When I studied music at Goldenwest College in Huntington Beach, California, I had one of the best jazz teachers ever. In our jazz improvisation class, several techniques were presented for creating an interesting improvised solo. One of the techniques was to play familiar quotes from well-known melodies. In this video, (which is mostly remarkable for the upright bass duel) I noticed that the 'melody' that Brian Setzer actually quotes during his solo is the sound of tuning of the guitar.

I suffered through the 70s Elton John heavy metal and disco, all I wanted to hear was rock and roll, Chuck Berry driving rhythm reverb guitars, then 1980 Brian setzer stray cats, I couldn't believe it ,he brought back rock and roll at its purest sense and made it fashionable,

This is awesome. I just started listening to this type of music when I got into a band called Highway Hi-Fi. My buddy plays the upright bass in that band. Rockabilly is so easy to listen to.
