TIMESTAMPS: 2:57 -- The crew speaks on how they got through the last two years and managed to stay busy over the course of the pandemic. They go on to discuss Cypress Hill's Cuban connection, the history of hip hop in Cuba, and how it's progressed over the last several decades. Emcees becoming less afraid of being outspoken and voicing their anger over the government's long history of oppression. They also talk about Eric Bobo's father Willie Bobo's place in music history as one of the pioneers of Latin Jazz and how that impacted Eric at a young age. 8:13 -- Sen Dog talks about his coming up in the city of South Gate, California, being one of the only Afro-Latino families in the neighborhood and joining a gang to avoid the beatdowns he was taking all too often. They discuss South Gate's proximity to other active hoods like Compton, South Central and Watts, as well B Real eventually taking a bullet and Sen Dog doing his best at that time to convince B to get off the block and join him in the studio along with his brother Mellow Man Ace. 17:27 -- Sen Dog is asked how he ended up on Sons Of Anarchy. They go on to discuss Sen's younger brother Mellow Man Ace being one of the forefathers of Latin hip hop, their early group DVX that included Ace, Ace eventually going solo when he landed a deal with Delicious Vinyl, as well as B and Sen learning from his brother's mistakes of putting his trust into the wrong hands. They also get Cypress Hill becoming official in '88 and a couple years later, on the verge of releasing their debut album deciding to take less money from the label that wasn't going to suppress their creative freedom. 24:20 -- Bobo speaks on his relationship with Cypress Hill beginning in 1992 while he was playing for the Beastie Boys on the Check Your Head tour. He talks about how the crew naturally just clicked and his joining them the following year on Cypress' Soul Assassins Tour. They also discuss why New York heads at first thought the Hill was from NY, how the concept for 'Hand On The Pump' came together, and B Real having to look over his shoulder for those from his past that might want to test him during his early days of success. 29:15 -- The crew is asked to break down the origin story of Cypress Hill becoming one of the music world's biggest cannabis activists. Sen talks about when he lit up his first joint, Cypress being the first hip hop group to appear in High Times magazine and how that formed the bridge between hip hop and the cannabis movement. They discuss getting down with NORML, their marijuana themed songs never really being a conscious decision, and B Real coming up with the lyrics for 'Stoned Is The Way Of The Walk' absent a pad and pen on his way to the studio. 34:40 - B Real gets into clear communication between the producer and emcee being of the utmost importance and how the best producers like Muggs know exactly how to get the most out of who they're working with. They go on to discuss how the like-minded groups of Cypress Hill, Funkdoobiest, House Of Pain and The Whooliganz came together to form the original Soul Assassins line-up, as well as the beat for House Of Pain's 'Jump Around' originally being intended for Cypress Hill and why B Real passed it over to Everlast. 40:14 -- The crew discusses drawing inspiration from the Beastie Boys and their time touring with them. Those shows became the blueprint for how they would perform their own concerts, encouraging stage diving and mosh pits. They get into how their mega hit 'Insane In The Brain' became ingrained into pop culture as well as its lyrics taking aim at Chubb Rock in response to their feeling of Chubb taking a jab at them in 'Yabadabadoo.' B Real also tells about why it was hard for him, always being a fan of Chubb and his music. 46:43 -- The crew is asked what it was like having Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello jump in on several of their songs and later collaborating with him on Prophets Of Rage. They get into the early relationship with Rage that formed when they joined Cypress Hill on tour and Cypress finding strength in how unflinching groups like Rage and Public Enemy were while delivering their messages. They also get into the chill and inclusive vibe of the Cypress Hill tour bus and how they showed groups like Linkin Park how to have fun while on the road. 51:52 -- Cypress Hill's infamous SNL performance is brought up. They go on to break down how Muggs being told he couldn't smoke on stage set up a chain of events that would have the group banned from ever performing on the show again. They get into how they viewed it as a badge of honor, being in good company with the others on the short-list of banned artists from SNL, how big of a deal smoking weed on tv was at the time and talk shows that went too far in pushing sensationalism. 58:23 -- The origins of Cypress Hill's affiliation with Rock and Metal are discussed and Sen Dog's going to high school with Slayer's Dave Lombardo is brought up. Sen gets into how his groups Powerflo as well as SX-10 came together and talks about how the members of Cypress Hill have always encouraged each other to collaborate in projects outside of the group because they come back stronger and more well-rounded musicians. They dissect SX-10's 'I'm Not Jesus' and Sen recording with the band after briefly stepping away from the Hill in the late 90's. 1:03:03 -- The crew discusses the contributions from Chace Infinite and B Smooth on their 'IV' album and explores the genius of the song 'Looking Through The Eye Of A Pig' with its telling the story of a good cop gone bad. They go on to talk about the group's first time leaning heavy into Rock and Metal on the 'Skull & Bones' album and are asked for their take on the differences and similarities of the rock star versus rap star. They discuss Muggs' vision for the album to be focused on the Sen Dog experience and how it became something of a precursor for Prophets Of Rage. 1:15:48 -- B Real talks about forming the Stoned Assassins paintball team and how wrapped up in the sport he became during that time. Training five days a week with shooting drills and calisthenics. He tells about what he and his crew had to do to gain the respect of the other teams when his celebrity status put a huge target on his back and details what a fan said during one of the competitions that helped motivate him to get back to work in the studio as well as start touring again. 1:24:43 -- B Real is asked about his venture into solo work in the late 2000's and specifically his collaborations with rapper/cannabis entrepreneur Berner. He talks about Berner helping him expand out of his comfort zone and how that led to B considering other collabs outside the box like his most recent with Scott Storch on 'Tell You Somethin'. They also discuss Styles P challenging Cypress Hill to a "Smoker's Olympics,' why it would be challenging to officiate, Cypress Hill being credited for the naming of the OG Kush cannabis strain, and B giving up on smoking blunts. 1:35:14 -- Cypress Hill's most recent album 'Back In Black' is brought up and they discuss how it's been five years in the making as they recorded the album at the same time of their 2018 release 'Elephants On Acid'. They discuss Muggs' influence from the Beatles, B's writing from the perspective of an assassin on a journey for redemption and dig into the meaning of 'Jesus Was A Stoner'. They also get into the long history of cannabis' connection to creating music and how much work still needs to be done in the space of the decriminalization, taxation, and regulation of the herb. 1:41:30 -- Talib brings up 'Open Ya Mind' from the Hill's 'Back In Black' album and how much he loved Sen's verse on that record. They go on to discuss how the group made a conscious decision in taking a different approach with their latest release, making things more of an even back and forth between Sen Dog and B Real. Sen talks about surprising himself at times during the making of the album and B Real tells about being inspired by how good Sen sounded on those tracks. They also get into why Black Milk's production was the perfect fit for this album.

Big fan of Cypress Hill and Chubb Rock.. That "Yabbadabbadoo" song and whole "I Gotta Get Mine, Yo!" album was a shot at Cypress Hill. The nasal flow Chubb used and references to weed and shit. Cypress took all the shots right. "Insane in the Brain" was definitely warranted..

Best Hill interview I've seen. It was great seeing Sen go in depth on SX10 and the history of some of those songs. Mad Dog American was one of my favorite albums growing up and it's a shame it's so underrated. Also really cool to see them bring up Barron Ricks and Call O' da wild. IV is my favorite cypress album and you rarely hear about Ricks contributions to the record even though he was an extensive part of it. My belief is that he was going to replace Sen but ended up backing out once he came back. Great stuff for a long time fan!

Another great interview with the People's Party with Talib Kweli and Jasmine Leigh. I was a fan of Cypress Hill and especially B Real. I remember the "Insane the Membrane." I remember the "Rap Superstar" I remember B Real from "Hit Em High" with LL Cool J and Coolio. Very interesting to hear him talk about being a gangster. I never thought of him as gang banging. I am a 39 year old man by the way. A huge Talib Kweli fan. I come on here for Talib Kweli. Ever since I saw that video on BET when Kweli was like "in the mental, pick any mental, instra, funda, destru, extra large like the burough of brooklyn the residential" I been a fan of Talib Kweli since "Move Something." I bought that album too. Yeah, but this was a great interview. But I want to see some younger people on this show. I want to see some folks from the new generation. I want to see some 30 and under folks. I want to see some new artists of today that could have been on Rawkus. Let's see the 30 and under crowd. Let's see some people on the come up. They don't even have to be "superstars." Introduce us to some good, young talent. Do a show where you bring 3 artists and interview 3 artists at the same time. 3 young, good artists at the same time. Maybe from the same city. I think that would be cool. That would be a cool show. 3 young artists from the same city (not a group), that are on the come up or gaining a buzz. Like have a panel on the state of hip hop. But yes, we got to get some young blood on the show. Oh yeah, and I watched the interview you did last week with the drummer. I heard you talk about the track you did with the drums. I believe you were talking about the track on Reflection Eternal and you rapping to the drums at first and then more instruments come in later. Yeah, but that was ill. That was one of the best tracks on the album. I used to put that track on repeat a lot. I loved that way you used to flow and what you stood for and etc.

Y’all better stop that blunt hating though! Snoop style: Blunts all day every day. Fuck joints. Just my take. Praise to the Hill 🤘🏿

In Everlast’s interview he said “If I do it, it’s Hip Hop”. The same applies to Cypress Hill.

Who remembers when ; the Champion company released the sweathood with the little C ? Cypress Hill had them first, & they weren't even from New York.
