. Also, too much of a good thing can actually decrease performance if you upgrade just for looks and add a bunch of weight.

I went with the ultimate, better bang for my buck and I don’t have the time to wrench so it also saves money on getting everything installed at the hobby shop. Been a blast and only things I have broken are all the arms and both tie rods, I replaced those with the plastic ones and they have been great

@@Improvise_Adapt_0vercome this is not that bad as money pit, just 1 , 2 parts here and there some lub for the bearings and some maintenance for the diff from time to time , you still need to do some wrenching to maintain it. Do you want to go to the shooting range with me? you will see what a real money pit is :D , couple hours at the range = 150$ in bullets. if you try to upgrade all at once 15 of your rigs , it can be a money pit , but at the end you dont have too , parts for RC are cheaps. only the batteries and electronics are not. my main reply about this post was about the guy buying the ultimate because he dont have the time to wrench. I upgraded my maxx with all Vitavon alu parts . best bang for the bucks than going with this ultimate, imo

hey Brett You forgot one very important part. the dust cover to cut down a lot of cleaning time on the Xmaxx. I got a dusty cover. man did it keep down so much cleaning time. tend to get a tad bit warmer. nut trade off. i was never happier with it. now i can tear up just about every thing bring it home and just have to worry about the arm tires and axels.

it’s truly insane that a $1400 truck immediately needs a servo out of the box. My XMaxx experience was very disappointing. I had to warranty the electronics twice and I couldn’t for the life of me get my remote to set and points correctly and would reset them constantly. I cut my losses early and sold the truck for $600

The Traxxas purists are in full force on this video. You know who has an all metal gear 800 oz servo that’ll run 8.4v BEC straight out of the box? Arrma 8S

This truck also has a hardened steel pinion and spur, with safety clip retention. I can't remember if it's keyed or not. The upgrades are actually pretty significant.

The hot racing servo horn with the clamp on the side wouldn't have worked anyway when you try to steer, the clamp has interference issues.

Wish it didn’t comes with the sledgehammer tires nowadays. Assuming they’re glued the old tires were great, can’t do backflips or tricks nearly as easy with belted tired

Stock sledgehammer tires aren't belted, only if you get the ultimate. I've had the non belted and they're better than stock.

Save even more money. Buy a Vigilante from Redcat. You'll thank me later. It actually handles decent and has body pins that hold the body on. Nothing like my Xmaxx and it's self removing body.

I just bought the Traxxas X maxx ultimate just the body without any of the electronics and added the castle creation 2080 1100kv and xlx2 esc with hyperflow fan kit also a belt drive system added the x maxx wide kit, M2C 1192 X SERIES WIDE KIT to put on the pro line Badlands MX43 tires it’s super wide upgraded steering servo. Im calling it the ultimate X-Maxx ultimate I was wondering people would like to see a video of it?

Holy cow you guys spent almost $400 and the only worth while upgrade was the servo and rear Hub carriers. Mod 1.5 gears would have been a great upgrade along with Aluminum diff covers and ring and pinion shims. Its kinda obvious you guys dont use the Xmaxx often considering you made yoyr furat Xmaxx video a year or so ago.

I will NEVER buy hop-up parts that I have to alter the chassis to get them fitted. Hop-up parts must be precision fit.

Half of the box diff protection...half is metal and the other half is plastic. Electronics are OK....tires are not balloons, they are not useful, they are not useful for jumping or lifting from the front...the price is so exaggerated that it always takes 10,000 SR to reach Saudi Arabia. Traxxas errors are many😅The remote is very old, so why not change it?

Those fromt RPM hibs are horrible. Best to fet rpm rear And XRT fronts. The pins pop out constantly on the rpm front carriers

First that is retail price it would cost a fortune to build a xmaxx from just parts so that is nonsense about the price next is there are the original parts that are not put on to build this so where is the deduction in price for the factory parts they did not install its not like you get a bag of original parts so the price is way over inflated. I would rather see them fix the body popping off and the dang thing folding in half in the back actually fix problems not throw shiny parts on and call it new

For $100 less than a basic XMaxx you could go the Arrma route, which includes a bigger servo with twice the power, a larger motor, a more powerful ESC with adjustable features, a bunch of aluminum chassis attachment upgrades, beefier drivetrain, and a more thorough aftermarket behind it. And yet nobody talks about it. Horizon always sleeps on their best trucks. If horizon had a marketing budget like Traxxas does, nobody would buy an XMaxx. It’s embarrassing.

but you have admit a xmaxx is way stronger. i have both outcast 8s and an xmaxx. did the same backflip off a wall on both trucks. didn't land them half the time since I'm not the best at it but I bent the outcast chassis on the second try. the xmax broke a front bumper peace witch dint even mater for the function of the truck. but the outcast is out untell I get the new chassis.

Xmaxx is the best large scale production RC vehicle bar-none. No Arrma can withstand the punishment an Xmaxx can.

Arrma doesn't offer anything as large and strong as the X-maxx. They have their fifth scale but they break too much and have metal chassis.

The parts you put in are great for the weekend warrior but if you bash hard rpm and hot racing don't cut it even in my mini Maxx the hot racing bell crank metal folds over like butter couldn't imagine how bad it's happen in the xmaxx only real upgraded that you guys did that make sense is the hinge pins other then that your sitting people up to buy things twice my theory is buy once cry once why waste money twice in cheap parts get vitavon know you guys dont supply them but them far out preform rpm TRX or hot racing upgrade parts

@@boduke9428 same never had issues with them there good parts made of quality material unlike got racing everything I've got from those guys is no better then plastic there alloy folds like butter same with there pinions never had luck with them be sweet if amain struck a deal with them and stocked there parts at least they'd have some of the best parts on the market
