my mom was a seamstress & milliner. When she taught me to sew she insisted that the inside be as beautiful as the outside. This was a pleasure to watch.

I added "rope binding" to a twin bed mattress cover using solarium fabric using my commercial juki sewing machine. I used took apart old cover and used it as a pattern exactly. I noticed the fabric puckered a little as I was going along applying the cording but didn't think any thing of it and when I was attaching the sides now, Im about six inches shorter at the end on the main piece. what caused this?

@@jeanettepoe374did you add in your seam allowances and the extra fabric needed to cover the cording?

I wish I found this before I finished a set of boxed pillow cases. Most of my corners are puckered together or pinched. The way you explained how to sew around corners was soooo good! I’ll be doing that in future.

This is a blast from the past. Growing up my father had a furniture shop. He made bedroom sets and living room/den sets. From start to finish, he did everything. My oldest sister was given a bedroom set and a living room set when she moved out. (She is much older than I am.) She had both sets, for 30 years. The bedroom set still looked brand new. And there was not even a loose thread on the living room set and yes, the fabric was very outdated!!! Products that are made with quality in mind, truly does last. Thank you for the video. I never had any clue on how he sewed the cushions.

I am replacing the cushion covers on my patio set for the first time and was looking for a visual demonstration to help me figure it out. Your video is one of the very best tutorials I have seen with clear instructions and fantastic camera angles. With your help I was able to see where I went wrong with my first attempt and have now successfully made my first cushion cover. Only 11 more to go. Thankyou!

Great video! I've just sewn my 1st ever box cushion cover. I'm recovering my old cushions for my narrowboat dinette. Was very apprehensive about how to tackle this task. And found that your video explains it very well and after watching and breaking it down into steps managed my 1st one. I have a hobby sewing machine and managed to sew it all even with a quite thick upholstery fabric

What a fantastic video! Thank you so much for sharing this. I am about to attempt to recover some pieces of antique furniture I got second hand for little and nothing due to the shape it was in. It was exactly the style I wanted though and to buy it already reupholstered would have cost about 30k. I really appreciated how you addressed the thickness of the fabric with all those layers. I honestly was going to give up but when you said I could likely get away with using my home sewing machine with a thinner fabric I was so relieved to hear that. I am going to be using silk dupioni to re-cover the pieces as it will not get much use and is mostly decorative and that fabric is fairly thin. I am so excited to get my project underway now. Your clear instructions and all the information you shared has made me quite confident.
